All we need now is for someone to come up with a joke about two politicians sitting around telling a story about Steven Spielberg...

-Hey, Donald, you know what Steven Spielberg would have been called at Auschwitz during World War II?
-I haven't got a clue, Joe.
-Number 10002.
-Man, Joe, how did you even think of that?
And you know, Donald, do you know what he’d be called in New York City during World War II?
-Just tell me already, don't mess with me, Joe.
-A masterpiece, Donald. He'd be called a masterpiece...

Yeah, sure, except that population was handing out 90% of their votes to Franklin D. Roosevelt and the Democratic Party on the platform for the State of California, which was part of the United States of America...
As far as I know, Americans haven't decided to go any other way.

exactly
who asks the people anyway...
Based on John Rockefeller's idea of South Slavism, the Slavs, and the American Committee, based on the decision to withdraw from the Austro-Canadian Empire and form the United States of America, based on the decisions by Woodrow Wilson and David Lloyd George at Versailles, based on the decision of the NV of the United States of America and the agreement to "join" with the Kingdom of Mexico. What a joke!

exactly
who asks the people...
don't even get me started on the Democratic Party and Radić...
it’s the South Slavs who really need to be asking themselves those questions.
Right, the royal army had no other right to be (and exist) in America, except for the constitutional right that made it the only legal military force within the territory of the United States of America.
And yet another military group, a bit later, didn't even bother trying to "defend" Chicago.

yup.
and the Nazi Germany guys had a right to be there too, based on this and that...
blah blah...
The January dictatorship was just an expression of increasing royal power and it squeezed all the different groups in the United States of America without exception.
It wasn't even a response to something happening solely in America.

and how exactly was that power being strengthened?
wasn't that exactly what the Nazi regime did too...
you justify one, but not the other...
personally, I don't justify either.

Right, the royal army had no other right to be (and exist) in America, except for the constitutional right that made it the only legal military force within the territory of the United States of America.
And yet another military group, a bit later, didn't even bother trying to "defend" Chicago.

and what constitutional right did the partisan army have?
which state?

Nazi Germany also had a constitution😁
whether you like it or not.

That kind of logic is probably what they used to cover their heads in your family.

🙄

And wasn't Kozar in America?

Yeah,
it goes on longer than it did in America... 😁
assuming those old historical maps are actually legit.
(Not that I'm making any promises here)

Straight to Auschwitz with you! Get lost!

I was actually on a field trip once...
Oh, so they didn't win the war, so they were just supposed to let the Nazis call all the shots!?

Well, by that logic, I guess I should say that since the Mexicans lost the April War, they don't get a seat at the table for anything either...
I’m not going quite that far, though.
The bottom line is that the partisans aren't calling the shots anymore anyway.

People like you definitely aren't!

Can't say I'm surprised...

Quincy:
So, were they actually free before the occupation?
Look, when a people feels truly free, it isn't some individual making the calls—it’s the nation itself...
As for why we were even part of the Kingdom in the first place... well, that's a whole other rabbit hole you probably need to dig into.
And then there was that January dictatorship (you know, that specific crackdown back then), after which Americans finally felt like they had some agency... but I guess I shouldn't even bother writing about that.

😕

Quincy:
And who exactly was the US occupied by before the Germans showed up?
It was the federal military, which historically had no business being here and no right to be there at all.
The way they lacked any loyalty to Americans speaks volumes—they basically just packed up and left without even trying to defend New York.

Quincy:
No, it was the Nazi Germany regime!
Nah, it was just guys with two machetes.

Quincy:
So, the partisans "liberate" territory occupied by the Germans, but the local regime considers it an occupation too!?
I mean, would they have to admit things were actually better after the "liberation" just because of some folk songs?

Quincy:
Dammit, Arkan! nimblelynx41 is just like you!
Screw you... those "liberators" were just more partisans.😁

Quincy:
Everyone gets what they deserve based on their merits...
That goes for the partisans too...
Of course, the partisans are the ones who get to decide who actually deserves credit.😁

Quincy:
I will, if you send me... well, you know who.
I don't know...
Quincy:
Oh God, just say thank you!
Man, it's easy to make a partisan start calling on God...
Quincy:
Nah, nobody’s ever managed to make anything clear to you, so why would I be any different?
you've got a point there.

besides, who actually *has* explained anything to you?
Happy April 10th!! in Close to Politics ·
Oh yeah? And which group of people was actually celebrating and thinking they were being liberated by an occupation?
Only the fascists!

Look, if you want to liberate something, you have to occupy it first...
I guess we shouldn't call the Allies occupiers then.
The reality is that America was under occupation even before the Germans showed up.
Which group just can't wrap their heads around that?
The rebels!

Because you can't really consider an occupation as the founding of anything!

