Just pair up an IF function with the OR function.

Like this: =IF(OR(A1=5,A1=10,A1=15,A1=20,A1=25,A1=30),"JUB"," ")—you can just keep going until you hit 30 arguments.
Paul Hernandez10 said:they're all filled with codes like 123-456-789-123.....
, Alright, so... I need all 15,000 of those codes in a PDF, but here's the catch: I need one code per page. How do I set it up so when I save to PDF, it saves as 1 cell = 1 page?

If you're stuck using Excel 2007, just grab a PDF export add-in.
Also, check out some VBA macros for saving to PDF or hit this link.
If all those codes are sitting on Sheet1, you can split them up onto other sheets using the MID function.
Basically, set a formula on Sheet2 to pull the first three characters, then move to Sheet3 for the next three, and so on.

for example:
Sheet2 => =MID(Sheet1!A1,1,3) => gets the first three chars since you start at char 1
Sheet3 => =MID(Sheet1!A1,5,3) => gets the next three because you're starting at the fifth char

Yeah, just upload a snippet of the doc here for download
vividcobra97 said:So basically, if I type "Monday" into cell 1, I want the rest of the days to just fill themselves in—like 2. Tuesday, 3. Wednesday, 4. Thursday, and so on...
Or if I start with Tuesday, I want it to show Wednesday, Thursday, etc...

Just type in the actual date instead of the day name.
Like, in Sheet 1, just type "1-5" (no quotes needed) and hit enter. It'll register as May 1st and automatically show "Tuesday"
Then go into cell formatting custom = => dddd
or Custom => dddd

On Sheet 2, use this formula: ='1'!A1+1 (format the cell too)
On Sheet 3, use: ='2'!A1+1 (format that one as well)

That way, the dates will just roll forward automatically through all your Google Sheets

urbanbison8 said:So how do I get Excel to actually recognize "Go" (annual leave) as the value 8 when I type it in my timesheet? I need it to actually count as 8 hours so the math works.

Look, work hours mixed with specific labels—check this link, plus I attached a screenshot. Honestly, just using formulas makes life way 😉
easier.
Chris Collins7 said:Hey
I need some help with the LOOKUP function.

try using this formula: =LOOKUP(B5,Sheet2!A1:A241,Sheet2!B1:B241)
By the way, the Lookup function actually uses two types of arguments

Can you send over an example file?
here's my file. Check out the data range (Sheet2)
Larry Johnson5 said:I'm being quiet. Clearly I can't find the basic stuff. There’s plenty of the complex functions, though—it’s like they’re everywhere.

You're not "clueless," you're just too lazy to Google it. 😉

Just some number, like: 412
B1: some number, like: 85
Just use the function. Subtraction. Just a basic subtraction formula. Simple enough.
D1: for the math percentage Just use the formula =C1/A1 and then set the cell formatting to... Percentages.
casualbear7 said:Make that line shorter and darker.

First thing you gotta do? Go into the AutoCorrect dialog box and just kill that setting. Turn it off. Hyphens.

If you want another way to deal with this mess and just wipe those existing lines out, try doing this instead.
Just select the whole thing in the doc, then hit that tab. Border and Shading Go to the Borders tab and just pick the first option—the one with zero lines. Check this link for help with Border and Shading; you’ll want to clear out that bottom line in the preview field. Or just take a look at this. here
John Cooper65 said:Any help would be huge. Seriously.

Here's a little something to help you out while you study. 😉

Just use the function. Average.
Using the function... IF
Just use the Sort command in Excel. Simple.
Just use the function. SUM
Just use the function. MAX
Just use the function. I'm still waiting on that info. What's the deal?

=A7^2 (=POWER(A7,2))
=A7^3 (=POWER(A7,3))
=POWER(A7, 1/3)
Just a quick tip: if you want that result, go with =-1000/A7. Simple as that.
=3.14*A7
=(3.14*(A7^2))/4
- Just `=SQRT(A7)`. Simple enough.

Excel is your only real option. hidden boundaries Just post it. Breakthrough. Before and after the column.
Frank Lee48 said:but for my senior project I need to find more VBA program examples, and if possible, put together a list of object commands and methods along with their explanations.

I figured you’d checked out most of the tutorials when you said "yeah, that could help too."

You say "senior project." Look, if you want to write a decent final paper, you actually have to know what you're talking about—not even mentioning the subject matter itself. Basically, you gotta study.

If you're actually interested in explanations for specific parts of a Macro code, then one of the links in that tutorial covers it.

Also, do yourself a favor and check out the tutorial on Macros in Excel for extra breakdowns. Sit down and learn.

btw: that web tutorial's Excel section has more links featuring VBA macros that include plenty of comments explaining specific lines of code.

Justin Moore10 said:How do I stop it from auto-capitalizing the start of every sentence?

Just highlight the whole thing right when you start. Like, grab a paragraph and just switch it to lowercase using the font settings in Word.
Anything you type after that should stay lowercase at the start of the paragraph.

Interesting issue. Looks like you nailed it using some tips from @Jack Hayes/">@@Jack Hayes
The idea isn't bad, honestly. Just feels a bit messy to me. Personally, I'd just lean on the power of PIVOT TABLE instead. Definitely worth looking into for next time. 😉
Cheers, Jack Hayes 😉
Walter Jackson48 said:It’s tried and true, super easy—works just fine on both 2000 and 2007..

My bad, was moving too fast and totally missed your explanation above. It works perfectly.

- select the first cell with the formula
- copy
- right-click the column letter (selects the whole column)
- paste

boom, formula's in the whole column for every single row

But look, there's a catch with this method and my other one. You end up filling the entire column, which is messy. If you've got 7000 rows, you'll have to go in and delete all those extra rows filled with useless formulas

THIS way is actually better since it only copies the formula down to the last row of actual data.
later
Walter Jackson48 said:There might be a smoother way, but try this:
Grab the formula from the first cell in the column and hit Copy. Then, head up to the top of the column. Once your cursor turns into that little arrow, just click to select the whole thing and hit Paste.

You tried that yet? Won't work. 😉
