Obama handing out diplomas at University of Phoenix in Close to Politics ·
restlessscout5 said:So, you're telling me private colleges are actually worthless? Honestly, the situation here feels like the exact opposite of how things work abroad—you know, over in England or the States...

I honestly think the only real value of that school—if you can even call it a college—is the networking. Since most of the students there come from wealthy families, entrepreneurs, or high-level execs, you end up making connections that are absolutely vital for anyone trying to climb the corporate ladder later on... Let’s be real, we all know how much those "connections" actually matter in the job market.

As for the quality of the education? Word is it's a joke. I heard their math exams are basically at a freshman year of high school level... supposedly.

If I recall correctly, even Mason used to hand out diplomas to those "University of Phoenix" types... It all feels a bit too much like elitism to me. Like they're some upper class—children of the rich and successful—while everyone else is just told to wait in line at the service desk. 🙂

Whatever, I don't really care. 😁 Personally, I still maintain that when it comes to the private sector, actual knowledge is the last thing people check—it's purely about what you can do. No one ever bothered asking me where I went to school once they saw what I actually knew how to handle... (And I put way more hours into mastering my craft than someone who coasted through a degree via those "connections." That's 15 years of grinding on specific skills, constantly teaching myself new things just to keep pace with how fast technology moves.)

I've been seeing you around this forum acting like some kind of musical expert—as if you actually know how to play anything. Honestly, you probably just envy the guitarist from Stillness. I could probably arrange for him to give you a few lessons if you're interested... though it won't be cheap, especially since you can't stop talking trash!

Menart is officially dropping the second new album from ST!LLNESS today—titled 'unknown'—and you can grab it in stores starting right now. With this release, ST!LLNESS isn't just maintaining their standing; they’re actually leveling up their entire sound and how they approach the whole creative process. They’ve described the new record as an "unknown"—which sounds pretty intense if you ask me. Even the visual side of things is fully dialed in, with the entire package being handled by unknown.www.unknown.comRegarding that whole idea from unknown—it’s actually tied to the DVD currently being cooked up by the crew over at the Transmeet.tv cultural internet TV project.www.unknown.tvThe visual side of things—all that art and video content—is directly tied to the increasingly intense visual shows you see at concerts today, which are handled by the crew over at unknown.www.myspace.com/triptozionThe album was recorded at an unknown studio over by an unknown.

As we talked about before, the new album, unknown, features thirteen brand-new tracks that capture that signature unknown sound—it's exactly what the longtime fans are looking for, and it should definitely pull in some new listeners too. To sweeten the deal, the album comes with a bonus DVD featuring all of the group's past music videos, along with live footage from their time opening for unknown at Madison Square Garden and their set over at Boogaloo.

The guest list for this album:
DJ Venom — from Generation 81 and JabbaTon — scratching.
unknown - unknown (unknown)
unknown (unknown, unknown) - rhodes
unknown - trombone

I don't know what to tell you—some people just can't handle a little bit of truth without getting defensive. It’s like watching someone try to argue against gravity while they're falling off a building. You can scream all you want, but the ground doesn't care about your feelings. Anyway, I saw what coppermarlin81 was rambling about earlier. Honestly? Total nonsense. It reminds me of that one guy I used to work with back in Chicago—always trying to reinvent the wheel when the wheel worked perfectly fine. Just a lot of noise for the sake of hearing themselves talk. People love to complicate things just to feel important, but at the end of the day, it's usually just plain old ignorance disguised as "expertise."

I can't get this link to work—it’s just hitting a dead end. Is anyone else having trouble accessing this, or am I just dealing with a broken URL? Let me know if it's working on your end.

I haven't seen any posts here yet. If you're looking for something, you'll have to wait until someone actually says something worth responding to.

I’m going to have to disagree there. Look, it's true we live in a sort of "prison"—especially those of us stuck in major cities that feel like literal controlled environments—and yeah, there’s enough injustice surrounding us that most people just choose to ignore. It's easy to look the other way.

But it's also true that there is so much good out there—so many decent people and beautiful spots (just head out to a national park with some friends or find a quiet creek to sit by and then tell me this country is pure hell...)

And if I can't wrap my head around the way these guys think, suddenly I'm the degenerate or the idiot...

It's always me who has to be understanding. Apparently, if I'm "broken," then I'm supposed to go out and demand special rights...

There are probably enough of them out there to start their own massive organizations so the whole world has to care about them. Honestly, who cares, everyone is out there hunting for their own version of freedom and trying to pass off their quirks as perfectly normal...

Why shouldn't pedophiles get all the rights too? Maybe they were just born that way? Who knows...

But they actually get punished, and apparently it's just because they didn't present themselves well... 🙂

"Wise man," you say. Comparing two consenting adults in a relationship to a predator abusing children... that comparison is 👎low-class.

George Ramirez11 said:🙂 I'm a single mom to a wonderful two-year-old. That’s just the reality of things—my husband has been in prison for a year and a half now, and he'll be there for at least another year, maybe two more at most.
My struggle with heroin goes back about ten years. My little boy has everything he needs and then some; I honestly just adore him. I’ve never neglected him, though—to be fair, drugs don't even hit me the way they used to, so I don't really know where I stand with myself anymore. When I'm home, I'm just... normal. Even when I'm crashing, I haven't let it stop me from playing with my kid and giving him my full attention. If it comes down to it, the last cent I have is always spent on him if he needs something, never on getting high. I don't really have a social life, no shady characters hanging around the house, and I hardly ever go out. Maybe once a month, after I've finally gotten him to sleep, I'll sneak a hit somewhere, but even then, I'm glued to my phone just in case my mom calls because the little guy woke up. Long story short, I have one happy, hyperactive, giggly, playful kid who is just as head-over-heels for me as I am for him. When I actually have to leave the house for something, my mom (who lives with us) and I put on this whole little performance to distract him so he doesn't freak out. Otherwise, his crying just breaks me.
So, here's the thing. Two months ago, the police kicked our door down. They got a tip that I was dealing. They searched the place and found absolutely nothing, but—of course—they still managed to bring a caseworker from Child Protective Services right to my doorstep. Now I'm under supervision. These days, I'm basically signing away my rights (whether I want to or not) to comply with the oversight, and the whole process is starting...
Basically, the caseworker is going to contact me once a week to check if the kid is fed, clean, and all that. I can handle that part, but the other part is the problem. They’re going to drug test me whenever they feel like it. If I test positive, I lose custody. I won't say I'll lose my child, since custody would just go to my mother—whom I see and visit all the time anyway—but... still. I want to be a mother to my son. I don't know if people who haven't dealt with addiction can even wrap their heads around this. Even when the stakes are this high, I just can't seem to help myself. I guess I just don't have the willpower or the strength or whatever else it takes to stay clean for those few days needed to pass a test. I know I'm a good mom—honestly, better than a lot of them—but I don't know how to handle this. Losing custody isn't an option. Neither my son nor I would survive it.
How do I stay clean? Just to start—just to get through those first few days to pass the tests—and then we'll figure out the rest. I know I have to get rid of the drugs regardless of all this drama.
I'm not sure if any advice will actually help, but I know some support from people who actually understand the truth of this situation would go a long way...
Thanks.
