hiddenscout362 said:I’ve been reading some of the comments from certain colleagues lately—stuff like, "When we start hiring more women, we should make sure to ask if they have a boyfriend" 😠 or even worse, "It would be better to just hire lesbians because they definitely won't end up getting pregnant" 😲. Honestly, it's just pathetic... 😠

It’s honestly terrifying. At my office, two people are currently on maternity leave, three of us are pregnant, and we’ll all be heading out on leave soon enough...
Out of about 50 employees total,
nobody would ever dare say something like that, even as a joke. I know exactly what some people think about it, but they just stay quiet.
We have very strict standards at this company, and since it's an international firm—think something like Microsoft or Ford—the social policies are actually progressive. If they had a problem with pregnant women, they wouldn't have hired 99% women between the ages of 25 and 30 without kids already.
I just lost my cool looking at the thread about pregnant women getting priority on the Women's Corner subforum.
To be honest, it’s more about the posts from certain inconsiderate women...

It's true what they say: a woman is a wolf to another woman.
Absolutely disgusting.

We should probably start tagging their usernames next to their posts in the pregnancy section, just so we can ask them how they're feeling now.

Plus, you can't just chug water all day—you sweat, you lose electrolytes, and then that's exactly why you feel nauseous. To get them back in balance, maybe grab a little cup of miso soup every other day, or something like Gatorade or Powerade to put those electrolytes back in your system.

Look, I eat plenty of good soups... and thanks for the tip about Gatorade or Powerade... 🙂

Honestly, the condescension is what gets to me. The logic they use is so incredibly flawed it's actually embarrassing to listen to. They claim my blood pressure will drop because I had something sweet, or whatever nonsense else they come up with...

There is zero reasoning behind it. They are completely obsessed with the baby and the pregnancy. We were down at the beach in Florida, and they were hounding me with phone calls every single day, telling me not to go in the water so I wouldn't catch a cold...

As if I don't have a single brain cell left.

The kicker? My husband smokes and lives on salty, greasy food—he’s already dealing with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and gout. 👍
He’s actually great—he helps out, cleans up, and even goes to all my doctor appointments with me... but today, he sent my blood pressure through the roof.
I was so livid I almost lost it on him and my father-in-law.

The heat is killing me lately, and I feel absolutely miserable. Instead of just staying quiet and showing a little empathy, those two decided today was the day to start lecturing me. Like, seriously? They started questioning why I had a glass of Coke with lunch, implying that's why I'm feeling unwell. As if I haven't been sipping water all day. It's insulting, honestly. To act like I'm some idiot who doesn't know how to hydrate, or like I can't have a single sweet thing without it being a medical crisis. I don't even remember the last time I had much sugar. Honestly, I think a group of a hundred grandmothers at a local farmers market would have more common sense than these two.
I just love it when they team up to deliver their "pearls of wisdom."
And then there's my father-in-law, acting like I'm personally responsible for providing them with a grandchild. Like I'm nothing more than an incubator designed to produce their granddaughter on demand.
Last weekend, I hit a fever of 100 degrees, and my throat started feeling all scratchy and raw.
Since then, I’ve been dealing with a runny nose for a full week now, and that’s really it.

If this turns out to be some viral bug, there isn't much to do besides staying in bed, resting up, and basically drowning myself in Vitamin C and hot tea.

I felt absolutely nauseous for a few months there. I was dealing with constant heartburn and my mouth felt incredibly dry all the time.
I honestly thought I had severe GERD or even that I was pregnant 🙂. Turns out, pregnancy was ruled out after a month 🙂...

The truth is, I started dieting for purely aesthetic reasons—just watching what I ate more closely—and once I did, the symptoms cleared up
.
Later on, during a routine physical through my employer, they caught a gallstone on an abdominal ultrasound. It was about 1cm back in November 2007, but by the time I had a follow-up in June 2008, it had grown to 1.5cm
.
Anyway, I’m currently gearing up for laparoscopic surgery; I'm just waiting on a confirmed date from the surgeon
.
It’s very likely you’re dealing with stones too, though I can't say for sure... it's statistically less common in men than in women
.
I didn't catch if you were experiencing heartburn? If you are, we might be looking at gastritis or even GERD
.
Also, have you checked if your cholesterol is high?

Gallstones... I've been there myself.

You really need to get an abdominal ultrasound done.

I’m thinking about picking up a cake from the Grabar bakery over in Cleveland; I know they have a location in Gajnic too...

So, I wanted to see if anyone here has actually ordered from them before? Any experiences to share?🤷

I’m considering ordering a cake from Grabar over in Columbus—they have a location in a suburban neighborhood, too...

So, I wanted to see if anyone here has actually ordered from them before?🙂

I hit up a wedding expo yesterday and managed to find some cakes for about $20/lb at a local bakery—think somewhere like Magnolia Bakery. Honestly, they were delicious. We’re actually waiting on an older lady to bring us another pound next weekend; she offered us one batch for $80/lb, though we already sampled a bit of another kind for $70/lb...

In my opinion, when you look at those prices, it isn't just about how good the food tastes. Branding and pure popularity play a massive role in what you're actually paying for.

We’re looking at somewhere between 0.38 and 0.44 pounds per person... or about 0.77 to 0.88 pounds if you're ordering for two.
I'm just passing along what the guy told us. He doesn't gain anything by inflating the numbers since we don't even order our pastries from them—this is just based on what we've seen firsthand.

If that sounds like too much, just aim for about 0.33 pounds per person.

darkhound25 said:Marina, from what I've gathered, if you want to give guests or neighbors little boxes of treats, you probably need at least a few ounces per person.
Honestly, I'm still scratching my head over how much dessert we actually need per guest just for the wedding reception itself. 😕

The manager at our venue told us that for a guest list of 200, we should plan on roughly 75 to 85 pounds of dessert.

On this side, you'll find the brand name nitrofurantoin (which is identical to the generic version).

Betty Cox30 said:Does anyone know if any pharmacy in the Washington, D.C. area still has Niner tablets in stock? They’re made by Johnson & Johnson, but I’ve hit about ten different pharmacies today and they all told me they haven't seen them in two months. Apparently, there isn't even a direct substitute!

There's a 99% chance you won't find them anywhere because of a supply shortage. Your only shot is if you get incredibly lucky and stumble upon some leftover stock, but don't hold your breath.
There is an alternative from a foreign manufacturer—it's called nitrofurantoin—but it's a bit pricier than Niner and you can't get it via Medicare. You'll probably pay around $23 for 20 tablets. You might have better luck checking pharmacies that specialize in imported meds (the kind not covered by standard insurance lists). For instance, maybe that shop downtown near the plaza, or the one over in the suburbs, or even the CVS across from the parking lot in the residential district. Honestly, just call ahead before you waste the gas. That one in the residential district is usually the 24-hour spot.