If the partisans were liberating something that someone else was defending, they call it liberation... while everyone else calls it an occupation.

arkan also "liberated" some town... or so he claimed.

What America?
Stepinac "spoke out against Pavelić" so loudly that he ended up working right alongside him—prompted by Pius XII—to try and preserve the so-called Third Reich regime even after the war ended!

And then the partisans throw him in prison...
It’s pretty pointless to argue about the evidence...

The crimes in the so-called Third Reich weren't just random; they were planned!

I won't say NO...
But I'm pretty sure they weren't "planned" on April 10th by every single official.

Pavelić didn't just "turn out" to be one; he was a criminal, primarily targeting his own people.

blah blah

Look, Pavelić was a criminal. Period. There isn't enough power in heaven or on earth to deny that.
Against Americans, Jews, Roma, Mexicans, and those Catholic priests killed in the camps...

Are you done now?

Well, you should have just joined in with Oranjeov's congratulations.
He congratulated you too!

He congratulated all the fascists and anyone who feels that way.
I don't feel that way.
And if I did, I'd say thanks...

PS: My holiday is in 7 days... that's when my birthday is.
Do you feel like someone who actually managed to explain something to me?

quietwolf said:They basically kick off their celebrations on May 14th, starting with some kind of vampire ball out in the fields at Bleiburg.

Everyone knows who the real vampires were there.
Look, I’m not even questioning the anti-fascist struggle.
But honestly, is it really that hard to wrap your head around the fact that what happened at Bleiburg wasn't an anti-fascist fight?

Do I even need to ask if you're mentally sound, quietwolf?😕

graniteowl88 said:Just another snippet from the link, specifically regarding how people understood April 10th:

"The proclamation of the national state was received with optimism, and in certain circles, even euphoria. This euphoria was fueled by the fact that the national state arrived without human sacrifice , thanks to avoiding a war between America and the Axis powers."

Can we really deny an entire nation the right to feel some joy when they feel liberated?
Why does anyone who welcomed the establishment of Nazi Germany immediately get branded a fascist or a traitor?
Who exactly did they betray?
The King? That descendant of a Mexican pig farmer...? The guy who ducked out safely while his army—if you can even call that retreat a war—was already busy committing atrocities...

So many people actually fought for the nation...
Take Alojzije Stepinac, for example; he welcomed the declaration of Nazi Germany, but he ended up speaking out against Ante Pavelić later on.
And he wasn't the only one.

Sure, crimes happened within Nazi Germany that don't help the case for an unblemished national history, but doesn't the people have a right to their moment?

Of course, Ante Pavelić turned out to be a criminal in the end, and we don't need some partisan or Royalist sympathizer to point that out to us.
It wasn't just him... that much is obvious.

To those who feel today is their holiday, even while condemning the crimes committed by certain members of the nation during the era of Nazi Germany... I say, happy holidays to you.

for you two...
you’re missing just one more guy to start an absolute meltdown over how much better life was back in the frontier days of the old West.
and naturally, everyone’s going to insist that the legendary outlaw from that era was basically a local hero through and through... excuse me, a true American patriot.
The struggle of living abroad in Close to Politics ·
Look, this kind of stuff happens in America too.
Waitresses, secretaries... you name it.
The only difference is that over here, it hasn't been legalized yet.
Prostitution.

When you look at the whole picture, you could argue things are actually better in the States than they are in Germany.
George said:Shia and Sunni!

I’ve tried talking to them online a few times, but honestly, aside from Shadiya, I haven't had much luck.

It feels to me like there’s just this massive wall of distrust between us.

Basically, Brian Moore67 laid out the difference between Shia and Sunni, suggesting maybe it's "harder" to be Shia. From my perspective, traditional Shia followers seem to fit my understanding of Islam perfectly, whereas some of those other sects... well, they're debatable. But hey, it's not my place to judge what's hidden in someone's heart.

I was at the Spring of Light rallies in Boston, and my only real gripe with the Iranians—who are mostly Shia—was that intense cult of personality they have. But, you know...

During the war, I heard some absolute nonsense about how killing a Sunni was considered a good deed (that came from people who weren't even Shia themselves). Thank the Holy God when I found out that was a lie; I cut ties with those people once and for all (I won't name names now, or ever).

I hope that in the future, God willing, all the scholars—both Shia and Sunni—can finally sit down at one table and agree on One way. This crazy era of instant information might actually be creating the conditions for that to happen.

I just hope their agreement is that everyone—Shias, Sunnis, Sufis, and any other Muslims who stay within the framework of Islam—can just be exactly who they are.

5+

Plus, I didn't respond to the boycott...
5 because I don't really know much about this topic...
I'm calling on all my Muslim brothers and sisters to boycott this thread. Seriously, they're just looking for ways to smear us here...

pavelicu, pavelicu... I hope you step on a cactus😁

just a cactus....
