silenthawk11 said:Honestly, you totally outed yourself back in that thread about Pukanica... For me, Zoran Milanovic is easily the most unlikable guy in American politics, but nobody went as far as you did—calling him a "Mexican," basically claiming his ancestors "converted 300 years ago" or whatever... It’s not like we didn't catch a hint of where you're coming from (no matter where you actually live), but man, you really gave yourself away there. Total Seselj vibes. 👍

Glad to hear it. 🙂

Regarding everything you've posted, I really only have one comment: 🤮 👋

driftingdriver said:That’s kind of like saying "people are Ustaše." Well, obviously, Ustaše are people... ☕ Is Wikipedia just the ultimate truth for everything now? Or maybe The Holy Bible? 🤣

Yeah, sure, because Ustaše aren't fascists or Nazis... clearly... 🙏 🙄
What was the golden age for Americans? in Close to Politics ·
ruggedridge50 said:I’ve been sitting here wondering which era actually worked best for Americans living across the borders of Canada and the US. If you ask the older generation, they usually point toward the Austro-Canadian Empire, the Kingdom of America—though hardly anyone would claim that one—or the Independent State of America. For those a bit younger, it’s usually the Independent State of America or America. Then you have the youngest crowd, who mostly look back at the Independent State of America and America too. And honestly, if you ask some people, they might even say the Republic of America was the peak (haha). I’m going to toss a poll out there and see where we land...

well, if you really sit down and crunch all the numbers... the sweet spot was probably 2000-2008...

Jason Campbell70 said:As far as I know, "American English" is taught in every single grade throughout elementary and high school.

If someone who uses a heavy regional dialect can still write properly on this forum—distinguishing between formal grammar and casual speech—then why shouldn't they? Like a typical New Yorker, for instance.

Because, in my humble opinion, the way people speak in New York is much closer to standard literary American English than the slang you might hear down in Florida.

😂 🤣

Oh, come on—it’s almost painful to listen to on TV when nearly every single word has the wrong emphasis... 🙏 😁

I mean, what does any of this actually have to do with love, romance, or sex? It feels more like we're diving deep into psychology here...

Henry Moore2 said:But honestly, the thing is, those parents were raised by the old school. Like, the absolute traditionalists. So, where did things start going sideways?

I honestly think it’s because the old guard overdid it with the discipline... or maybe they just changed their mindset—you know, thinking "our kids shouldn't have to struggle like we did"—or perhaps they've been influenced by all that media stuff where everyone tries to act like parents and kids are just "best friends"... or maybe it's just people following whatever the current laws dictate...

amberfox4 said:Yes, I find myself in agreement there, yet the fundamental question remains why a child would ever reach such a state of behavior in the first place. When we were growing up here in the States, I don't recall seeing this level of conduct—this specific type of entitlement, throwing tantrums on the floor, and all those other foolish displays.

It definitely happened back then, but things usually got sorted out pretty quickly... 😉

Nicole Allen10 said:I honestly think it all boils down to how much quality time parents actually carve out for their kids when they’re drowning in work. That’s the heart of the issue right there.

Parents have always had jobs, obviously—it’s just that back in the day, people were clocking out by six and getting home around two, so there was actually a window to sit down and really talk with the kids...

Henry Moore2 said:I’ve actually dealt with a few scenes just like that with my former sister-in-law’s little one. Total chaos in restaurants, throwing fits on the floor at McDonald's because he didn't get the specific toy he wanted, even cursing out the waitress because they were serving PepsiCo instead of Coca-Cola... he’d even go as far as ripping his own clothes off. The kid was only about three years old at the time.

Honestly, back in the day, you’d probably give him a good smack to settle him down after an outburst like that, but nowadays, people call that abuse... 🙂 🙄

Amanda Kern2 said:Why shouldn't kids have AC in their classrooms? Look, I don't have children, but if someone tries to lecture me about how "spoiled" today's generation is just because they want air conditioning, they're missing the point entirely. I grew up in schools where we were sweating through our shirts in 95-degree heat, or dealing with playground equipment that felt like it was melting under the sun. Is it really "oppressive" to want to give our kids the best? If it's within my means, and I had a kid, I’d be looking at a chauffeur driving them to school and classrooms equipped with climate control and mahogany desks. Anyone calling this hypocritical—especially compared to how most parents actually handle upbringing and education—is clearly deluded.
What kids possess, and the specific things they have, only matters if you approach the situation with the right mindset.
Graham and Mikimiki hit the nail on the head here.

There is a massive difference between giving them the best and just giving them everything... ☕

Yeah, involving his Apprentice Ahsoka.

BTW—two new posters just dropped too...

how can he even have an Apprentice when I'm still just a Padawan at the start of the third part? 😕

Man, wouldn't that be just perfect for us... imagine if we could just go from Christmas, straight into New Year's, then Three Kings Day, and then follow it up with the Mexican New Year... but nope... 😢

Oh, come on now—it’ll just be an American New Year's Day, whether you call it one thing or another, or maybe a mix of both... it doesn't really matter, does it? 🤣 👍

Anthony James2 said:Based on which calendar? 😎 😎 😎

it's pretty obvious... 👍

When it comes to Easter, the math is actually pretty simple—the Jewish Passover happens after the first full moon following the spring equinox, and then the first Sunday after Passover follows... so the Jewish community celebrates Passover, and then "we" celebrate Easter... honestly, if you ask me, Easter really ought to happen right after Passover...

And as for Christmas, well, you guys can have that, and we'll just stick to our New Year's celebrations... 🤣 😁

Happy Easter to everyone out there... 🙂

really hoping that we'll all be able to celebrate all the big Christian holidays together again soon—just all on the same day... 👍
