Honestly, I went to a Muay Thai class recently and—wow—I really loved it! It’s just so incredibly dynamic.
If anyone here happens to be more of an expert, could you please explain the actual difference in what I'd get out of Krav Maga versus Ninjutsu?

Well, you probably won't need a mouthguard right away since it takes a while before you actually start sparring, but hand wraps are definitely a necessity.
You should go with non-elastic wraps. The elastic ones tend to mess with your circulation, I guess.
As for gloves, the club might have some available, so it isn't necessarily something you need to buy on day one.
Honestly, I imagine it doesn't matter much whether you pick kickboxing or Muay Thai, as long as you find a decent gym that’s close to home.
If you actually want to get good at the sport, you just have to show up consistently. Otherwise, people tend to quit pretty fast.
I could suggest checking out Holy Spirit for Muay Thai, and if I recall correctly, Spartan Gym is also pretty solid. Though, both of those are located downtown.

Now, I was hoping to pick your brains a little regarding kickboxing. So, here’s the deal—I’m 18 years old, standing about 5'9", weighing roughly 155 lbs. I don't really have much striking experience yet, though I suppose I've got a pretty solid physical build.
I’ve spent some time hitting the gym, and I still do some training at home now and then—but as far as actual combat sports go, I have about a year of wrestling under my belt.
I’m really looking to hear from people who actually train; specifically, I’m curious about what kind of starter gear I should probably look into getting.
I didn't mention earlier that I'm based over in the Northwest side of Chicago, so ideally, I'd love to find a club nearby, though I guess that isn't a strict requirement or anything.
One place that caught my eye is Doms. Is that a decent club to check out?
