What are you reading on the toilet? in Miscellaneous ·
I used to spend my time scrolling through endless piles of Dylan Dog comics and Alan Ford graphic novels just to pass the time in the restroom, but I’ve certainly modernized my habits since then; nowadays, I either lug my laptop around—which I carry to Raymond Campbell35, though having reliable Wi-Fi means I can just deal with the inevitable glitch 😁—or I find myself endlessly scrolling through my iPhone.

Andrew Sanchez572 said:Alright, but why would "triggering" arousal be considered something negative? I don't want to just repeat everything you already wrote earlier...

Secondly, this thread isn't actually about finding ways to provoke sexual urges; it’s about how to control and channel that sexual energy once it’s already present or lying dormant.
Could you please try to stay on topic?
Besides, you claimed that magic acts as a tool of violence against love. 😳
And then you went as far as to say that magic essentially shuts out spirituality.

I can somewhat understand why you wouldn't want to trigger lust, but it is quite unrealistic to assume that arousal must be exclusively self-induced.
There is always an underlying desire to feel that way.
Can you eat when you aren't hungry?
By that logic, would you consider celibacy to be a form of violence as well?

I apologize for my rather rushed response to your first post; I am currently juggling two very heated debates in parallel, so my concentration isn't exactly at its peak right now.

Emily Bailey2, what have your own experiences been with deprivation? 😍

It’s quite fascinating 😁 how even after just a few minutes, once you're deprived of sight and sound and stripped of the ability to move, your sense of time and space begins to dissolve entirely, while your tactile sensations skyrocket to an absolute peak... it becomes a total mental riot 😍

Andrew Sanchez572 said:I find the whole concept of deprivation to be quite a compelling area of study... I haven't personally combined it with sex yet, though I certainly hope to explore that eventually.🙂
Sensory deprivation is actually a pretty standard element within BDSM, frequently involving various types of masks to achieve the effect.

Please, do not be shy; I would appreciate it if you could elaborate a bit further.☕

You should definitely give it a shot. 😉
Utilizing these techniques for ritualistic purposes seems incredibly compelling, especially considering how much the psyche shifts when one is stripped of their primary senses.

Sensory deprivation used in that kind of context? That sounds incredibly intriguing. Have you actually experimented with it? 🙂 But seriously, when I stop to think about it, it seems like the perfect setup for that.
Thanks for breaking it down for me; I don't have any real experience in this area, so I honestly had no idea what that would even look like in practice.

I believe that book is translated as "Tantra - Spirituality and Sex."
Still haven't managed to swing by an Arke store to pick it up. 😢

Could you perhaps give me a rough outline of what a ritual involving sexual acts actually looks like? I'm curious about how all those different elements are woven together and such.
Not wanting kids: Is it just me? in Psychology ·
You aren’t alone in this; anyone suggesting otherwise is simply out of touch with reality. Honestly, just focus on the things that actually bring you fulfillment, because life is far too short to waste even a second worrying about the opinions of some small-minded local busybody. If motherhood eventually becomes a part of your journey, wonderful—if it doesn't, that's equally fine. At the end of the day, we are facing a massive global overpopulation crisis and dwindling resources, so choosing not to participate in that cycle is actually quite a noble stance to take. 😁
The decision to have children should never be framed as some kind of societal obligation. It is frankly tragic when parents bring children into this world solely to boost national birth rates or to shut up some judgmental old ladies at the grocery store...
And frankly, if anyone has the audacity to tell you that your choice makes you "abnormal," they aren't worth the breath it takes to listen to them.

To be perfectly honest, I wouldn't go out of my way to make excuses for a child’s unexcused absences either. If they just sat around being lazy, then fine—let them deal with the consequences and pull themselves out of that rut. I used to mark my own kids' attendance, sure, but the idea of begging some school administrator to cover for them never even crossed my mind. Letting them face the music actually does wonders for fostering a sense of personal responsibility and creativity 😁

The next time he starts rambling about dropping out of school and quitting his job, I suggest you sit him down for a serious, unfiltered conversation. Lay it all out on the table: walk him through exactly what kind of career prospects—if any—he actually has without a high school diploma, and show him the pathetic wage he’d be looking at. Then, hit him with the cold, hard reality of the cost of living. Break down the monthly expenses for rent, utilities, groceries, and everything else required to survive in this country. Once he realizes how quickly those meager earnings will vanish into basic necessities, I suspect he’ll lose interest in that little fantasy pretty fast. 😁

And once puberty finally wraps up... man, I know plenty of people hitting their mid-thirties or even forty who still haven't actually outgrown that adolescent phase, and from the looks of it, they have no intention of ever maturing.
It’s an individual matter, of course. 😁

I suppose some people just have to get burned by life before they finally learn how things work.

