Back in the day, you knew exactly what you were getting—Mercedes would absolutely tear up the qualifying sessions while Ferrari held their own with solid race pace. Now? It’s anyone's guess which setup actually favors the Mercedes.

It feels like the season wrapped up before it even actually got going. 😢

When the Safety Car pulls out in front of the pack, those laps don't count toward the total—instead, we revert back to a standard standing start (this specifically applies when things get messy in the rain, so there's no more rolling starts here)
Now, whether that rule kicks in for every single restart following an SC period... I honestly couldn't tell you.

Lujo
+ 30 sec Bottas
+ 70 sec Vettel
+ 1 lap Kimi
+ 2 lap Max
+ 2 Lap Ricc
+ 3 lap Massa
....
Nah, won't happen—there's always some random SC right at the end to bunch everyone back up anyway.

There’s been this incredibly intense, heated debate going on over on the forums lately—specifically regarding "Jeopardy! being way too niche—questions only ever coming from that tiny circle of 'quiz enthusiasts'" which was originally kicked off by Guggenheim.
The thread got locked today, even though everyone seemed to be keeping things civil and staying on topic without any unnecessary drama or off-topic tangents. Why does that happen? Any ideas?

That’s going to be a real treat next year. It looks great.
What's your biggest motivation in life?

If you can push it off until tomorrow, why bother doing it today?

The people on this forum calling out Pontius Pilate actually have a point.
Every single thread he touches turns into some "Pilate vs. Everyone Else" showdown—it gets impossible to follow after just a few pages.
The guy basically feels the need to troll any discussion that actually makes sense.
The Beautiful Our Land PDF and the NYC PDF generally get much lighter moderation compared to the rest of the board. It was the same deal back when Bloomberg was running things.
We haven't let up on Pilate or his crowd since day one, and well... look where that got us.

Just fight, man. Drive the car, race!! The instant there's a complaint and hand-waving, it just makes me sick.
You can hate Hamilton all you want, but the guy is a racer. Meanwhile, everyone wants to stop every single time there's a duel just to start calculating and debating who was wrong, why they were wrong, because of this, because of that...
Lewis cut across the chicane, sure, but he didn't gain anything because Ricciardo was right on his tail trying to make a move, and Lewis just shut him down. Move on. Race, Ricciardo!! No, instead he waves his hands, crying about how everyone ruined his race...🙂
And then the stewards announce they're going to go discuss the situation—man, whatever happened to just pure, healthy racing? They deliberate over every little nothing, deciding if someone needs a penalty.
F1 is getting more ridiculous by the day. The whole meaning of the word "racing" is being lost.
What’s your take—why do you think Ricciardo was waving his arms and protesting like that?
Did you see how Hamilton was squeezing him off?

Red Bull really screwed the pooch this year.
I mean, seriously—where was the leadership's head at?

As it stands, expect nothing but debris and a constant stream of Safety Cars.
It’ll still turn out to be a decent enough race, I suppose. 77 laps—probably pushing right up against the two-hour mark.

Rain, rain 🎉
I’m expecting the unexpected—like seeing if Germany breaks down again, though honestly, that wouldn't even be a surprise at this point.
What would actually be unexpected? If Ricciardo holds his nerve and the Ferrari pit wall doesn't completely blow it.

mellowtiger83 said:I've been sitting here thinking—Daniel Ricciardo starting on those hard compounds from Mercedes-Benz is a total mess. Why? Because Mercedes-Benz is going to pit early, and once they get onto those fresh tires, they’ll pull off a perfect undercut to leapfrog Richie right after he finally switches over.
There's definitely going to be a safety car tomorrow—it's almost a guarantee at this point. It’ll help some people and screw others over, but it should make things pretty interesting.
It feels like Mercedes-Benz has the edge on pure pace, and if they nail that undercut on the new ultrasoft tires, they could pull off something crazy—especially Lewis Hamilton, assuming the car actually holds together.
Honestly, I think everyone is spending way too much energy typing out arguments about tire choices—hard, soft, whatever. It doesn't matter.
Tomorrow is going to be about something else entirely :klap:

The forecast is calling for heavy thunderstorms this Sunday—plus, things won't be nearly as warm. Maybe Ford is cooking up some kind of rain-focused setup, though I honestly find that hard to believe.

It’s kind of interesting how Mercedes managed to find some serious pace on this specific track—even while Red Bull was basically running circles around everyone else everywhere else

Exactly.
That's why some of the posts here just don't make sense to me—it’s basic stuff. Hamilton was the one in the driver's seat who should have just hit the brakes and looked for an opening later on.
Even if we assume Rosberg pushed him off—which, let's be real, Ham denies—he still had plenty of time to react instead of just forcing the issue.

Hamilton knew if he didn't snatch that lead back immediately, his chances at the win were basically dead in the water.
Ros would have had the upper hand coming into the pits, especially since this track layout makes overtaking a total nightmare. But hey, that's just how it goes, I guess.
Maybe we should be looking at that suicidal move in turn three as the real turning point.
Still, none of that explains why Hamilton's starts have been so pathetic this season. I mean, he’s never exactly been known for his launch, but lately, if he's starting on the front row, you can pretty much count on him to mess it up.
