Obsession... in Psychology & Therapy ·
Jerry Williams10 said:I’m honestly a little hesitant to even be posting this here.🤦
Here’s how it all went down. About ten months ago, I stumbled upon this girl on Facebook and sent her a friend request, mostly just because I saw she was a huge fan of Gunse, just like me. She accepted the next day and reached out immediately. She was genuinely cool—really pretty, too—and we ended up messaging almost every single day. We had this great rapport for about two and a half months before the moment finally came where we actually met in person. It wasn't even planned; I never expected us to cross paths like that. She was supposed to go to a Gunse concert with her boyfriend, who’s originally from the Midwest (she’s studying in Chicago but grew up in California), but something came up for him, so she asked if I could tag along so she wouldn't have to go alone.
Ever since that one encounter, I’ve just been completely lost. To be blunt, the meeting itself didn't exactly go smoothly, but that didn't stop me from being drawn to her. It’s not like she’s the first girl I’ve ever liked, but I’ve never become this sensitive or worked myself up like this before, and now I don't know what to do with myself. I am absolutely crazy about her; I haven't been able to get her out of my head since that day. In the beginning, our conversations were wonderful, but ever since we met, she hasn't really wanted to talk because I started acting obsessive. I simply couldn't help myself from reaching out to her constantly. I kept projecting all these heavy, sad emotions onto her, which clearly bothered her. Then things turned sour; I started being rude, and she started being rude back regarding certain things. When she wouldn't talk to me, I’d get frustrated and say stupid things to her. I turned into someone I never thought I would be. Eventually, she blocked me because of how I was acting. We didn't speak for about three weeks—honestly, I don't know how I endured it—and then I practically begged for her forgiveness, promising her I’d act normal if she’d let me back in. After days of pleading, she finally gave me a chance, but only on MSN. Honestly, it’s been worse.
She claims she’s moved past everything. I’m not so sure about that.
Now, I’m not even allowed to mention her name. Why? Because she says it makes her uncomfortable when someone she doesn't personally know calls her by her name, 🤷
The bottom line is, I still come across as obsessed. I begged her to add me back on Facebook, but she refused. Instead, she’s started being incredibly harsh toward me. She hurts me, mocks my feelings, and calls me an emo🤦 and tells me I’m not normal or that I’ve lost my mind.
Then, out of pure spite, I’ll call her by her name, and she threatens to block me again if I do it one more time. Who’s the crazy one here?🤷
It’s fine if she wants to insult me, but if I say her name, she threatens to cut me off entirely??
I have apologized to her for everything I’ve done, but she never apologizes to me. There are things that happened—things I won't even go into—that really hurt me, but she couldn't care less. It seems like it's just impossible for her to say sorry.
There have been several times where I’ve done favors for her, but whenever I ask her for something, I get nothing in return. When she needs something, I’m the helpful guy, but as soon as it’s over, she starts making fun of me.
Regardless, all I want is to be her friend, though that feels impossible while I'm in this state of mind. This has been dragging on for seven or eight months now, and it feels so foolish because I don't even truly know her. Nothing can shake my interest in her. I just can't seem to cool off. I know I need to get out more and stop moping over some girl who doesn't care about me and whom I’ve only seen once. I'm sure it isn't a pleasant feeling to be obsessed over. I told her I fell in love with her, and she just said you can't fall for someone you don't know. I honestly don't know if she's right. But yeah, I'm a fool, as is clearly evident, and it’s honestly pathetic that I’ve ended up here.
I feel embarrassed even writing this (there’s plenty more I’ve left out), so if anyone has any advice, please let me hear it...
I just hope you guys don't start mocking me too.

You bet I am... 😵

And you think you know how to escape that madness... I know I need to get out more. I can't keep moping around over some girl who doesn't give a damn about me—especially when we've only met once.

Gather all your strength and just do what I quoted from the opening post. Don't you dare turn around, kid! 😬

They're dealing with such massive issues, and frankly, I’m worried there might not even be a way to help at this point. For their sake and ours, it’s probably best if we just tune them out entirely.

It’s better to just give them a wide berth... 🙂

I’m backing Soadfan for the moderator role. I think they’re doing a solid job. 👍

I can't stand those "you're too young to understand" arguments. It’s nothing more than blatant trolling, and honestly, it just makes anyone using it look cheap. 🙄

I don't have anything against your take, Gregory Garcia... But honestly, Soadfan has banned me so many times on Philosophy that I feel like they won't even let me breathe. It's constant. P R I M O R A N To be brutally honest, I’m just gonna drop some truth bombs here. 😬

Look, this is definitely NOT my problem. I can't be the one getting blamed for "trolling" every single time just because I’m sticking to my guns and sharing my actual opinion. If you all think I'm being difficult, that's just you projecting your own issues onto me. 👍
_______

Hey, Gregory Garcia, I wanted to ask you something else. For what it's worth, I truly believe I am the real Mr. Ronald Rogers27... Why on earth did you shorten my philosophy HR?

To guy who’s basically the soul of this forum? 🤷

Don't go thinking I'm 100% on board with Alim. Not even close. But man, I love reading his stuff. Honestly, probably 90% of the people over on Philosophy US feel the exact same way. Go ahead and ask around!

