Come on, let's not get carried away with labels like "stupid." She just didn't know better, or maybe she just didn't think things through for a second...

In the meantime... check out this cool clip.

Here is the current situation.☕ We don't have a confirmed date for Jamiroquai yet, but I have a hunch they might slot them in for the 22nd. If they do, it would probably mean the organizers are cooking up one more big surprise for us. 😍

June 21, 2011
Arcade Fire
Jamiroquai?

June 22, 2011.
Cypress Hill
Grinderman
TV on the Radio
Arthur Anderson75 said:Personally, I’m a huge fan of Megadeth and Dark Tranquillity, but I don't hold my breath expecting to see them at Coachella. It isn't about having some "refined" taste or anything; it's just that these metal bands aren't exactly household names on a global scale.

That said, I've been a massive fan of Alice in Chains since way back in '92, and man, I love that band.

So when they were announced for Coachella, I didn't just say "wow." Honestly, I was practically tearing up from pure joy.

I really don't see why that would be an issue for you.

Fair enough, fair enough. I was just asking because I couldn't quite wrap my head around which bands you meant, since none of them seemed to have made the cut for the Lollapalooza lineup. Though... I figured it might be something along those lines. Don't worry, I'm doing just fine, no need to fret.🤷🤣😍

Cypress Hill—now that's cool. They might not be my absolute favorite thing ever, but if we're talking hip-hop, I'm glad they're part of the mix. Coachella is looking pretty diverse and interesting so far.☕

Students and high schoolers are getting extra credits. $17 If you're a T-Mobile customer, there's actually a little way to snag a discount. All you have to do is shoot a quick text over to 2255. It's pretty straightforward.

I was scrolling through the T-Mobile site earlier today—just one of those mindless rabbit holes you fall down when you're supposed to be working—and I stumbled upon their latest service updates. It’s funny how much things change with mobile plans and data speeds lately. Honestly, keeping up with all these tech shifts feels like a full-time job sometimes. I remember back when a decent data plan felt like a luxury, but now? We've got more bandwidth in our pockets than most people had in their entire homes twenty years ago. Anyway, just thought I'd drop the link here for anyone interested in seeing what they're offering right now. It looks pretty standard, nothing too crazy, but worth a look if you're thinking about switching up your current setup.

So, just a heads-up: that ticket is going to cost you. $80It’s not listed on the festival website.

This is exactly what drives me crazy about how Live Nation handles their PR—it’s just amateur hour. They drop incomplete info, they're always late to the party, and honestly, it feels like they're just messing with the fans at this point.

Looks like T-Mobile is putting out some pretty inaccurate info.

Here is the official statement from the organizers:

There’s some incorrect info sitting on the T-Mobile website, so you wouldn't have even been able to stack those discounts if you tried.
We’ll reach out to AT&T and let them know there's a mistake on their webpage. Thanks for flagging that for us.

Hey there, hope you're doing well.
Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival

My apologies if I gave anyone any false hope!😍
placidwolf113 said:Live Nation is actually pretty great! It's just a shame the organizers pointed the stage away from where everyone's staying.

Honestly, two days of anything isn't going to kill anyone.
HEADS UP FOR EVERYONE:

Students and anyone with a student ID can snag an extra $17% discount just by being a T-Mobile customer—you just have to text a code to 2255.

http://www.t-mobile.com/2/20-90-80-00-00.asp

So, your ticket is actually going to be $80, even though the Coachella website doesn't mention it anywhere.

Honestly, this is exactly what I can't stand about how Coachella handles their PR—it feels incredibly amateurish when they release incomplete, late info and end up messing with the customers.
Arthur Anderson75 said:To be honest, I can't remember a single band that ever played Lollapalooza that actually made me go, "Wow."

I mean... what am I even thinking here? Are you seriously only listening to two bands? Is it just total nobodies you're into, or do you actually have such incredibly refined taste?

Arthur Anderson75 said:And honestly, they’ve brought plenty of bands through there after their US tours, only for the media to turn it into some massive sensationalist spectacle all over again.

I honestly think being the biggest act in the region doesn't matter as much as the actual logistics. It really comes down to whether the performer was actually brought in by the promoters or if they just happened to be on the lineup.

Arthur Anderson75 said:Rock music is officially back in the spotlight. 124 miles I’m based out of Washington, D.C., and honestly, I know plenty of bands that play festivals like Burning Man—acts that Lollapalooza would have a really hard time booking. Because of that, any claims about Lollapalooza having "exclusive" lineups just don't hold much water for me.

Let’s stop talking about exclusivity. It used to be a huge draw for artists because of the underlying political statement—which is probably why people set stories like that in places like Mexico instead of America. Back then, that edge helped open up entire markets. But honestly? Once festivals like Lollapalooza really start leaning into commercialization, that whole "exclusive" vibe just evaporates.
Something like that. I honestly can't say for sure.

I still remember seeing that massive billboard downtown; it had both Alice in Chains and Portishead listed on it.
Just like a couple of years back when they were touting Foo Fighters, Moby, Lily Allen, and Kraftwerk.

It kills me because I can't recall exactly who they left off the list, but I'm pretty sure the first wave of posters never includes everyone. If you look at it logically—it's happened every year lately where they announce four main headliners, and then there's always another one or two tucked away somewhere (you know, booked later or whatever). We might not love whoever they end up booking, but... come on kids, there’s definitely going to be at least one more big name for the main stage!
silentdriver12 said:That’s how they handled the graphics in previous years—they’d just highlight four or five headliners
and leave the rest out....

