I'm still the same person at 30 as I was at 18... is that normal?

I cannot say for certain whether it is or isn't, but that is my impression. That being said, reading through your words makes me realize that my own struggles with OCD can be somewhat overwhelming, so if you wouldn't mind, I would appreciate the opportunity to chat via private message.

There's really no reason to be scared of a psychiatrist—that's their whole job, helping people. This sounds like classic OCD and nothing else, which is actually good news, right? 👍

"7. Unwanted sexual thoughts
Much like the fear of violent imagery, intrusive sexual thoughts frequently surface for those living with OCD. These thoughts are typically inappropriate and touch upon various sexual taboos, such as imagining pedophilic acts or bestiality."
Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) might be able to help you out... medications like Prozac, Zoloft, and things of that nature... please, just head over to a psychiatrist without any hesitation—be completely honest with them—and don't worry about a thing, because you aren't broken at all, you're going to be fine!!

It’s perfectly normal to get this positive, happy, emotional rush in your brain when you’re petting a dog... which I guess you’re confusing with sexual excitement. I don't know, I'm probably just rambling here.😁
George Cook said:Does it ever feel awkward when you’re around kids, knowing the inevitable questions from others are coming? "When are you getting married?" or "When are you having kids?" You start anticipating the pressure before they even open their mouths.
It hits differently when you realize that if you're gay, the path to parenthood is often limited to adoption rather than biology.
🤔
Lawrence Anderson19 said:I’m telling you, those questions are what if fundamental components of your business plan. If you didn't have a plan, you wouldn't be asking them in the first place.
Lawrence Anderson19 said:It doesn't just vanish on its own. This is an illness that requires treatment from professionals. It isn't a phase that comes and goes; it is a psychological disorder. That question about what happens when the OCD "passes" is actually part of the OCD itself—the dark thoughts, the foreboding, the panic attacks, and the constant speculation. Self-doubt and intense questioning are core components of OCD. Over time, the specific fear regarding pedophilia will likely fade, but a different fear will take its place. It is a continuous cycle.
Joseph Jones2 said:Look, I wasn't even worked up about this at first. Honestly, I’m feeling pretty chill right now. But you? You're out here acting like you're in a total crisis—I mean, that's literally what your headline says, you're asking for help. Well, newsflash: I already gave it to you. Maybe I was a little blunt or came on too strong, but you just aren't seeing it because you're choosing to stay in this headspace. It seems like, for some reason, staying stressed actually works for you.
Honestly, I think your whole "cure" boils down to one thing: you just need to get some manual labor in. You know, get your hands dirty and actually work with your body so that—as you put it—your brain finally stops messing with you. That’s really all you need, and honestly? Nothing else.
So, you’ve basically diagnosed yourself with "my brain just loves messing with me," and honestly? I get it. I really do. It’s like there's a tiny, mischievous little gremlin living in your head just waiting for the perfect moment to throw a wrench in your gears. But hey, if you think the cure for that mental chaos is just getting out there and doing some actual, honest-to-god physical labor, I'm not gonna argue with you. Sometimes you just gotta sweat it out to quiet the noise.
And hey, don't forget that old saying—idle hands are the devil's workshop. Honestly, I’d suggest finding some actual work to do; I bet it would do wonders for clearing your head and helping you move past this whole obsession with being a predator.
Joseph Jones2 said:Are you running some kind of social experiment here to see how people react if you claim to be a pedophile? Just so you know, you can't really "think" you are or aren't one—it's not some sort of mental state where you can sit there observing your own thoughts thinking about whether or not you're thinking those things. You either are or you aren't, and you definitely aren't. But hey, it’s pretty obvious you just love messing around for no reason...
Seriously, go see a psychiatrist tomorrow and tell them you think you're a pedophile. I'd love to see what they do with that.
Total waste of time.

