Rebecca Vaughn7... Don't let it get to you. Honestly, men can be absolute idiots sometimes. My partner is the exact same way—he never takes my word for anything. In his mind, everyone else always knows better than I do.
I am honestly so fed up with the people working for Verizon and T-Mobile. They constantly harass me every time I step out of a Target or a local grocery store... or whatever shop I happen to be at.
Look, I get it—they’re just trying to make a buck. But if I’ve already made it clear I’m not interested, just leave me alone.
I have to say, I was genuinely irritated today when I spotted a pregnant woman who was clearly on high-risk monitoring—just standing right there in front of the hospital in her pajamas, clutching a drink in her hand.
Olivia Miller2 said:Ugh, I seriously don't know why I even bother visiting my boyfriend's family.... I went over to his grandma's yesterday and everything was fine until she drops this: "I'd ask you something right now, but I know I shouldn't." So I told her, "Go ahead, what could you possibly not be allowed to ask?"
After ten minutes of awkward tension, she finally blurted it out: "So, are we going to baptize the little one?" (And just like that, my inner rebel woke up) I told her, "Actually, I don't think so. We'll wait until he's old enough to decide for himself. I don't feel right forcing any religion on an unconscious baby..." She actually started tearing up... saying things like, "How can you say that? If we don't baptize him, the child won't be happy..." eeeee, when I heard that, I totally lost it... John Baker5: Why wouldn't my kid be happy? He'll have the love of his mom and dad, and honestly, that's all that matters for his happiness... Olivia Miller2: No, no, no—you guys need to baptize him, at least so you don't have to repeat the sacraments later (😕) John Baker5: But we aren't Christian. Olivia Miller2: Well, M is Christian! John Baker5: Nope! On the census, he identified as an ATHEIST! Olivia Miller2: HE ISN'T! M, tell her! You are, right??!!? You were baptized... John Baker5: So what? That doesn't make him Catholic. Olivia Miller2: Yes, he is! Look, M (my man) had the baby baptized and got married in a church! John Baker5: And what, are you trying to say they're happier than us because they had a church wedding, or that the baby is only happy because he's been baptized?? Olivia Miller2: YES. John Baker5: What else am I supposed to say to that?!?
Ugh, if I didn't absolutely flatten her with my response, I don't know when I will... That old lady, implying my child won't be happy.... After it all blew over, M told me I handled it great and that I was lucky I didn't kill her, considering how much I usually want to... I mean, what kind of twisted mind thinks it's okay to tell someone their child won't be happy? Such a bitter old soul...😠😠
And of course, it all started because she claimed Isaac is a Christian name, and I had to tell her it's actually Jewish! She needs to just back off and leave me alone already...
Don't let it get to you... People are unbelievable... I completely get where you're coming from. I had some busybody old ladies hounding me about why I hadn't baptized my little one yet—she was only a month old at the time. We ended up doing it when she was two months old...😂 But what can you do? You can't argue with people who are determined to mess with your head just because you won't follow their rules.
The older generation... to them, it's a tragedy because they probably think everyone who doesn't comply is headed straight to hell. 😂 Just ignore them...
In this country, most of them live by the motto God, flag, and Ante Pavelić. 😂 John Baker5
Don't sweat it... those old women have probably earned themselves a cataract or two from staring so hard at us.
Kate Allen said:So, I’m heading to this baptism today for a kid I barely even know, and—surprise, surprise—I haven't even picked out a gift yet. Honestly, I was pretty blindsided by the invite in the first place; I actually tried to back out, but then his mom started tearing up because I wanted to cancel. Now I'm stuck. Even though I'm not the godmother or anything, there's still that unspoken rule that you have to show up with something. ☕ My plan is to hit up Microsoft and grab some cologne and maybe a book if I can find one that doesn't suck. The perfume should cost me about $83. I’m just reaching my limit here—I’ve got six weddings lined up in June for people I actually care about, and I really can't afford to drop $250 on every single one of them. Not that I mind paying for those, since they're my maid of honor and my first cousin, but still. Does this sound okay for a baptism? Since I don't really know the kid, I'm banking on the fact that it'll be his first nice cologne and he'll actually like it.