Dennis Rogers6, I’m going to be brutally honest here...

[1] You're biased because you don't actually have an opinion of your own—you just parrot everyone else's.
[2] You're way too young to have any real, formed ideas. You're just wandering around, mostly without even understanding what people are saying. Your only real metric seems to be figuring out which group holds all the power in the Philosophy department and mimicking how they think.
[3] Honestly, you're too young to even grasp how you're acting, at least from where I'm standing.

Bottom line: you need to step down as moderator immediately. You aren't cut out for the job—you lack both the knowledge and the intuition.

I doubt everything, Nora... Every single word written down. Growing up in the Middle East taught me that, and the West just finished the job. You claim people are mostly good and honest... Well, I was raised to be good and honest too. So were you, Cervantes, alim, shaman, davorin, zacko... and everyone else! 😬

Explain this to me: how is it possible that 99.9% of people in the Middle East are supposedly raised to be good and honest? Just look at what’s happening—it's a nonstop circus, both in Mexico and in America. It’s a parade of lies and scams. "Democracy" took power, stripped people of their jobs, and turned most of them into animals just fighting to survive, wondering if they'll even make it to next month! And those "democratic" parties? They’re all in on it, cutting deals purely out of self-interest. There isn't a shred of goodness left there. How can some shady character, a man pulling the strings behind the Mexican construction mafia, end up as the American Minister of the Interior?!

Good and honest people, you say? How is it possible that "this democratic creation of good and honest people" looks worse than a Kafkaesque novel, even 21 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall?! 👎

Tell me, how does a good man like zacko end up on the front lines in '91? How does someone like me, who worked at a scientific institute, end up on the front lines? How is it possible that good people—an American zacko and a Mexican Ronald Rogers27—end up shooting at one another like animals just trying to survive?! 🤷

Good people, huh? Those same "good" and "honest" people were the ones who recruited me and used the law to force me onto the battlefield... 😬

Whatever, hold onto your version of kindness, Nora. As for me, I buy my own coffee and drinks in Mexico City. Not because I have money to show off, but because I’m at peace. I know that I AM DETERMINING MY OWN fate. I don't owe anyone anything, I don't want to owe anyone, and I don't think anyone owes me anything either. Thinking people are inherently good... that would be going too far. That's not being brave; it's being delusional. 🙄

In other words, just let me disagree with you! It's nothing personal. Life experience has just taught me to be extremely cautious and to TRUST only actions (and over the long haul), never words!

Nathan Perez5, look, your words just don't move me... 🙄 I only care about actions. I've seen it countless times back in the Middle East—people say one thing, promise another, and then do something else entirely. That was a huge reason why I moved from Mexico City to the White World.

It was an incredible decision... Not because I left Mexicans behind, but because I did it for myself... To actually make something of my life and provide for the people I love.👍

What I want to know is: Did you sell your car? Did you downsize your apartment? Or did you sacrifice half your paycheck for at least a year to help those starving kids halfway across the world?! I don't really care about your good intentions. They don't do much for those kids, just like tossing some spare change to a beggar in Times Square doesn't change much. You aren't doing it to help them; you're doing it to soothe your union and convince yourself—and everyone else—that you're a "good" person. And hey, you probably are... just a good person who doesn't quite get how the world works. 😬

ironmarlin1, how you live your life is your business. It doesn't affect me one bit. If you're happy, great. It's better for everyone if you're happy than miserable.

Alim is the ONLY one who actually hit the nail on the head, but as usual, hardly anyone understood him (he's proven more than once that he's "awake" in every sense of the word).

Well, that is a remarkably weak argument. 🙄
You seem to be operating under the assumption that returning that money is inherently "fair," and from there, you jump to the conclusion that the right thing to do is simply pay it back, rather than perhaps redirecting those funds to someone who actually needs them for something fundamental, like school supplies.

I don't know, I really can't buy into that logic. After all, if a person truly knows when they are committing an evil act, then they would also realize that intentionally deafening oneself to the resulting guilt is, in itself, an evil act. Therefore, they are making a conscious decision to be wicked.

I honestly believe they don't care. Besides, try telling someone that. They’ll just respond like Ronald Rogers27 on a message board, telling you it isn't their problem or that you're being overly dramatic about things that don't matter. He feels nothing, and there is nothing left to awaken in people like that.

What you and driftingbear20 are talking about is just hot air. Pure nonsense. It's all just bar talk—big talker stories about planes and trucks... Just endless chatter typical of those old-school social circles in the North America. I've seen enough of those types of groups in my life to know how it goes.

