Back when I was a huge fan, judging by their live sets online, their energy always felt slightly off to me. You think everything will be fine at the show, and then suddenly 👎
The Chicago show was decent enough. Then again, maybe those Budweisers skewed my judgment. 😁

There was a certain period during puberty. 😁It wasn't just about being obsessed with the band; I was completely hooked on the songs and the vocals too. I listened to them on loop, non-stop. I even went as far as buying the albums and memorizing every single lyric. That was basically my life back then.😁 Eventually, it all just faded into memory. Every now and then, if a track comes on the radio, I’ll get a little spark of joy and turn up the volume to sing along, but that old euphoria? It's gone.
I think everyone goes through that phase where they just obsessively blast The Doors. 😁
Back in the day, picking out a monitor was a breeze. You had a set budget, knew what size you wanted, and usually just chose between two models. But nowadays? It’s a headache. There are way too many variables involved, so I could use some help here: I'm looking at the 24" to 27" range. My usage varies, but it really boils down to gaming (Doom, The Witcher, etc.). My budget is $500, though I'm willing to shell out a little extra if it actually makes sense. My current GPU is an AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB. Any advice?
Exactly. Uninstall the drivers, then try a deeper uninstall, then an even more thorough one that wipes half the registry. Use a specialized utility, boot into Safe Mode... Or just reinstall macOS entirely. Mess around with the BIOS settings. Basically, start from scratch. 😁 This is solid advice. Truly worth its weight in gold. 👍
fadedorca66, thanks for the tip, you nailed it. I swapped out the BIOS, got everything running, then switched back and flashed it—now both are working perfectly. Honestly, I feel a bit (okay, a lot) foolish for wasting two whole days on something that took me thirty minutes to fix once I knew what to do. 😁
fadedorca66 said:Did you flash the BIOS on the GPU or the motherboard? It's highly likely someone messed with the graphics card BIOS, and now it’s acting up.
Since the card has dual bios, look for a physical toggle switch on the unit itself. Flip it to the secondary BIOS while the PC is powered down and see if the behavior changes.
That’s a good point; I didn't think of that. I'll give it a shot and let you know how it goes. Thx.
So, I picked up a cheap NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 nitro+ 8GB (mostly for mining 😁), plugged it into my old motherboard that supposedly supports it, hooked up the power, fired up the PC, installed the latest drivers, and—nothing. The Device Manager actually recognizes the card, but there’s a yellow exclamation mark with the message: “macOS has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)”. 😵 I’ve tried every troubleshooting step I could find—flashing the BIOS, clean driver installs, even a full reinstall of macOS. Same result every time. Anyway, I'm stuck with this GPU and I need some help:
1. Any recommendations on how to test the card itself? Specifically, a reliable repair shop that can run diagnostics without charging an absolute fortune?
2. If the card turns out to be fine, I'm planning an upgrade. Essentially, I'm building a new PC around a few existing parts. Here is what I currently have: - The GPU mentioned above - Power supply (EVGA 650W, Bronze) - Storage (250GB SSD + 1TB HDD) - Monitor - I might grab an ASRock H81 Pro BTC R2.0 motherboard, but I'm not sure if it's any good.
Here is what I still need: - Motherboard (see above) - Processor - RAM - Case - Whatever else I'm forgetting
Besides gaming, I plan on running virtual machines, so I'll need plenty of RAM and a solid processor. My budget for these specific components is roughly $1667—lower is better, though I can stretch it slightly if it actually makes sense to spend more. Thanks!
I agree, which is why I suggested a new title for this thread. My previous 🙄 was a mistake—it was actually meant for the OP and those specific (read: unselected) movies.
I'm looking forward to the peak of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival during that second day slot from 6:45 PM to 7:45 PM. Everything leading up to it is just the warm-up, and anything after is an anticlimax.
There’s a massive injustice tied to that movie: it walked away with Oscars for Best Picture and Best Director, yet Russell Crowe was snubbed (as noted in the review at this link), even though critics were unanimous that his performance was the very reason the film worked. Instead, Denzel Washington took home the trophy. Purely political correctness.
Sargeras said:To be honest, I think they’re both equally great, but strictly speaking, 🙂 I just rewatched the first two recently and still get chills. Even though the movies are pretty straightforward, they have this unique vibe—especially thanks to the soundtracks, which are absolute masterpieces! Since I'm a huge fan of film scores, P1 and P2 OSTs are definitely in my all-time top 20. If I had to pick a winner, I'd go with Predator (1987) over Predator 2 (1990).
As for the full franchise ranking, here is how I see it: 1) Predator (1987) 2) Predator 2 (1990) 3) AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004) 4) AV2: Requiem (2007) 5) Predators (2010)
The first one is in a league of its own. The sequel is an excellent movie. Predators is just terrible. AvP doesn't belong in this discussion, much like how it doesn't fit in a thread about Alien films.
