Do we need a Ban Hammer subreddit? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
...you can be wiped from the Ban Hammer and the user registry just as easily,
which means you won't get another chance to witness stuff like this happening...

Subreddits: Celebrations and the Ban Hammer

Are you illiterate or just slow? in Feedback & Suggestions ·

...there are actual reasons why we don't just open threads with titles like that,
and there's also a very specific reason why you decided to go after certain moderators right here...

Where did the politics thread go? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
...honestly, it’s just like that person who noticed something went missing but couldn't even be bothered to remember the thread title or the author's name...
...look, you can't really expect everyone to suddenly go digging through all the junk and old archives just because they caught a glimpse of something interesting...
...besides, there's a much better chance those posts were just moved into an existing thread...
...and anyway, the original author always has the option to just check their own profile, where every single one of their posts is listed right there...

Having trouble changing my avatar in Forum Help! ·

Either everyone gets the link in their signature, or no one does! in Feedback & Suggestions ·
...are you all actually certain you understand the system you're operating within..?
...for instance, dr.mrgood is insisting on this "all or nothing" approach regarding signature rights,
completely ignoring the fact that there are established Rules in place
that everyone—whether they like it or not—is required to follow...
...looking at the original post, I could tell the user simply hasn't figured out how to create a clickable link in their signature...
...which makes the ambiguous explanations from Chandler and Nancy pretty much meaningless in this context...
...and then Anthony Barrett37 comes along asking about a yellow card (without points) for some other user...
...but you seem to be forgetting that there's an exclamation point at the end of every post for reporting issues directly to the mods and admins via email,
and when those kinds of interventions happen, the moderators consult one another and assist each other through the process...
...Noah Perez12—can you please point out exactly where the error lies in issuing a yellow card here..?
...Christian Taylor3, it was stated that the card was applied to the profile along with the proper entry in the user notes,
meaning it wasn't attached to a specific thread, nor was it tucked away in some PDF that I can't access without moderator privileges, and the relevant moderator has already been notified...
...so what is left to dispute here, other than the fact that you aren't grasping such straightforward Rules—rules we all agreed to the moment we registered on Reddit..?
Either everyone gets the link in their signature, or no one does! in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Noah Perez12 said:They’re handing out disciplinary marks for signatures, yet the mods themselves seem totally unsure about the actual rules.

Can you actually point to a single moderator
who is genuinely uncertain about issuing penalties for unauthorized signatures?
I mean, really, in what sense would they be unsure about enforcing the policy regarding signature content? It wouldn't be a struggle for me to pull up the official guidelines
regarding signatures right here, if seeing them might help you reconsider your stance...
From what I can tell by looking at the thread title and everyone's user profiles, it seems like everyone is entitled to include a link in their signature,
so I honestly don't see why there's even a need to start a whole debate like this on Reddit...
Either everyone gets the link in their signature, or no one does! in Feedback & Suggestions ·

  • 3. you can't use your signature for advertising, nor can you use it to dump personal info; if you really want a link to your personal blog or some page on Reddit, please format it as "Click here" instead of just dropping a raw http://www.mylink.com* .

This place is supposed to have a clear identity: the veterans who actually put in the work are here, while everyone else is just a carbon copy. If you’ve got 500 posts or joined during that 2011 surge, you're basically a clone. And apparently, those users don't deserve an ounce of respect—they get banned just for using a misplaced comma.

Honestly, the best move would be to shut down the spamming entirely, wipe out everyone who joined after the final second of 2010, and then you'll finally have a core group without all these clones. Maybe the mods could use the break to chill out, too.

Look, if you were suggesting we actually shut down those duplicate accounts—you know, the clones—I’d be right there standing beside you supporting the idea,
but your little proposal is built on a foundation of insults, specifically that baseless claim that everyone with over 500 posts is running a sockpuppet account...

...I would love nothing more than to grant the users who are so desperate to participate in a debate
a few unmoderated threads, just so they can truly experience the crushing weight of their own powerlessness in the digital world...

Alex Cook said:I really hope you realize how ridiculous you sound right now. Nobody is born knowing everything—it’s not like everyone is expected to be a tech genius or a forum veteran from day one. And honestly, looking at the way you're justifying merging posts, it feels like you're just throwing a tantrum over anyone who registered eight minutes ago, while simultaneously acting like someone with decades of forum experience is somehow beneath you. If this stuff is getting under your skin that much, maybe hand the tools over to someone a bit more chill. 🤷

Anyway, I'm just rambling here—Byron would probably put this much better than I ever could. 😁

...and you still haven't actually laid out any real reasons why you're so against Multi-quote.
All I can really take away from this whole thing is that your post is nothing more than a pale, washed-out shadow of Nicholas King’s legendary trolling...

Look, I get the rule itself—it’s perfectly clear what it says—but I can't help but wonder, what exactly is the point of it all? What's the underlying goal we're actually trying to achieve here?
...you clearly have no idea how to handle Quoting properly, do you?
You didn't even leave a hint in your post about where you actually pulled that quote from! Jack Bishop94 So, about that rule...

Just imagine someone asks a question, someone else replies, and then the first person refers back to that answer. If you merge the posts from before and after that reply, it's going to look like they commented on the answer before they even got it—or like the second person replied before the question was even asked—depending on whether the server merges the posts above or below the middle one. That just doesn't make any sense at all. 🙂 Posts should only be merged if they are sitting right next to each other in one continuous sequence.

it wasn't my intention to imply that

Honestly, I think moderators ought to be creators themselves; after all, the very core of our mission here on this forum is the act of thinking. 🙂

I couldn't agree more on this point, because honestly, who does anyone think they are? No one should have the right to go back and mess with history or try to rewrite the timeline of posts that have already been laid down. Once it's written, it's set in stone.
I based my entire explanation on scanning through several consecutive posts—you know, those ones that certain forum members just can't seem to stop using all the time.
