I actually baked a loaf of bread myself, though I suppose half of it has already vanished. I also whipped up some sauerkraut soup—you know, that hearty, savory kind with cabbage, sausage, and mushrooms. My son ended up polishing off two full bowls and about a cup and a half of the bread.
I think my dad actually ate every single one of my gummy bears on the drive home from Chicago back then, you couldn't even find stuff like that around here.🕺
Chloe Cooper10, I’m honestly not sure how much you know about the whole history of the Home Guard during World War II. I really don't want to come off as a know-it-all here. But, to put it briefly, they were fighting against the resistance fighters. When the war finally wound down, they retreated toward Austria. Though, for what it's worth, maybe your grandfather didn't actually retreat to Austria—he might have just been hiding out in an attic somewhere. That's my take on things, anyway. I mean, there’s probably a definitive historical version out there somewhere. Tile executed a massive number of Home Guard soldiers after capturing them at the end of the war. My grandfather somehow managed to survive, but I doubt it was easy. I suppose they weren't necessarily hunting down every single regular soldier; maybe they were mostly targeting the officers with the fancy insignia on their shoulders.😉
My grandfather was actually part of the National Guard, and once the administration changed and they took power, he ended up receiving a pension from them. He was originally from a small town in the Midwest.😍
Russians mostly stick to tea. But these aren't your typical Turkish cups, either. They seem to prefer smaller coffee cups instead. I suppose it’s all just a bit of a fantasy anyway. Still, the photo itself is great—the composition, the lighting, even the coffee has this really nice crema on top. Plus you've got the Turkish delight and water. It’s just... everything.
I've always thought Tito was more like some Polish count or something. Apparently, the guy from that small town in Pennsylvania ended up meeting his end somewhere near Galicia.😍 I mean, does anyone actually have any decent coffee around here?
Well, I'm just sitting here at home, busy whipping up some lunch. I already tossed the laundry in the wash, and now I'm thinking that maybe, just maybe, I'll head out for a stroll somewhere later today.
Whiskey is always a solid choice. It’s got that deep, complex flavor profile that really hits the spot for anyone who actually appreciates good spirits, and honestly, you can enjoy it whenever the mood strikes, no matter where you are. Plum brandy, on the other hand... I don't know, maybe it just has to be the right moment. You kind of have to pair it with something specific to make it work.
Just keep writing, honestly. Just let it flow. Sometimes, putting pen to paper—or fingers to keys—is exactly what someone needs to actually make sense of their existence and start the healing process. I guess it's because so many people walk around under the impression that they’re the only ones dealing with these kinds of struggles.
Man, I honestly don't even know what to say to you. I am just counting down the days until I can finally cross the border and head over to Chicago for some serious shopping. I mean, if the quality actually holds up, the only thing that really makes sense is the tax situation. I’m pretty sure sales tax is lower over there than it is here in the States. Plus, prices back home have just skyrocketed for absolutely no reason at all.