He might already own some cologne, 🙂 but yeah, it's a fine gift. 🙂 If you use one of those 25% off coupons, you can snag something decent without breaking the bank. 🙂
Maybe just get him a gift card instead? That's what we usually do in most cases...
I’m an idiot. I’m working until the very end and then heading back to the office early... When I work full-time, my tax contributions to the IRS are way higher than whatever payout I’ll actually see during those six months off.
I am honestly fed up with this government. Why is there always money flowing for people like that, while those of us actually funding the treasury only get stuck with a measly six-month maternity leave?
My husband did all the laundry and vacuumed everything yesterday, and now the clothes are just sitting outside...
He saw I was right on the edge of a total mental breakdown... after the absolute garbage fire of an afternoon I had...
But everything just hurts...
I have such a massive to-do list... my little one is acting up with her toddler TV show and won't let me sleep, but I can't even move... I have to stay right next to her...
The baby is kicking me like crazy in my gut... Every single woman I pass on the street asks me, "Oooooh, how many days left until the big day?" As if! My due date isn't for another three weeks. Honestly, part of me doesn't even feel ready to give birth yet... I have no clue if I'm actually dilated or not... I'm heading to my appointment at the Mayo Clinic on Monday.
I’ve been on edge all day... mostly because I failed to get my driver's license appointment... I am just so incredibly wound up...
Then, I stumble upon this news about a 30-year-old woman who passed away from breast cancer... and I start reading through her blog... I’ve been sitting here moping for a while now...
Now I’m actually angry at myself—angry that I’m letting these trivial frustrations get to me, and even angrier that someone else's tragedy is serving as my emotional release valve. The tears are flowing... and in a way, they're draining off the rage I've been carrying since this afternoon... I'm frustrated because I'm being terrible... I really am a mess right now...
I'm copying my post from the OB-GYN recommendations thread
She didn't just annoy me; she pushed me to the point where I honestly wanted to kick her out the door... So, here’s the deal with Dr. Bokic I don't actually know her, but she absolutely set my nerves on fire today...
My regular OB-GYN is Dr. Cholak over in San Francisco, and he's currently on vacation from April 26th through May 9th. He's being covered by Dr. Bokic at the Westside clinic
Since they found a high white blood cell count in my urine yesterday, the recommendation is to get a urine culture and run some blood work—iron levels, etc. She was in yesterday morning, which means the earliest I could see her was this afternoon.
Cholak told me to just contact her directly to get my referrals issued... Anyway, I showed up today thinking I had everything figured out. I'm partly to blame because I mistakenly thought he wasn't back until May 2nd, so I drove all the way from San Francisco to Westside, only to see "Dr. Bokic on vacation" posted right on the door.
It turns out some doctor named Sviben is covering for him at the Barnaby Filipovic Medical Center.
By law, she isn't supposed to be taking leave if she's already acting as a substitute for someone else... Current mood: livid. The American healthcare system... I'll be sending a very pointed email to the Department of Health and Human Services about this. Naturally, I went down to the Barnaby Filipovic center (even though I knew Sviben couldn't help me—I just wanted to fuel my own rage). The nurse there just stared at me blankly and said, "She isn't supposed to be covering for Dr. Cholak, so who exactly is covering for her?"
Basically, she probably decided to take an extra Friday off because she wanted a longer weekend trip. And meanwhile, patients like me who rely on Dr. Cholak are just left hanging.
Just for context, I live out near suburban Philadelphia, but unfortunately, I never bothered switching gynecologists when I moved. Clearly, I should have, because I spent the entire day driving aimlessly around the city for nothing.
