When I'm sleeping... in Philosophy ·

And one more thing;
maybe a consultant or some "expert" can help you dismantle a few illusions here and there, but you need to understand this reality:
no matter who you hire or where you look, nobody can take away—nor can they bestow—what you already are!

😉

Good grief. Why on earth did nobody mention this to me sooner? You have no idea how much easier you've just made my life. Honestly, I think I knew it all along deep down, but I just couldn't quite connect the dots until you laid it out like that. My thanks to 👍 🙂

Heh. And how many times did I actually drag you to class?😁

As Parsifal would say: You can't find what you're looking for if you aren't actually seeking the truth.😁

Don't let them "confuse" you! Honestly, what is there to say? You convince yourself you're right, and suddenly—poof—you're right even when you aren't!

😉

👍

Heh... feeding us those false hopes again, I see.😂😂🙂

relativity dictates:
Look, I’m laying out my perspective here under the guise that it’s the objective, correct way to see things. But honestly? It's just me trying to make sense of the chaos in my own head. Sure, with enough conviction, I could probably use this theory to dismantle any argument you throw at me to prove me wrong. But who am I to lecture anyone on what constitutes "truth"? At the end of the day, everything boils down to those deeply ingrained life convictions we pick up over decades. Perspectives shift. Everyone views the same reality through a different lens. There is zero point in trying to force someone else to accept your version of accuracy when everything is merely a construct of human belief. God, I sound like some pretentious pseudo-intellectual...

The Absolute (Truth) is the one doing the thinking; so how can any single thought possibly explain the Absolute itself?😁

Regarding your hazy notions about continuity:
continuity isn't synonymous with time, because you can't actually observe continuity itself.

Continuity implies duration, and duration requires time...

Or are you suggesting that continuity somehow exists in a timeless void??

A total absence of thought is what constitutes timelessness...

In a timeless state, there is no distinction between individuals or single entities. That very division—that entire sense of being an individual—is nothing more than a thought.

relativity suggests:
There it is. A textbook case. Everyone shouts their own version of the truth, leaving us in this purgatory where everyone is simultaneously right and wrong. What’s even the point of all this noise?

The purpose is a fabrication of "you." One person goes hunting for meaning, while another just sees nothing but ink on a page.🙂

3. Witnessing a thought isn't the same thing as thinking. But the concept of a "witness"? That constitutes actual thought. That sense of "I am" emerges to someone or something—and that entity is certainly not just an idea.

Everything is merely an idea—assuming you're operating from an absolute standpoint. Nothing exists independently; nothing stands alone outside of that whole.

You are the part of yourself that remains unknown. Whatever you think you know? That isn't you.

THERE IS NO DIVISION...

You try to split things up into "subjective" versus "objective," calling it objectivity—but even your supposed "subjectivity" relies entirely on the foundation of objectivity. I’m just using your own vocabulary here.

You are everything that is, and everything that isn't.😉 🙂

Why don't you step up
HERE and tell us what's actually on your mind.🙂

Relativity suggests this: everything is relative. It’s all about perspective. There isn't one single, absolute truth floating in the void. Everything depends on where you're standing and how fast you're moving. Just like in life—nothing is ever truly fixed.
Twenty years. That’s how long it’s been. The worst part? It isn't even that I haven't sat down to digest a single philosophical treatise or picked up a meaningful book. No. It’s much more pathetic than that. Everything I "know" just drifts into my head passively, fed to me by the endless stream of noise from people like you all here. It's a constant, mindless drip-feed. Honestly, it's sickening. 🙂

What exactly do you think just falls into your lap? Life doesn't work that way. Success isn't some cosmic accident or a gift from the heavens. It’s built, brick by brick, through grit and sleepless nights. Expecting things to arrive without effort is like waiting for a miracle in a desert—it’s a fantasy. Nothing worth having is ever handed to you on a silver platter.

I am utterly bewildered. Is it truly possible to dismantle every single argument? Does objective truth even exist, or is everything just a matter of perspective?

