Dante said:In today's edition of The New York Times, an article titled "Will Bill Clinton pick a fight with the USA over American cinema?" explores a recent announcement from the Secretary of Culture, unknown, suggesting that a percentage of every movie ticket sold would go toward a fund to develop the domestic film industry. Filmmakers have been lobbying for this for ages, but politicians have just sat on their hands and refused to make it happen.
I am absolutely not buying into this proposal 🙄 for one very simple reason: our filmmakers have mastered the art of milking various government funds dry.
That’s why they couldn't care less whether a movie actually draws a crowd, let alone if it even gets picked up for distribution outside the US.
All they care about is padding their pockets, filming their project, and then patting themselves on the back for being so "creative" and "inspired."
And honestly, I'm not even surprised by how pathetic the theater attendance is lately... especially since we're seeing movie theaters closing down left and right.
DVDs and streaming have basically kicked movies out of the big screen and straight into our living rooms.
