How does society react to a suicide attempt? in Psychology ·
Good grief, you've certainly been through more than I ever have in my life.

I suppose nobody would ever think to write posts quite like this one.

🤣

Man, I’m seriously wondering how much this stuff is gonna wreck my liver, but honestly? It feels freaking incredible!! I'm so high right now I can't even put it into words 😁
I'm basically gonna be getting "hammered" on this crap every single day—strictly following the prescription, obviously!

Wait, why are you seeing a doctor for this???
And what is the point of taking 🤷
anyway?

Well, best of luck with the fine-tuning 🙂

I suppose you should just find some kind of job—any job, really—to help manage those loan repayments 🤷

Perhaps if you actually took the time to read the owner's manual, you might find yourself a bit closer to a solution

Alternatively, you could always just head over to a local mechanic

And honestly—how can you be so certain there is only ever one single way to fix this?

Well, you certainly can teach yourself if you have the desire to learn and—more importantly—if you're willing to put in the necessary work.

Even through a process of trial and error—though I suppose that's just a polite way of saying making too many mistakes.

Maybe you could try finding a different instructor—someone who might be willing to actually walk you through everything step-by-step

I suppose there are still people like that out there somewhere

I could step out of the car
or perhaps try to start it—which I suppose would disqualify me🤷

well, you could certainly end up inhaling a lethal dose of carbon monoxide 😉

Jonathan Barnes7 said:It’s not that he’s hiding me or anything. It’s just that going out isn't really his thing. He spent New Year's Eve at home... just hanging out with my brother-in-law.

If he heads out to grab a drink with one or two friends right in his own neighborhood, that's about it. He isn't the clubbing type or someone who hits up big bars. It’s always just a local spot or hanging at a friend's place. I’ve met a few of his buddies and he talks about them, but we haven't all hung out together yet...

I don't plan on dwelling on this forever. Honestly, I've been thinking about leaving for good because I can't take it anymore. There's no way out of this mess. Plus, there's this guy who has started making serious moves toward me. He made his intentions clear, and I'm actually considering giving him a shot. I'm terrified, though—I tend to feel things too deeply. Everything I've ever wanted, I found in him, regardless of the fact that our relationship isn't "public." I'm scared I'll never be able to open up to anyone else like this again. I want to wait a little longer, but I feel like I've waited too long already. I'm worried it'll lead nowhere. It doesn't feel like he's leading me on, even if it looks that way, but my patience is officially gone. I have no idea how to deal with all the baggage from his past.😢

And I suppose this hasn't exactly been an eye-opener for you.

When you actually care about someone, you want to be with them—even if you aren't exactly the party animal type who enjoys long nights out. You would rather wait for them to ring in the New Year than spend the night with your mother and your brother-in-law.🙄

He doesn't love you, or perhaps not enough.
He's looking for someone else.

mistyseal11 said:Yesterday, while I was feeling totally high, it finally clicked.

It felt like everyone was just constantly breathing down my neck, telling me stuff like, "Don't do that"

"Don't touch this," or "Don't go there"

"That's just not how you act in public"

and all that noise...

But honestly? Nobody actually sat me down and showed me what the right way to behave even looks like... I don't even know how to put it into words.
.... And because of that, I've just been stuck in this total funk—I'm feeling super low, I can't even look people in the eye, I'm just frozen up constantly, and I can't find any way to chill out. Even when I'm out by myself, I'm just physically tense. I can't relax for anything.

The bottom line is—I feel like I have no clue how to react to basically 99% of what happens in life.

So, I suppose you now have quite the impressive collection of excuses for suicide. 🙂
It’s all a bit of a balancing act—you win some, you lose some, I suppose. 😍

It seems to be going exactly as expected...
Nobody really gave me any guidance on what counts as acceptable—or even decent—behavior in this situation...

No one can truly tell you what is right or what constitutes a good decision—not really. In most situations, I suppose you just have to figure it out for yourself. 🤷

I am not quite sure how to put this into words.
The whole situation has left me in a bit of a funk—my mood is consistently low, I can't seem to look people in the eye, and I feel somewhat petrified most of the time. I just can't find any way to unwind. Even when I'm out in public, I feel completely tense—stiff, really. I simply cannot relax.

Praxiteni, Normabell, Helex. 😉
I suppose I should probably mention that I’ve been thinking about the whole situation regarding the recent developments—though it feels somewhat premature to draw any definitive conclusions just yet. It is all a bit unsettled, I guess. Perhaps we will see more clarity soon, but for now, one can only wait and observe.