It’s driving me absolutely insane—this whole fake royal wedding circus... it’s just exhausting enough to make my skin crawl. It feels like every time I turn around, those two, Nemeš and Marijana, are popping up out of nowhere like they own the place. Look, I don't even follow celebrity gossip religiously, but honestly, it’s impossible to ignore because there isn't a single day that goes by where we aren't hearing something about them. And that Marijana? Her constant, mindless rambling is just pathetic.
Staying home is a total disaster.....🙂 The house is pure chaos. Toys are scattered everywhere, and I honestly look like a wreck right now. It’s exhausting. On top of that, the dog is driving me absolutely insane with how much he constantly runs around.> We have a house with a yard, yet I feel like I have to be outside with him at least four times a day for half an hour just to get some peace. It feels more like living in a cramped apartment than having actual space.> It's miserable.> My to-do list is endless, and I don't even know where to start. Just a complete mess.div>>
Paul Diaz602 said:Same here. Just lying in bed, trying to get a little bit done, though I honestly don't even know how much I'm allowed to do since I'm on bed rest. It sucks. During my first pregnancy, I was unstoppable until the very end. Now, I feel like a tank. For the last month, I've been waddling around like I'm already in labor.
It’s just awful... I feel like a total wreck. 🙂
There is so much to do around the house... at this rate, I'll be seeing Easter in a complete disaster zone. Being stuck at home constantly means I notice everything. Everything looks dirty. I need new curtains. I hate this rug. I want to gut the entire living room and start over. I’ve already tossed a massive pile of stuff out.
And then there's the mirror. Whoever claimed that pregnancy makes you glow—😵👎🙂
I’ve officially run out of things to wear... it’s getting ridiculous. I feel like I’m moving around like a tank. Honestly, the idea of buying maternity clothes sounds exhausting, and my due date is only a month away. What am I even supposed to do in this heat? I’ll need larger sizes soon, but I’m definitely over just wearing sweats and loungewear all day. Just dragging myself around the house. It's awful. During my last pregnancy, I was working right up until the 20th week before my water broke—I felt like I was on high gear. Now? I feel like a total slug.
Michelle Nelson4 said:It’s highly likely she’s just jealous of my property... Small minds and their petty little pleasures... I've decided I'm not going to let them get under my skin—at least not in front of them. I'll just give them plenty of "food" to feed their spite.
I never hand out gift baskets or chocolates. That's their job. If they tell me they're doing me a favor, I'll give them a polite "thank you" and a smile. That’s it. Honestly, it doesn't even cross my mind to bring gifts for people who are simply doing their jobs. They get a paycheck for a reason, period.
Honestly, it sounds exactly like what you'd expect from someone with such a small mindset. But seriously, she sees all kinds of income flowing through here every single day... I guess she's just used to seeing the divide between people on minimum wage and those pulling in the big bucks. Who knows? Maybe I showed up looking like a total bum in my sweats, so she couldn't wrap her head around the fact that this is actually my salary. Who knows... I am absolutely livid. Because I can already see the harassment coming. She's going to be watching my every move. It’s fascinating how when you work hard and play by the rules, suddenly everyone treats you like a suspect. They're quick to grab your money, but when you actually need help—like needing things covered during maternity leave—suddenly they're nowhere to be found.
Michelle Nelson4 said:I know it doesn’t really fix the problem, but whenever I deal with those kinds of clueless people behind the service counter, I always insist that my signature be in blue ink or maybe even a different color entirely instead of just standard black. It’s become my little defense mechanism because I actually had to deal with this once myself—some lady at the DMV gave me this whole dramatic performance, acting all conspiratorial like, "Oh, I shouldn't even be telling you this, but..."
It was such a headache! Honestly, it makes you wonder if they've ever even heard of high-end color laser printing. You can get a color copy these days that looks absolutely indistinguishable from the original document...
We don't have any other stamps available... I called them up... they only have black. What am I supposed to do? Force the company to order custom ink just for my sake? I was honestly fuming... Seriously though... It's infuriating. I am one hundred percent certain this attitude is tied back to their paychecks... acting like I somehow forged an official document or something. I felt pathetic yesterday... Just standing there feeling like I was the one who had done something wrong.