Actually, no way XD. For instance, last year they even put up those massive billboards downtown without mentioning Portishead or Alice in Chains (I can't recall the exact lineup offhand). When it comes to Coachella, they really don't follow a set pattern; their marketing strategy is pretty much all over the place.

Is it just me, or does this look like the entire headliner lineup? :/

But why though?
amberranger said:You might want to reconsider that one.

Spot on!
Morgan Palmer2 said:Go ahead and compare them if you want... they’re basically identical. I mean, sure, one lasts two days while the other goes for four, and the budget gap is practically nonexistent. It’s not like Lollapalooza is twice as old with eighteen different stages and two or three times as many artists and double the daily crowd size. But hey, you're right—they are totally comparable.👍

I have to admit, I somehow managed to completely overlook the political side of things during those early Lollapalooza years.
You mentioned they were there last year. And yeah... if you look at all the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival editions globally compared to those 200 performers and 15 headliners from last year—they really dropped the ball this time with just these four☕
Well, feel free to compare them if you want... they're basically identical. I mean, sure, one lasts two days while the other goes for four, and the budget differences are practically nonexistent. It's not like Lollapalooza is twice as old with 18 different stages and maybe two or three times the lineup and double the daily crowd size... so yeah, you're totally right, they are completely comparable👍
Megan Miller31 said:Let's just set Lollapalooza aside for a second and look at Coachella compared to last year. Last year we had Alice in Chains, Massive Attack, Tricky, Editors, Morcheeba, Pendulum—I could go on forever. And this year? Having Jamiroquai as a headliner? Not great.
I love Arcade Fire, and I adore Nick Cave with the Bad Seeds, so that doesn't change much for me, though I wouldn't miss them if I had the chance to see them live. I'm also a fan of TV on the Radio, but honestly, I could catch those first two at Lollapalooza along with a whole bunch of even better bands. I know I brought Lollapalooza back into the conversation at the end there, but I needed it for the comparison. Anyway, it doesn't matter; you aren't going to change my mind about Coachella dropping the ball, and I won't change yours regarding how fun these bands are.

Of course, that's what happens when you don't have a clue who played last year. Maybe do a little digging on Editors and Tricky... besides, the lineup isn't even finalized yet, so comparing them right now is pointless.
You should definitely head to Lollapalooza; you'll hear plenty of stuff there, but don't try to compare Lollapalooza to Coachella because they're just different tiers of festivals. On one hand, it's good that they compete, but it's equally silly to expect them to have the exact same lineup. So, if Lollapalooza is your pick, have a blast!
Megan Miller31 said:Pulp? Portishead? Beirut? Magnetic Man?
Even Fedde Le Grand—I don't follow his stuff personally, but I know he's a big deal in those specific electronic circles he moves in.
It’s definitely an upgrade over what Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is booking, hey, look, they're bringing out Jamiroquai. 🤦
Compared to last year, Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival really missed the mark; that's just a fact. I’m not saying they won't announce more great bands by June, but right now, Lollapalooza is winning this one, hands down.

They didn't miss the mark. You're talking nonsense without any actual facts.
Lollapalooza has better names and will continue to have them, which is great if you're into massive crowds. On the other hand, you can catch a few more top-tier performers right up front at Central Park.
Michelle Wood53 said:I knew someone was going to take that the wrong way, but then again, I suppose I didn't phrase things quite as clearly as I should have. It was a bit clumsy on my part. 😵 I didn't necessarily go in expecting them to be the heaviest act on the lineup, but you really can't deny that Korn brings a certain intensity that’s hard to match. When I think about truly heavy hitters, my mind immediately goes to bands like Down, System of a Down, Rage Against the Machine, or Motörhead. Some people complain about the ticket prices being astronomical lately, and honestly, they aren't wrong, but looking back at previous years, the festivals usually managed to book at least one or two heavyweights. This year feels a bit different, though. Well, we'll just have to wait and see if things turn around. 🤷

Man, I’m a bit lost on this $30 thing... though I have to say, Korn is definitely in. Even if they were a little more stripped-back and mellow during that MTV Unplugged session—which was honestly brilliant.
Michelle Wood53 said:Look, I don't have a problem with indie bands—I actually enjoy listening to them quite a bit—but they aren't exactly the type of acts you'd see headlining the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival this year. When it comes to the heavier stuff, though, I feel like Coachella has kind of missed the mark this season. I know there's still time for them to announce some more aggressive artists, but in the meantime, we already know that Korn and 30 Seconds to Mars are coming to Washington, D.C. this June. So, I think I'll skip Coachella this year and just head to one of those shows instead. If my bank account allows for it, I might even try to catch both.

Wait a second... you think 30 Seconds to Mars counts as a heavy band?!!! 😕
fadedsailor932 said:...a bit of a tangent here...

...well...I suppose there's some value in keeping your friends close, isn't there?😉

hahahahahahaha! I was waiting for you to say that. Go ahead then, rub your hands together and enjoy the moment. As for me... I think I'll pass on Burning Man this year.
Jamiroquai is absolutely incredible! What a rush...