What you're actually experiencing is just a chaotic cocktail of distorted perceptions and societal pressures—labels slapped on by a culture drowning in paranoia and fears rooted in pure ignorance.
The US is certainly more advanced than Pakistan, but we still have such a massive gap to bridge before we can truly claim the collective consciousness of a fully developed society...
Lawrence Bailey77 said:Well, that’s easy enough to say... just like how you ignore politicians, degenerates, and the scum of society... how you ignore corruption, the mob, murders, assaults, fraud, lies, wars, slavery, famine, poverty, even cannibalism... I guess it's all possible to just look the other way.☕
Have you actually pulled it off? 😉
Good luck with that! 👍
Donna White50 said:Yeah, when you've got OCD, your brain treats you like a little kid. Since you're constantly thinking about these things in a sexual context, you can end up having fantasies about kids, or whatever else your OCD is fixated on. It's just like how if you imagine certain food, you can almost taste it, smell it, or crave it... similarly, you can pull all sorts of stuff into sexual fantasies, and of course, you can get stimulated—and then naturally, you might misinterpret that stimulation as arousal and get an erection.
So basically, an erection isn't proof that you're attracted to kids, it's just that you're sexually triggered and hypersensitive to stimulation.
Getting an erection doesn't mean you're going to attack a child, just like men aren't going to attack a woman just because she triggers sexual thoughts or an erection.
Just look at how intense and irrational your fear is... did you go out and assault some boy just because you got turned on? Think about it... your mind is playing these brutal, totally irrational games with you.
You aren't a pedophile. If you're feeling some kind of "devilish" sensation that you're interpreting as arousal, that's just anxiety. If you happen to get an erection, it's not because of the kids, it's because you're totally hyper-focused on the sexual sensations you're feeling and you're experiencing arousal based on that...
I could write a whole novel about this, honestly. Because of this stuff, OCD is incredibly hard on patients—it can literally drive you insane. People with OCD disorders end up scrubbing their houses for days because they're terrified of germs, or avoiding men because they're scared they might be gay... it's just that kind of crap...
Donna White50 said:Just asking. If you know for sure who you're attracted to, then it's totally fine.
That OCD loop is going to hit you a lot. Every time you feel down or get lost in your thoughts, it’ll come back. Your job is to just ignore it... stay mindful of how you handled things today without any issues, and know you'll do the same in the future. If a problem pops up, you'll handle it just like you always have. After working on yourself for a few months, it should fade away...
I'm attracted to women and I'm married, but I love to daydream about all sorts of things, so having fantasies isn't exactly rare for me.
Donna White50 said:But then how can you really know who you're attracted to? And you mentioned struggling with accepting that you're gay...🤔
Like, what specifically draws you to guys versus girls—both physically and emotionally? How long have men been on your radar? Are your fantasies strictly one-way, or do they involve both?
Look, since you tend to overthink things and deal with OCD, it’s super easy to run into sexuality issues that haven't been fully worked through. Without actual physical experience, you aren't really seeing the full picture of how it plays out or which way you lean more... right now, it's all just happening in your head, and we both know how wild the imagination can get...
Just something to chew on. Unresolved questions about your sexuality, combined with unaddressed stuff or past heartbreaks, can seriously mess with how you perceive your own identity. Sexuality is such a massive spectrum—hardly anyone is purely one thing or the other; most people fall somewhere in the middle. Even if you identify as gay, it doesn't mean you won't have certain fantasies or find the opposite sex attractive at times, and vice versa. It's a pretty fluid and interesting thing...
It might actually be worth grabbing a session with a therapist to talk this through...
Lawrence Anderson19 said:Go see a psychiatrist. They will explain what's going on and prescribe medication that should help you feel better.
Michael Diaz6 said:You really asked him "when was the last time you had sex"?
Maybe he can't answer because he's doing it right this second. 😂
He isn't joking around, I just turned the topic into a joke myself, though it wasn't entirely a joke..
By acting like he's "not serious," I'm basically taking the weight out of what he's saying so he realizes how ridiculous he sounds...
and eventually he'll stop.
It's actually more like therapy than a joke...
I guess I just realized he’s already in treatment. 😁
Donna White50 said:So wait, if you aren't going all out, how exactly are you handling things down there? lol...🤣
Hahaha...
The guy's just messing with us—I asked him when he last hooked up and he totally dodged the question, which pretty much tells you everything you need to know...🍿
