What happened with that absolute trash from last year regarding Janica? I know they let it all out for the entire morning on the day she was heading back... just disgusting.
Just caught it today, so... I mean, was this actually meant to be some kind of hip-hop Crossroads like everyone expected when they first announced the movie, or did Hanson actually pull off a solid film based on all those reviews?
Ugh... saw the trailer, did some digging online to see what the deal was, and honestly, I've already kind of forgotten. 🙂Which week are we talking about again?
Honestly, my favorites have to be One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The Shining, and that relatively recent one, As Good as It Gets... man, the guy has presence. Just pure charisma. He gets totally lost in his roles, almost to a manic degree. Oh yeah, speaking of "manic," I can't stop thinking about his Joker... even as a comic book character, he’s just fantastic.
BTW, when is Schmidt coming to our side of the pond?
Heh, this description is basically Highlander 3. Totally spot on, except for one tiny detail.
But Con Air isn't even a bad example. You take one Hero. Give him a poetic name like Cameron Poe (wink, the guy has soul, wink wink) and toss him in prison. But nooo, he’s not the bad guy; he’s as pure as they come. He ended up behind bars because he was defending his wife from some primitive thugs. He's just a heart and soul kind of guy. So there he is, serving his time obediently, and of course, on the exact day he gets released, everything goes to hell. Oh yeah, he’s got a daughter out there he’s never met (ooooh, such a sad life story) who absolutely adores him (even though she hasn't seen him in 5 or 6 years). So, our Hero Cameron returns and ends up surrounded by the worst possible villains. Even if you gathered every villain from Batman in one room, they wouldn't touch this lineup. And leading them is the ultimate loser, a guy with a sinister techno name like Cyrus and an equally nasty nickname, Virus. Seriously, the guy is pure evil.
Once the chaos starts, Cameron faces a massive moral dilemma; he could just run straight to his wife and kid, but noooo! Instead, he chooses to help his wounded, politically correct best friend—a black guy he spent a few long years with in prison—who urgently needs an insulin shot (you know, he's vulnerable, just a human being). Heart and soul, right? So Cameron Poe beats the villains, everyone is pretty much awful, but Cyrus is definitely the nastiest of the bunch and naturally, he's the final boss. Toward the end, there are those typical moronic scenes where a plane almost crashes into a car or whatever. You get hits of those classic Seagal-esque movies here and there; gems like when our Hero, the good father and perfect man with the sad life story, runs away from an exploding plane, only to dive onto the floor at the sight of an orange fireball while some forced electric guitar riff tries to tell us how incredibly skilled he is. It's all great. He chases the bad guy until the very end; when a few remaining bad guys hop into a fire truck, instead of hiding, they just chill on the roof and wait for Cameron's guy to show up on a motorcycle (not just any motorcycle, mind you) to start the fight. After an exhausting brawl where our Hero is obviously in over his head, he wins, and the bad villain Cyrus dies in the most pathetic way possible; he flies into a giant pneumatic hammer and wakes up from unconsciousness just in time to see it coming down on his head. Cameron returns to his wife and kid who have been waiting patiently, and everyone lives happily ever after. His best friend got his injection just in time, so he's all grateful, ready to shed a tear, congratulates our Hero, and they promise to stay best friends forever. All of this happens amidst flashing police lights and ambulances in the middle of Las Vegas, just fifteen minutes after a plane crashed.

Yeah, LOL... if someone tells you they're coming back, just don't hold your breath. They never do.
There's one decent joke in Scary Movie 2—and I mean literally just one. When they say "let's split" and the group breaks apart into white people and Black people who all just go, "heeeeey!" 🙂 There was this one joke back in the Malcolm days... they all end up trapped in some creepy, abandoned amusement park, being hunted by a crazed security guard, and Reese just looks at them and goes, "Let's split!" 🙂)
Horror movies are such a joke. The group always splits up just so they can be picked off one by one—except for the lead, obviously. You don't even see the actual villain until the very end when they finally jump the hero. Most of the time, you just see some random extra lose their mind and start screaming before a sudden cut to black. Ugh, gave me the chills.
casualotter21, give me a break... I remember this one. It was great—just a massive pile of every single cliché imaginable. 🙂
Like how an old veteran cop always dies just two days before retirement... ...or how people in movies use those weird blankets that cover men down to their waists but wrap women up almost to their chins... ...or how aliens always pick on American cities... ...basically— 😁.
Good grief, does every single movie based on a book have to be measured against the source material? They're different mediums, people. Unless the quality is absolute garbage, comparing them like this feels pretty pointless to me.
It’s like looking at a painting of an apple and then eating a real one... "Yeah, it's okay, but man, that painting looks delicious." It makes zero sense.
AMC Theatres is easily the best—they actually have headrests on the seats, unlike those other theaters where everything just feels cheap and flimsy. It's that level of comfort that sets them apart from everyone else. 🙂