Zenabr1 As specified by James Lee12:
The fundamental issue here is that there simply aren't many people like you; most individuals lack that genuine, intrinsic drive to actually master what they are studying. We spend all our time debating the ethics of hiding grades or masking academic performance, but by the time the truth finally comes to light, the damage is already done. It is far too late at that stage to attempt any meaningful course correction.😉

Which school is she attending now? And was that actually her own decision, or was it something forced upon her?
I spent my high school years acting out and being difficult, mostly because I had absolutely zero interest in attending a prep school—though my parents were relentless about forcing that path on me. It was the exact same story when I started college. The older generation decided what my major "should" be, practically brainwashed me into accepting their vision, and... well, I dropped out before the first semester was even over.

Is there truly no way to pique her interest? You need to find a method to frame this as something genuinely compelling rather than just another tedious, soul-crushing obligation that she’ll inevitably resent.
It is entirely plausible that they are keeping things under wraps simply out of fear regarding how people will react. That was certainly my own motivation, and if I recall correctly, it was the driving force for most of my peers as well.

I am certainly not boasting here; the entire point of my argument has been missed entirely.
It is an undeniable truth that everyone operates differently. For instance, being micromanaged or facing arbitrary restrictions does nothing for me but spike my blood pressure and systematically destroy whatever shred of motivation I have left. That said, I am fully aware that I am studying for my own sake, not to satisfy some group of elderly bureaucrats. Of course, I occasionally stumble, but when I do, I possess enough personal accountability to rectify the situation within a reasonable timeframe. I do this not because I am under some mandate or because someone is breathing down my neck, but because it is what I *choose* to do. Ultimately, everything hinges on internal motivation. While certain individuals might find discipline through strict prohibitions, such tactics only serve to irritate me, and once I am in a foul mood, my ability to study evaporates completely. Regardless, despite these "flaws" I am supposedly bragging about, I am bringing my studies to a close with excellent grades. Why? Because I want this. Because it interests me. Because I actually enjoy the process. I am driven by genuine interest, not by coercion or external pressure.

Heh, they grounded me after I failed my remedial exams 😁
Having learned my lesson the hard way, I decided to play it much smarter during the next term. I managed to pull off a flawless grade alteration on one specific credit, and the administration didn't have the slightest clue that single failing mark ever existed. It allowed me to enjoy my winter break in peace, then I simply caught up on all the coursework during the first week back and corrected the grade to a passing C. Since then, I refuse to breathe a word to them about upcoming midterms, finals, or any potential failures, because I know exactly what follows: a massive lecture and a complete loss of freedom, which honestly just kills my motivation to study anything at all. I prefer to keep my business to myself; if I mess up, I fix it quietly and move on. Dealing with those people directly was an absolute disaster, and frankly, my grades were significantly worse when I actually tried playing by their rules.

Gregory Wells6 said:Reading your post—where you basically tell me to go play outside!—I get the feeling you might have a kid who just hit puberty. Well, I have a daughter who’s been right in the middle of that storm for three or four years now, and if there is one thing I can tell you, it’s this: I would give anything to never live through it again. Honestly, I'm exhausted. During those few years, we went through absolutely everything—bad crowds, drugs, drinking, being reckless, constant defiance, hatred, failing classes, you name it. I truly, deeply wouldn't wish any of that on you. She’s 17 now, and she is head-over-heels in love with some total loser who already has four theft charges on his record; when he's around, she's completely deaf to the rest of the world. How am I coping? I take my Xanax and I pray to God that this phase passes, because at this point, there isn't much else left to do. Whatever you managed to teach her up until about age 12, you've done your part—now, just light a candle and pray to God that your child turns out a bit wiser than mine, and that they actually kept some of the values you spent a lifetime trying to instill. Believe me, I have tried every single thing under the sun, and after all that time—all that wasted energy, money, and sheer mental exhaustion—I’ve come to the conclusion that I am powerless.

God, that sounds incredibly difficult... but there is always a chance they will snap out of it once the hormonal storm finally subsides. Looking at how you described her, I see a reflection of my own younger self and the crowd I ran with, though most of us eventually just grew out of those adolescent idiocies. We explored what we wanted to explore, lived life to the fullest, and now we are just living out our quiet, settled lives. 😁
How much do mother insults actually bother you? in Miscellaneous ·
I don't take any of it to heart. In most cases, it’s nothing more than a mindless verbal tic, and the person uttering it certainly isn't actually thinking about anyone's mother. If someone specifically targets my own mother just to get a rise out of me, they are clearly an idiot—and I have absolutely no intention of wasting my energy on such people. I’d much rather just laugh them off. 😁

And once again, I’m letting them slip right past me... they drifted right in front of my heavy artillery, and the whole area was absolutely crawling with those damn pests. 😁
