Good grief! Looks like Manu Chao is coming to the US, but unfortunately, it’s not for Coachella.

Beirut and Underworld... at Lollapalooza, man... I wish one of them would play at Central Park instead.🙄
I don't know... I’ve really put the work in here. I've been listening to this TVOTR stuff and honestly, some tracks hit home while others just feel like complete garbage. Total nonsense. The newer material seems to be stepping up a bit, though. For now, I'm going to stay right in the middle on this one. 😍

My ID card hasn't even worked at the local pharmacy for the last year and a half. Last year, I went to buy tickets and the guy just glanced at my ID and nothing happened. The year before that, some lady wouldn't accept my transcript because my student ID number wasn't printed directly on it—apparently, for those on the newer credit system, it's supposed to be there—so when I finally handed over my ID, she had to go find a way to manually log the number.
I really don't get what they're actually looking for. I have full-time student status, so I'm getting my discount regardless of whether my ID works or whatever nonsense they think they're doing.😁
Honestly, I think it’s just pure incompetence from the people working at the T-Mobile stores, or maybe they just aren't briefed properly. When the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival first started offering those discounts, there was this massive chaotic rush during the first year because students who didn't have their transcripts yet—since the registrar was running late—were getting turned away. So then they introduced official letters, then student IDs, then every other bureaucratic hoop you can imagine. Look, people, you need to speak up and push back a little bit. Not every clerk behind the counter knows the full policy. Just because you haven't updated your digital profile under the new academic guidelines doesn't mean you've lost your rights, does it? If my experience over the last three years counts for anything... I've been buying tickets every year. The first year, I was late and bought them later; I think there was an SMS discount available, but back then it was a Verizon promotion and I was on T-Mobile, so I missed out. The following year, the best deal was using the transcript; I gathered three copies of my transcript, went in, and bought tickets for three people. The woman clerk just wrote down our social security numbers from the transcripts, or maybe it was just our names. Last year, if I remember correctly, the best discount was through the SMS code. I showed up with two different phones and bought a couple of tickets; I can't quite recall, but I think she just took the phone numbers and canceled the code so they wouldn't send the discount twice.

If I were in your shoes, I’d just play dumb and act completely oblivious. Honestly, what does the poor girl working the desk really know? Just show her your student records or something and call it a day. Even if she catches on, you can always just act confused—like, "Oh, I was just told to bring my ID to get the discount."😍👍
Larry Morales12 said:Alright, putting the whole ID thing aside for a second—has anyone actually used one of those student discount tickets yet? I’m wondering if there’s any special marking on them. I just don't want to show up and realize they need my full legal name or some other official paperwork at the gate.
Oh my goodness! Guys, seriously, you need to stop being so paranoid! You can't make me dig through my old files and find photos of my tickets from three years ago just to prove a point to you all.
As far as I know—and there's no reason for this to change now—the tickets always list the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival info along with all the different price tiers for each sales period. Back in 2008, they even included a specific note about the discount, but for the last two years, it hasn't been explicitly mentioned, yet I bought mine with my student ID without any issues and got the deal. There is absolutely no name or surname printed on the tickets; they're just standard printed passes, and the only real security feature is a holographic seal.
urbannomad30 said:Well, you could easily verify that just by looking at the student ID number... though I have my doubts they actually bother doing that. 🤷
edit: "to" refers to how long your rights last.
I honestly doubt the university administration would ever grant them access to that kind of data. Sure, one could try checking through the legal authorization center, but that requires logging in as an official user to access private records. Besides, you’d need a Social Security number just to log in, which makes it pretty much an illegal move if you refuse to provide yours.

If they try to take my X away from me... 🤣😍
Did anyone happen to mention TV on the Radio?

Check out the discounts and perks—look at the third paragraph, third line.
As someone already mentioned—the staff at the first checkpoint really only cares about one thing: do you actually have a ticket? That's where you swap your pass for a wristband. Once you get past that, the security at the main gate just checks if you’re wearing the band and makes sure you aren't smuggling in any prohibited items. The ticket prices are pretty straightforward; all the different tiers are listed right on the ticket (at least, that’s how it worked last year), though you can still snag those special discounts if you bring your ID to a Mall of America location.

And when can we expect more names to drop? My patience is wearing thin over here. I'm already hanging out near the Mall of America, just waiting to see if one or two more solid acts show up...
That's how it works! Honestly, there's no need to stress. The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival usually has about four to six acts that could easily step into a headliner slot; it really just comes down to how they finalize the official schedule.
Look, I’m not claiming to be an insider here—heaven forbid I go sticking my nose where it doesn't belong. Everything I know comes straight from the internet, which is pretty much what anyone with half a brain can dig up if they look hard enough.
Is it actually true that Radiohead is only playing at the Roman Colosseum in Korea?

But he hasn't worked with agents for A. Fire or Portishead, has he?
😲
I honestly don't know what his actual job entails... and frankly, I don't really care. These days, anyone can put together a band and hire an agent.
So, here’s what one of the band members is saying to his American fans on the forum...😂
Unfortunately not—though, to be honest, I'm not even sure I'd care much if they were. It probably would have been better if it came through an agent, though. XD

I thought we were actually discussing Coachella and the potential lineup for the festival.
Alex Harris2 said:So, what, you aren't allowed at the festival without a discount? I don't follow...
Of course you can, but silly me, I just assumed most people would actually prefer to pay less $97 than $390 for a ticket.
Could you please walk me through how I can apply a discount when I'm shopping online?