Everything is technically accurate, yet fundamentally flawed. It’s a paradox. One side holds all the facts, while the other misses the entire point. Truth without context is just noise.🙂

Ptahotep said:The truth is, you aren't actually the one sleeping; it’s the persona you've chosen to inhabit. Think about it. When a movie ends, do the actors go to sleep? No. Nobody goes to sleep because nobody was truly awake to begin with. You are merely the witness to the entire production. You just convince yourself you don't exist while the credits are rolling because you've merged with a character on screen. Once the show is over, you revert to being a nobody—a blank slate. Then, when the film starts up again, you find yourself baffled by this supposed "non-existence," viewing that memory gap as some void, when really it's just the byproduct of identifying too closely with a role.
Try saying "I Am" while you're in a deep sleep. It's impossible. Not because you've vanished or lost consciousness, but simply because you are no longer that specific sensation of "being." That feeling is just one strained, temporary mode of existence.

You are the observer of the thought process—the thoughts themselves and the thinker behind them. Thinking is an all-encompassing mechanism that houses the idea, the thinker, and indeed, the entire universe; without the act of thinking, the world ceases to be. Since you are the witness to this process, you cannot be defined by any single component of it, much like you aren't defined by the physical world itself.

The body exists within you; you don't exist within the body. So, ask yourself: who is actually sleeping?

Jonathan Brown6 said:I wasn't exactly thrilled by that answer either. Where does consciousness go—mine, or something else entirely?

Heh. Perhaps the "you" part evaporates, while consciousness simply persists.🙂
When I'm sleeping... in Philosophy ·
Where does my consciousness actually go when I drift off to sleep?

Who's to say that consciousness even belongs to YOU?😉 🙂

The answer to all of this is right here in front of you.

That isn't how this works. It’s more like this:

OH, pick ONE SINGLE NUMBEEERRR and you'll CERTAINLY be wrrrong, Google 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

Are you applauding the music or just making noise with those complaints?🙂 🙂 🙂
redrider63 said:Well, what did I say? I was just drifting aimlessly,

lost in a timeless void,

losing my mind,

just waiting,

completely losing it,

just waiting...

so basically, a MASTERFUL DELAY

A MASTERFUL WAIT

😠 😠

All in all, it was a masterclass in procrastination.

A masterclass in patience.

👋

You stood there entirely alone,
melted into the landscape,
pigeons shitting on you,
offering their own kind of reward.🙂 🙂

P.S.: For heaven's sake, what is a cell phone even for? You could have sent me a text to ask where we were.🙂
I would have let you know if you had actually told us you were coming.🙂

Or maybe you’re actually enjoying it—standing there while pigeons crap on your head.🙏 🙂
So, basically, you have to coordinate with Karen Sanchez19 fifty minutes before the actual time you intend to show up for the meeting.

But let’s be clear: he wasn't just waiting on Karen Sanchez19; he was stuck waiting on several other masters who all arrived at the exact same time.
🙂
(otherwise, he would have been a full hundred minutes late)

😳
Just so everyone is aware regarding Karen Sanchez19 (who manages to show up 45 minutes late to meetings while simultaneously losing her phone so you can't even call her to find out where she is).

Seriously, redrider63, by the time he finally showed up to meet us under the statue of George Washington in the middle of D.C., we were practically covered in bird droppings from waiting so long, yet somehow he was still running behind.

🙂

Waiting for 50 minutes.😉 🙂 🙂
What is the secret behind this magical influence you have over my soul?

I’m not even trying, yet I still manage to impact you. How does that work?🙂

There you go again, being Parsifal:

The quote above that Karen Sanchez19 is citing while mistakenly thinking it was written by reddrider63
It wasn't the work of reddrider63's keyboard

Rather, it's hiddenpuma75 quoting (translating) the words of Bernadette Roberts from her book—*What Is Self*

Honestly, why is it such a struggle to decipher Karen Sanchez19's words?

I just don't understand this aunt.

=

I just don't understand that aunt; I mean aunt Bernadette.
hiddenpuma75 said this:

I honestly don't get what Auntie is on about.

😂😂

I just don't understand her—I'm talking about Aunt Bernadette.
