But it turns out everything they said was actually true, and things really do play out exactly how they warned me. 🙂 Now I try my best not to throw that "just you wait" line at other people, but I guess sometimes it just slips out 😁
Even if it is true... why do people get so defensive when you tell them you already know? It’s like, let’s face it, all babies are basically the same little chaos agents. 😁 Seriously, try telling someone their baby isn't just a tiny, stubborn little individual—they're just... a baby! 😁
And look, just because you occasionally can't help but point it out doesn't mean you're hunting for a chance to rub it in, or that you failed at being some kind of "perfect mom"—maybe there's just a fine line between sharing your experience and feeling like you're lecturing them. 🙂
Sentences that always start with: "Just you wait..."
It feels like I can't even share my two cents anymore without getting hit with that same old threat 😁 Like, there's zero room for debate because once someone has kids, they suddenly think they have some kind of ultimate authority—meanwhile, us pregnant women are just supposed to sit tight, shut up, and wait our turn 🙂😁
Ugh, we all know the type. Those total hihotavacs who act all sweet—hugging you, kissing your feet—but the second you turn your back, their face just sours and they start dropping these nasty, passive-aggressive comments. I guess some people actually dig that vibe because it makes them feel important, like they’re somehow superior to everyone else. But honestly? It's just pure, unadulterated ego.
Pride is basically just that deep sense of satisfaction you get when you actually nail something.
Don't go confusing it with being stuck-up or dealing with some massive ego complex.
A guy who’s genuinely proud of himself? He’s solid—strong, confident, someone you can actually count on. He doesn't need a constant pat on the back from everyone else to feel okay about himself, even if he always ends up attracting followers or people who are, well, half-admiring and half-jealous at the same time. Honestly, I don't think there's anyone people love and hate more than someone who carries themselves with real pride.
Now, in relationships, "pride" usually gets a bad rap—people act like it's this toxic thing that gets in the way of feelings, which is why you hear all that advice like, "just swallow your pride!" But let's be real... most of the time, that isn't actually pride. It's just fear, insecurity, and lying to yourself so you don't have to deal with feeling betrayed or hurt.
At its core, pride is a total win—both for the individual working toward it and for the people around them, because it honestly just makes everything better.
Honestly, if that kind of lifestyle doesn't drive you crazy, then I don't see why it wouldn't be totally fine. I mean, what even counts as "normal" these days?
The only thing I can't wrap my head around is why you're questioning yourself and how you live your life if you're actually happy with it. If you're second-guessing everything, there’s gotta be something missing... maybe just a craving for a different level of responsibility?
I think a lot of us look back on those carefree, easygoing days with a ton of nostalgia—but let's be real, being an adult is way more complicated. I honestly don't know how anyone could find that sort of adolescent, aimless lifestyle interesting again in the long run once you've experienced actual ups and downs and deeper, more mature relationships.
For example: there was a time when I thought Bukowski was the absolute goat, and I was totally obsessed with Tarantino's chaotic energy. But looking back now? Their stories just feel kind of childish and uninspiring 🥱 Not because I've suddenly turned into some super serious, boring adult or anything, but mostly because I think I just lived through that phase of my life where all that stuff actually mattered to me.
Brenda Hughes2 said:You just tell them, "Oh, nothing much—they're going straight into the chili pot," and you just sit there watching their faces😬
Who's down for some homemade chili? 😁
Amy Green4, look, even if it wasn't about sex, it would still be something else entirely—don't you worry about that for a second.
Some people are just straight-up trash, honestly.🙂 Just try not to let their noise get under your skin. It’s always the shallowest minds who constantly have someone or something to gossip about—it's like they can't help themselves. They totally remind me of those nosy old ladies back in small-town America who think it's their full-time job to stick their noses into everyone else's business.
And I mean, let's be real, you can't exactly go walking around the US trying to hide every single little detail about being pregnant, especially when it's basically the center of your whole universe right now.🙂
amberangler12 said:Oh man, my mom is exactly the same way—I swear she’s constantly checking my weight every single time we talk, acting all worried about whether I'm gaining enough... meanwhile, I've got this pregnancy bump and my weight gain is actually right on track according to my doctor. Every time we catch up, she’s immediately grilling me about what I've eaten or offering to pack me some Tupperware meals to take with me. 😵 But honestly? I have zero appetite. My one big craving so far was just mandarins, and even those are starting to lose their charm... it's actually kind of exhausting!
