Honestly, this poll just doesn't make sense. Running separate polls for the LOTR Trilogy and The Hobbit might work, but if even one vote goes to the Hobbits in this setup... I've said too much.
A disease!!! Seriously, if you have kids and a wife depending on you, heroin is going to win in the end if you don't get help... Especially when money isn't an issue and you don't have to worry about basic survival...
Addicts aren't idiots. They know they have children. They know what they're doing is destructive. They know they could die... and leave those kids totally alone... I have a neighbor with a four-year-old son. He drinks like a fish, and he's probably going to lose custody in court. That’s why we call it an addiction disease. It's a DISEASE.
I disagree here. Addiction isn't a disease—it's not something you're born with, it's not hereditary, and it's not contagious. You are responsible for your own addiction, unless someone literally forced the first hit of heroin into your veins.
briskhound2 said:What about an addict? They hurt their families, their friends, everyone they know... Sure, superstars have enough cash that they aren't out there stealing things just to survive, but doesn't that still cause massive damage to the people close to them? I honestly think Hoffman's family and kids would say they suffered through it too—and in the end, they’re probably the ones left holding the bag.
That’s why I used the word "directly." An alcoholic, a smoker, or a gambler—basically any kind of addict—causes harm to others. But you can't honestly tell me that's analogous to pedophilia. At that point, we might as well throw a psychopathic killer into the conversation. No, this is way too far off-topic—Philip Seymour Hoffman was a brilliant actor, and I am truly sorry he passed away. Regardless of the drugs.
briskhound2 said:Not even slightly. I just forgot to mention that, theoretically, our guy hangs himself in a cell.
What we know—what I, you, or anyone else knows—is that he fought addiction for over 20 years, that he was a top-tier actor, and that he was always charming and upbeat in interviews. That’s the reality. And then people start talking trash about a deceased person just like Padalecki is doing. I'm not disputing that he left this world in a stupid way, but I look at him as an actor who actually managed to make something meaningful for the film industry over those last two decades.
Padalecki isn't trashing the actor at all. He just said it was stupid to throw life away for drugs. What’s so dramatic about that statement? Is he making stuff up? Well, like I said, pedophilia is also a disease. Let's say our theoretical subject struggled with that for twenty years too. Do we stay quiet about it, or do we bring it up?
In my opinion, the pedophile analogy is completely off base. That's just how I see it. If it works for you, fine.
Oh, wait—I still haven't gotten an answer to that. I guess the standards would be different then.
Man, Padalecki knows exactly what he's doing because he knows he has those fans out there who adore him, writing to him and all that. And every once in a while, someone comes along to moralize or spit on someone else. He knows how to play that game perfectly.
As someone already pointed out through pure deduction, it seems like Sam Winchester himself bothers you more than what was actually said.
This keeps coming up... Yeah, I've been there. A friend of mine took his own life and left behind a wife and two kids. I said it was a stupid, cowardly move, regardless of whatever problems he was facing. And nobody branded me a heretic for saying it. In fact, his own family agreed. It wasn't that we were ignoring his pain or his struggles, but the final takeaway was that it was a cowardly way to escape his problems. Normal people deal with that reality every single day. It's just when actors are involved that everyone suddenly takes this high-and-mighty moral ground.
Look, the analogy fails here because a predator causes direct harm to others. It’s perfectly justified to be outraged by him. Jared Padalecki isn't wrong. Throwing your life away over drugs is just heartless and plain stupid.
However, this comment:
Eric Patel7 said:I really respected him as an actor. There's no denying he had massive talent—but honestly? I'm not going to sit here and say I'm mourning his passing. He might have been a great actor, but given how he went out, I think most people are just going to remember him as a jerk.
The movie follows the same blueprint as Hidden ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093185/ ), which is the film our translators titled "dangerous citizen intent." 🙂

If the first film was made "for all generations," 😁, the sequel clearly targets some half-witted American kids between the ages of 6 and 12... 👎 What really set the first one apart for me was the humor... in the second one, there isn't a trace of it left... Furthermore, the "new" robots are absolute garbage designed for children... especially that one that looks like an ice cream truck or something. 👎
It's been a long time since I watched the sequel (I don't think I could ever bring myself to watch it again), so much of it has faded from my memory, but I still remember the impression it left on me, which was 👎 🙂 😢
I'm reading this and wondering what they're talking about. 🤣Terminator 2: Judgment Day is a masterpiece!
