Dorm gym setups: How are they looking? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
Hey everyone.
Could someone give me the lowdown on how things are looking at the gyms in downtown Chicago, near the Loop, and over by the West Side? I'm curious about the current crowds and what the equipment situation is like right now...
Thanks in advance 🙂
Lump on my wrist in Health ·
So, after a few days, everything seems to be staying the same size, shape, and firmness... plus, there's no pain or discomfort at all. I'm going to head in to see my doctor soon just to get their take on things. Thanks everyone for the replies and all the help 🙂

It doesn't really look like that. It’s way smaller, it isn't painful at all, and I have full range of motion in my wrist whenever I want. It doesn't get in the way of my workouts or anything else... it’s just sitting there.
Lump on my wrist in Health ·
Hey everyone. I’m starting a general thread here just in case there isn't one already for this kind of thing.
So, I've noticed this little bump popping up on the top of my wrist. It's small, but definitely large enough to feel when I touch it, and you can actually see it from the side. The skin hasn't changed color or anything like that...
I stay pretty active and hit the gym every single day doing stuff that puts a lot of strain on my wrists—things like pull-ups, dips, push-ups, you name it. I'm wondering if there might be a connection there.
Thanks in advance for any insight!

Edit: I forgot to mention one thing... it feels hard to the touch. It doesn't move around, and it doesn't hurt at all—not when I press on it, not when I bend my wrist, not during heavy lifting, nothing. Just sits there...
Knot near my quad in Health ·
So, during my rugby match this past Sunday, I took a pretty hard hit to my right leg—specifically the quadriceps area. Right after the game, walking was a total struggle; I was limping quite badly. Later on, I felt this small lump. You can't actually see it, but you can definitely feel it if you touch it. It’s located right on the outer edge of my right quad (sorry if my anatomy terms are a little off, I'm no doctor!).
Things have improved a bit since then. The muscle itself isn't aching constantly, but I do get this sharp, tight sensation on the right side of my leg whenever I try to stretch. That little lump hasn't gone away, though. I can walk around, but after a while, the discomfort kicks in... running is still completely out of the question.
It almost feels like the muscle has lost its tone. Usually, my quads are pretty well-defined without much effort, but this injured side looks totally flat now, except for when I flex it.

Does anyone have an idea of what this might be, or maybe some advice? Right now, I've been applying some topical gels, icing it, and keeping it wrapped up with an elastic bandage.

Spyder makes some seriously solid paintball markers. I’d definitely recommend them...

I’ve run into a bit of a snag and was hoping someone could help me out...

So, I have a TAC 5 air rifle, and whenever I pull the trigger, you can hear gas hissing right out of the barrel... do you think it's just the O-rings?
If anyone knows what might be causing this, please let me know—and if you happen to know how much a repair would cost, that'd be great too!

Yeah, it's definitely the seals.
Just swap them out and you should be good to go...
If that doesn't fix it, though, you'll need to pinpoint exactly where that hiss is coming from.

Well, nice one. What did I actually say? I put "parkour" in quotes, specifically referring to those people who think what they’re doing is actually parkour. That’s why I said anyone who identifies as being into "PARKOUR" (meaning their version of it—just freerun or tricking) is incredibly obnoxious...

And now, look at you, just looking totally clueless.

And if you're genuinely curious, no, I haven't met a single person who does actual, legitimate parkour. Everyone else is too busy showing off with flips and handstands. I'm probably the only one in that crowd who actually trained to get from point A to point B as fast as possible, instead of wasting half an hour because I feel the need to pull off twenty backflips or frontflips, walk up a wall on my hands, and instead of just clearing the obstacle, perform some flashy palm flip on it just for show.

@David Martin71/">@@David Martin71: I’ll forgive you for thinking ninety minutes of just kicking a ball around a massive field counts as "fun."

@Krešimir: Well, I don't really do parkour anymore. Sometimes a buddy and I will hit up a local gym to work on some obstacle lines with balance beams and things, but nothing crazy... we aren't trying to pull off stunts, just trying to get from point A to point B as fast as possible 👍.
I mean, I'd probably train more if I could, but I've put on a little weight lately. Plus, I play rugby now, so I actually need the mass... and you definitely can't be carrying extra weight if you're doing parkour 😁
I did pick up a few techniques for vaulting and clearing higher walls, though. My biggest struggle was always mastering the monkey vault... my legs are just way too powerful and my arms are too short 🤣

Alright, let's hear from someone with some actual brains 🙏

And just to add to that: every single person I’ve ever met who claims to do "Parkour"—or whatever their version of it is—is just incredibly exhausting... all because they can pull off a backflip from a meter up 🙄

Dennis Doyle3 said:I know what Parkour is—watched a few decent clips on YouTube once or twice.
I was specifically talking about those links posted above. One of them actually looks pretty impressive, but the other one? Just hilarious.
I don't go to the gym, and honestly, I never have. I’m not judging you for going, and I don't care how much you pay for a membership, but I am a little confused why you're so interested in my physique... I just play soccer for fun. And if you ask me, that's way more exciting than scaling walls.
Back in elementary school, even jumping a couple of steps and grabbing a handrail felt like a high-stakes stunt. Now? I just walk up the stairs like a normal person.

🤣 🤣 🤣

If soccer is "exciting," then I guess golf, chess, and watching Formula 1 are basically extreme sports!

edit: I used to be more active, but things aren't quite as intense for me anymore. I mean, I'd love to get back into it, but with a hundred different errands and jobs on my plate, there's just no time for anything serious...

The vocals are such a massive step up from the previous albums—honestly, as a singer myself, that’s what I appreciate most about this 😉. And don't even get me started on the instrumentation, the depth, or the overall atmosphere... it's just incredible.
Truly excellent work, just keep doing what you're doing 👍
An Introduction to American Football in Other Sports ·
The rules are pretty straightforward to pick up
And yeah, I can't quite remember the official term for it, but when a player catches a kicked ball, the defender has to stay on an imaginary line where they were positioned at the exact moment of the catch. Then, the player who caught the ball gets about 10 seconds—I think that's the rule, anyway—to either kick it away, pass it to a teammate, or just keep running...

I’ve caught a few games on ESPN 2 here and there, but mostly I just spend my time training for American football... It's all fun and games until they start bringing in the heavy hitters on defense😉
Is 18 too late? in Other Sports ·
You can always just keep driving that ball down the field. It doesn't matter how old you are or how much you think you know... 🤷
Bethroned in Music ·
That sounds awesome, but I’m really not feeling the vocals. You need to dig a little deeper and really push through the grit... give the singing some more power, and it’ll sound way better.

honestly swiftmaker20, they're just way too intense for my taste... all those corpse paints, those crazy stage names, and all that stuff 🙂
