Looking for some advice here.

My Grandfather is battling urinary tract cancer. Between his age (he's 87) and how much he's struggling right now, it's clear he’s nearing the end. He's drifting in and out of clarity, but he knows what's happening. He feels the end is close and has expressed that he just wants to go home to pass away.

We have immediate family and a nurse (who has plenty of palliative care experience) ready to look after him at home. We truly feel that being surrounded by loved ones is a much more humane way to go than dying in a sterile hospital setting.

The Doctor isn't keen on letting him leave because he currently has a fever and his overall condition is quite poor. Even the nurse who would be caring for him says we should follow the Doctor's lead.

My question is: can the family take responsibility and bring him home even if it goes against the Doctor's current stance? What kind of options do we actually have here?

It feels like a complete reversal of the usual situation—you know, where the hospital says there's nothing left to do and wants to discharge a patient, but the family fights to keep them in the hospital until the very end.

Thanks.
First time posting here! I’ve been following this thread for a while now and just wanted to say how much I appreciate it. There is so much vital info here, and the support and motivation people offer is truly incredible.

I don't have any cancer in my immediate family, but lately—especially over the last few years—it feels like I can't go a week without hearing about someone young getting a diagnosis. Even in what I read, the rates of things like carcinoma seem to have skyrocketed recently. It feels like everyone knows at least one person. Just in the last month, I've heard about three different diagnoses among people I actually know. All of them are roughly my age (early 30s) or even younger. The most recent case hit me today—a college student reached out to me to reschedule some exams since she's been away from campus for a year. From our chat, I learned she was diagnosed with breast cancer; she's gone through surgery and radiation, and thankfully, everything seems okay for now.

So, here is what I'm wondering: what is the actual consensus on the causes of carcinoma, melanoma, and the like? Some of the people I've spoken to mentioned their doctors pointed to stress as a major factor.

To be honest, I can see stress playing a part, but blaming *everything* on stress feels like a stretch to me. Sure, life is way more high-pressure now than it was, say, 20 or 30 years ago. But I can't help but think there's something else driving this massive spike in cases—something we're all being exposed to in our daily lives, more or less.

What do you all think?

(This topic is huge! If this has already been covered extensively, please forgive me and just drop a link to that part of the discussion)
Goodbye, The Ramones :( in Music ·
brighthawk20 said:That '90 Ramones concert at Madison Square Garden in front of 16,000 people (!!!) was easily one of the most legendary shows in New York City history. Even The Ramones themselves called it their absolute favorite stop on the whole tour.

Trying to track down that show on VHS is basically like finding a cure for AIDS....

Goodbye, Johnny...😢 😢 😢

GABBA GABBA HEY!

If The Ramones actually thought that show was their best one, then that entire tour must have been total garbage. They wouldn't even come out for an encore, and they were losing their minds on stage because of all the firecrackers.

16,000 people? Yeah, right...

Even The Ramones totally bombed halfway through the set..

Still, they’re my go-to listen to this day. Whether I'm chilling in my room or hitting the gas in my car to the beat. I even head down to the local clubs for listening sessions or whenever someone organizes a "Tribute night." Guess we'll see if another Tribute night concert pops up soon.

Hey, I’m actually looking to get some definition while simultaneously building mass. Is that even doable?

And what should my diet look like? I'm aiming to pack on another 10 pounds, but I want to keep that shredded, vascular look...

Up until now, I’ve been working with 10-pound dumbbells, hitting sets of 50 to 80 reps at a time. Should I stick with that approach?
How to drop 3 lbs fast? in Health ·
I’ve got a quick question too:

I’m carrying a few extra pounds and really want to drop them. At the same time, I'm looking to lean out my abs, chest, and arms—basically build some muscle. I’d love to get those vascular veins popping on my arms, too! What’s the move here? Just so you know, I want this done before summer hits, and I am fully committed to making it happen.

I heard there’s this crazy diet at the local Whole Foods that can help you drop 10 pounds in just a couple of weeks...

What should my diet look like?

Oh, and I really want to boost my cardio, too. Is running the way to go for that?
Doors Down in Music ·
neoneagle15 said:Does anyone actually listen to 3 Doors Down? I’ve picked up a few tracks, like "loser," and honestly, they're pretty solid for me...

Yeah, sure, people call them commercial or whatever, but who cares?

What does being "commercial" even mean? I hate all that labeling. You either like the music or you don't! Or maybe you're somewhere in the middle!

I think their stuff is great. I love that specific sound. To me, "loser" is easily their best track—especially the acoustic version—even if "Kryptonite" was definitely more of a massive radio hit.

There's one line in there that always sticks with me:

If I go crazy
Than will you still call me Superman...

I just love statements like that! Seriously, would you mind explaining what you mean by "the best"? I'm dying to know!

Could you please clarify what you mean? I'd love to hear more about your take on Yoga and that decision from the United Nations.

Honestly, I’d probably show up just out of pure spite if that woman were actually there, just to see how she'd try to screw me over...

Does anyone know where I can get custom T-shirt printing done here in NYC? Any idea what the typical cost per shirt is?

A bit late to be getting into them, don't you think? They were absolutely massive back in the late 80s and early 90s when they dropped . After that, they kind of faded out—they put out one album in the mid-90s that was a total disaster.

I wonder if there are any other hits left?

The only thing I can really bring myself to listen to nowadays is "Youth run Wild," but even then, it's a once-in-a-blue-moon kind of thing for me...

Amy Turner10 said:"What are you listening to?" is one of those go-to questions people throw out when they first meet.

Honestly, I feel like this question is totally dying out. I haven't heard it—or even asked it myself—in ages! It used to be such a staple, though. You know, just "Hey, how's it going? I'm... and you? So, what's on your playlist?"

It feels like that whole culture of being defined by certain genres has kind of faded away, hasn't it? Maybe we've all just moved on, or life's gotten too busy to care about musical labels. Even Pete was mentioning something similar on CNN just the other day...

The medical diagnosis is condyloma acuminata, currently in remission.

I was given this top diagnosis about six months ago. Has anyone else here dealt with this? Is it actually dangerous, or am I just overthinking things?