And don't even get me started on those annoying little comments people make, like "just wait until the baby arrives..." To me, those feel like straight-up threats! It's such nonsense to say that to a pregnant woman—whatever I say, they just hit me with that "well, you'll see how it really goes" attitude. It’s as if nothing will ever go the way my partner and I actually planned it in our heads. Like, oh, the crib won't stay organized, the baby won't sleep in their bassinet, they won't sleep at all... suddenly everyone decides it's better to do things "their way" instead. Honestly, sometimes I just want to leave the hospital with the baby and head straight to a deserted island in the middle of nowhere just so everyone will finally leave me alone!
Oh man, looks like there are more of us!🙂
It drives me absolutely crazy when people use those "just you wait until the baby comes" threats. To me, they literally sound like threats! Like, why on earth would you say that to a pregnant woman? It's such nonsense. No matter what I say, it's always some variation of "well, just you wait," as if everything won't go exactly the way my partner and I have planned out in our heads. Like, oh, the baby won't sleep in the crib, or won't use the swaddles, or just won't sleep at all... okay, fine! Honestly, I'd rather just walk out of the hospital and head straight to a deserted island in Hawaii so everyone would finally just leave me alone!
Ugh, tell me about it. This is easily one of my biggest pet peeves! First, it was the whole "just you wait until you're pregnant" thing, and since I haven't been pulling any crazy stunts lately, they've pushed the "prophecy" back to my actual due date. And then there's the constant attempt to scare the men—you know, telling them how much of a whirlwind things get once the hormones hit, or how the baby will never stop crying, or heaven forbid you have pets—they act like the animals are going to turn into monsters overnight! It feels like people just say that stuff to boost their own egos, honestly.
Another thing that really gets under my skin is how people I used to be totally casual with suddenly act like they need to know every single detail of my life. And because I'm not married to the dad, they start throwing these incredibly "creative" and nosy questions my way, too.🙂
It honestly drives me up the wall how my mom has been prepping me to be "the fat one" since the second I found out I was pregnant. It started with her basically telling me that I’ll finally have an excuse to pack on the pounds, and then it turned into this constant poking and prodding every few days about how much weight I've put on. We were even shopping for coats together the other day, and she’s insisting I need to size up two notches because of the "inevitable" weight gain—all while acting totally baffled that my bump isn't huge yet, unlike some lady she knows from her yoga class who looks like she's carrying a bowling ball. Since she gained like 70 pounds during her own pregnancy, she’s dead set on the idea that I’m following the exact same path... The first thing out of her mouth when she sees me is usually some comment about how I haven't gotten big enough yet. It’s just non-stop talk about pounds, pounds, pounds! As if being pregnant is just this endless cycle of overeating and ballooning up. And then I start remembering all those nasty things she used to say about other women's pregnancies—how "grossly obese" they looked, almost like she was looking at something diseased rather than just a person having a baby...
And it’s not just her—other people constantly feel the need to judge my belly or my chest, questioning why I’m not hungry or shoving high-calorie junk in my face. Meanwhile, I’m actually feeling pretty much the same as before, except I can't stand certain stuff anymore, so I've cut out the junk food entirely.
Then you get these "concerned" comments about how I’m definitely going to start craving greasy, fatty food any minute now. And honestly? Most of the people saying this are the ones who struggle with their weight normally, as if being pregnant gave them a free pass to just binge eat without judgment?! It feels super awkward to even think that, but I don't see why else they'd be making these comments.

Man, you're really 🤣 making me feel like I have to defend myself here 🙂
. No, seriously—I think someone who leans too hard into self-pity just needs to take that little streak of masochism they have and smother it with a healthy dose of common sense. It’s basically trash behavior when you focus entirely on your own wants and needs instead of looking at how things are actually unfair to you and everyone else. The whole point is learning how to stand up for yourself without being a jerk to everybody else in the process 🙂
.
Honestly, I was asking myself those exact same questions back when this thread first blew up 😉
You honestly gotta be a total jerk (it’s kind of a funny word, 🙂 )