(And when the waiter comes to settle the tab, everyone suddenly stares at their shoes and waits for someone else to pick up the check!) 😬

Ronald Rogers27
The Philosophy of Self-Reliance in Philosophy ·
I didn't quite catch what driftingbear20 was getting at... Are you saying you want to go help those kids? That you want to dedicate your life to this? 👍

Then why are you just sitting there in your apartment (which I'm guessing you didn't pay for all by yourself), dragging yourself to a job you landed through a connection, and living a social life that totally disconnects you from your "inner scream," while preaching to people online? Instead, you should:

- Hand the keys back to whoever owns your place (whether it’s your parents or the government)...
- Thank your employers and quit on the spot, since you're clearly heading off to do charity work...
- Say your goodbyes to your parents, siblings, relatives, childhood friends, your boyfriend, and even all those exes you're actually on good terms with...
- Take whatever cash you were planning to blow on some grass shoes or other mindless luxuries, sell your car, and instead of showing up at the UNHCR to volunteer, just donate the whole pile of money to charity.

Enough with the endless chatter and the fake, pathetic drama... It's just noise. 👎

The 21st-century world... We’re constantly talking about survival and the sheer brutality that the modern world order has introduced as "new methods." It's all just ways to ensure we survive in the Future. 😬

I honestly can't tell if this is truth or lies. Is there actually a strict attempt at population control because old-school methods—like fines and jail time—just aren't working anymore? Or is this all just Western propaganda trying to smear the Chinese and downplay their political, economic, and military clout...?

Whether it's freelance journalists chasing the highest bidder or straight-up state-run propaganda, it all falls under the umbrella of the modern world order that they say we shouldn't mess with! 🤷

Systemic Control or just Propaganda?!

Edward Flores4 said:Look, you aren't exactly a lost cause either .. and I get what you're saying — sure, the focus is on him .. but honestly, I'm not convinced he's going to walk away from this any wiser than when he started. It's not even a question of whether he *can* change .. it's more that he simply *won't*. At the end of the day, you're just spinning your wheels and wasting your own time.☕

Friendship built on opposing philosophies... You two will eventually hit it off, and then one of you is going to end up following the other. The real question is, who follows whom? 😉

Actually, people who return money to an owner don't do it because they lack ideas for how to spend it. Therefore, returning money is immoral because the agent isn't acting on their best judgment.

Returning someone else's cash... Honestly, I find money all the time. Just a five or a twenty on the sidewalk... I don't know why that happens, maybe that's why I have zero luck in love! 😬

Anyway, if I have any clue whose money it is, I'm giving it back. Plain and simple. I'm just an ordinary worker myself—though I exclusively work with my brain—and I know exactly how hard it is to earn a paycheck.

Whether that person spends it on a pair of $1,000 shoes or a fancy suit while people are starving on the streets... NOT really my problem!

(My only problem is making sure I don't starve... and I've gotten pretty good at solving that.) 🙄

Mark Torres14, life is basically just this endless tug-of-war between Good and Evil, between the East and the West, and between the struggle "to be" versus the obsession with "to have"... But honestly, most of the time, it’s just a fight between Good and Good, at the end of the day! 😍

Look, Servantes, your question is way too broad. It’s so vague there isn't even much point in trying to debate it.

It’s basically just a synonym for asking: Should the world be entirely White or entirely Black?

Don't go poking a hornet's nest, no matter what you think is hiding inside... Even if it means failing spectacularly just to leave it alone, who knows what kind of good energy was actually coming from it? There are endless cause-and-effect loops in the modern world order, and as time drags on, those connections only get messier. 😍

If this were truly a world karma factory, you hit the nail right on the head... But we aren't just talking about the good stuff here, far from it! 🙄

If I said I wouldn't change a single thing if I had all the power, I didn't mean I actually agree with how the modern world order works... Quite the opposite, really! 😬

The truth is, I think my good intentions would just end up sending the world in hell. As bad as things are right now, they aren't the worst I can imagine... At least, that's how it feels to me! 😍

Lately, I’ve been spending a lot of my time just observing and trying to wrap my head around the philosophy behind the modern world order and how things are playing out right now...

The more I look at this world and the way everything connects... the more I realize how incredibly perfect the design actually is. Honestly? If I had any kind of power to change things, I wouldn't touch a single thing! 😬

Everything we see is just a direct reflection of the spiritual state of most people. The minority gets pushed to the edges, forced to endure terror if they even dare to stand up for their rights...

Self-interest is what runs this world, folks. Whether you like it or not, whether you agree or not—it’s the driving force.

Interest is powerful enough to crush EVERYTHING... except for one single thing. The state of reincarnation. 🙄

Age doesn't mean a thing... whether you're 17, 27, 77, or even 177. It’s all about how you feel inside. If you hit 57 and decide you're already at the finish line, then that's exactly what's going to happen... 😬

Keep smiling, keep your head up, and just charge forward through life. You can shape your reality however you want. If you align your own mental standards with the way the world works, you'll find your rhythm. That's how you make things happen. 🙂

But listen, you have to believe in your vision with everything you've got. Because if you don't... 👎

Ronald Rogers27
I think your second and third paragraphs are a bit too idealistic. No matter how much things change, society is always going to project its own conflicts onto the people around it. Society evolves, and honestly, I feel like it moves way faster than any one individual can. For a single person to outpace the rest of society, they’d need this incredibly sharp vision of the future based on their own predictions.

Maybe someone like that could actually break free from the friction society forces on them. But you have to admit, you could probably count those kinds of people in any given country on just two hands, right?