As for what I was trying to get at—I suppose I just don't know how to react in 99% of situations.

It seems nobody knows.
I suppose there isn't really such a thing as a "right" or "wrong" reaction in most situations—it’s all rather subjective, I guess. There aren't any absolute rules when things go sideways. 🤷
One learns as long as they live—or perhaps, until the day they die. I suppose it’s an endless cycle. 😁
My partner's past in Psychology ·
mistyraven said:I'm spiraling over my partner's past.

Look, I get it—the present is what matters, and exes are exes for a reason. But still...

Yesterday, during a conversation, I found out something I really shouldn't have. I know, I know—it’s ancient history, and we’ve been together for three years now. But somehow, this jealousy just flared up out of nowhere. Picturing the person I love doing... certain things with someone else? Yeah, not exactly a great feeling.

We were just talking about our past relationships versus how things are now. Then they dropped something on me that totally floored me. I didn't even want the details, but there it was...

I basically just stood up, grabbed my stuff, and walked out. No words. I know it wasn't the right move, but I don't know why I'm struggling so much to accept that there was a whole life before me.

Now I'm a mess. I can't even bring myself to be physical with them—it's like their past makes me feel physically repulsed.

Is this just being possessive? Or am I looking at some kind of pathological jealousy?

well, what could she have possibly done
she wasn't doing anything that people don't normally do 🤷

I just stood up, grabbed my things, and left. Without saying a word. I realize I didn't handle that correctly, but I suppose I just can't seem to accept the fact that there was a life before me.

it's because you're simply being immature🤷
I mean, was the woman supposed to wait around for some prince on a white horse? 🙄
you have a past too, or are you just applying double standards to her?

And now I'm in a mess; I can't even bring myself to be physically intimate with the person I love—it's as if I feel repulsed because of her past.

if you truly loved her that much, you wouldn't feel repulsed😕
someone who loves "accepts" things (though, I suppose it's silly to call it forgiveness—I mean, in the context of a relationship, there isn't really anything to forgive unless she actually cheated while she was with you)
My partner's past in Psychology ·
Hannah White2 said:Honestly, that’s just how you’re wired—a guy who actually gives a damn about his own headspace and uses his brain is always going to struggle when a partner has a messy history.
Subconsciously, you're doing the math, right? You realize that if things go south down the road, you can't exactly bank on that person being loyal.
Don't just bury those feelings, though—even if it means calling it quits—because you don't want to be sitting there kicking yourself later...

🤦

Well, I'd argue this applies just as much to women, 😬
and honestly—why wouldn't someone struggle with fidelity if they've finally found everything they were looking for in a single person?
Besides, if her past truly mattered that much, I guess it wouldn't really be considered the past anymore.
Well, if a woman wants to be swept off her feet from the very start because of who she actually is—rather than just to satisfy some small-town expectation🙂

🤷
People who always use their looks as an excuse in Psychology ·
Well, what else is an American woman supposed to possess? 🤷
It seems attractive people are expected to be industrious—they need some sort of middle-class career, I suppose, or just... something to do
And honestly, most people these days don't even think about marriage until after thirty, regardless of their education level. Zendaya is only 28, after all 🙂

As for her beauty—it's hard to miss, even if she isn't actively trying to flaunt it
Though, intelligence is a bit harder to conceal. How does one even attempt to hide being smart? 🤷

Well, I suppose one could argue that a backside is essentially just two halves joined together🤷

for what kind of things—say, 🤷
—if she is even remotely intelligent or capable, that would be beneath her dignity 🙂

Nathan Kelly5 said:What kind of people—just good enough to be eye candy? Not really. It seems her environment has taught her that she doesn't need to try; just smiling is enough to get by. She doesn't have to be unintelligent or backward, but she clearly struggles to make an impact. It can't be easy for her either, knowing that 99% of the people around her likely just want to use her, whether as a trophy or something else entirely.

Oh, please, 🙄
if she is beautiful, she doesn't necessarily have to be dim-witted or naive. And honestly, nobody can take advantage of you unless you let them. 😁
Sure, maybe just smiling is enough. 😂 I mean, what kind of normal parent would tell their child, "You're pretty, so just sit there and smile"? 🙂
There is just so much prejudice against attractive people.
I think I've encountered more brilliant beauties than dumb ones, actually. 🙂