Look, I'm not here to accept "favors." I'm not going to let her act like she's doing me a massive favor so that I feel obligated to buy her coffee or a box of chocolates. She is doing her job—a job paid for by my tax dollars... And if it weren't for fools like us who work for a full salary while staying under the radar on minimum wage paperwork and stashing thousands on the side, nobody would have a paycheck to begin with...

That same damn cleaning lady has gotten on my nerves twice now. She’s been riding me from day one, making these obnoxious comments about how much weight I've put on. Unbelievable.😠 Since they finally lifted my medical leave, I’ve been walking a ton. It’s actually helped my muscle tone quite a bit. I haven't gained a single pound these last few weeks—honestly, I think the extra steps might have even burned off some of the weight. Anyway, then a few days ago, she catches me changing in the locker room. She takes one look at my chest—which, let’s be real, has definitely grown, though damn it, it wasn't from fat—and she just goes, "Oooo, looks like there's plenty of material to work with!" Ran into her in the hallway yesterday. There was plenty of room for both of us to pass without an issue, yet she pulls this ridiculous maneuver like she’s trying to give me a massive wide berth. I mean, come on—I haven't exactly ballooned overnight. Then she has the nerve to smirk and say, "Oh, look at you! You're going to be giving me competition soon!" As if. She put on twenty pounds after her last pregnancy and hasn't seen a scale since. We're both short, too, which just makes the whole display even more absurd. Unbelievable. I honestly just want to know which crystal ball they’re using to predict the future. 😠
I'm inclined to agree... and man, am I just lucky or what?
Take my situation. I have a company car. Technically, you’re supposed to hand it back when maternity leave starts. That's the rule. But let's be real—sometimes they let you hold onto it if there isn't an immediate need. One colleague of mine had her baby and turned the car in right away. Another lady dealt with some complications and kept the car for months before returning it. Then there's me. I've been on maternity leave for exactly five days, and suddenly some genius decides to blast company-wide emails claiming I'm out on leave and therefore need to return the vehicle immediately. Nobody even asked for it. Look, I have another car. It's not like I'm stranded. I'm just sharing my stroke of luck here.🙂 hahaha

Probably the one that says, "I'm just jealous because I let myself go after pregnancy and birth, so now I want everyone else to look just as messy as I do."
Some woman at the Social Security Administration really rubbed me the wrong way today. I finally got my disability approval—feeling pretty proud of myself, honestly—so I headed down there with all my paperwork ready to go. First off, she looks at me like I’m some kind of idiot, questioning why I was filing for standard maternity leave instead of something involving complications. Like, excuse me?😲 Then, she starts lecturing me because she thinks I brought in a photocopy. She’s insisting the document isn't an original because it’s been faxed.🤷 I mean, seriously? Maybe learn what an original document actually looks like before you start judging people.
According to her, it's just a copy because the director signed it with black ink instead of blue, and apparently, the stamp is black too.🤷 Everything is perfectly legible. It’s right there on the page.
It’s honestly fascinating. We’ve had four employees from the same company file for maternity leave in the last two months, and they didn't have a single issue. But for some reason, she decided I was the one to pick on.
So, yeah, I had to go back and demand the director sign everything in blue ink just to satisfy her. Now I get to deal with this headache again at the SSA next week.
Ronald Williams9 What an absolute disaster.... Look, my mother-in-law is great, and my brother-in-law doesn't even have a family of his own... they're actually decent people...
But the real question is how on earth would it work if we were living under the same roof or right next door to one another?........
This is living proof that sharing a household just isn't natural or even advisable. A young couple needs their peace and quiet.......(though obviously, if you don't have a choice, you're stuck) But this situation is just nightmare fuel. The issue here is that things will always be that way. You won't even be able to buy your kid a candy bar without having to dodge the judgment of your brother-in-law's crew...... Personally, I would lose my mind......
