Natreen vs. brown sugar vs. honey in Health ·
Joseph Watson3 said:😂 This is getting ridiculous.

Don't push it.
You mentioned you have a background in chemistry or biology or something similar, right?
So, I’m assuming you actually know what you're talking about here.
The thing is, nobody has definitively proven that artificial sweeteners are totally safe to use,
nor has anyone actually funded enough research to prove they're harmful once and for all.
I already mentioned that I know some neurologists advise against using them.

I eat so little sugar that a bit of white sugar certainly isn't going to kill me!😁
Plus, I still treat myself to those high-quality, organic dark chocolates because they just taste so much better.
As for the rest of the world, they can do whatever they want!

Joseph Watson3 said:I personally stick to Natrue (cyclamate) for my coffee! I just don't buy into all that fear-mongering that blames artificial sweeteners for every single health issue under the sun—from tumors to Alzheimer's—without any actual proof. !!!

Well, there isn't definitive proof that it's safe either 😉
I know neurologists are shouting "absolutely not!"
And honestly, I always feel a little bit guilty whenever I eat something containing an artificial sweetener

At the end of the day, it's a personal choice

Maria Doyle27 said:thanx jadesailor14, you actually inspired me to do a little digging online!😉

We've already seen three posts this week claiming "E330 is evil," so I was starting to feel a bit burnt out😁
feeling like we're just dragging the same old topic all over the forum in different threads.

Let me break it down for you, jadesailor14! 😁
I've heard so many different takes on the whole parent-child dynamic lately! It really makes me think that jumping straight to calling in the grandparents might not always be the best first move.
I just can't get these soggy little nuggets to stay put!
Ready when you are! Just send over the posts and I'll get to work turning them into fresh, authentic American content.
It was such a pleasure! 😁

Hey, let's not jump to conclusions about who needs to see a psychiatrist! 😉
Support and conversation are definitely important, but honestly, her family might actually be the ones who need to see a psychiatrist more.

LOL
I wouldn't even bother trying to argue
instead I'd just sit there and cry, hoping against hope that the woman isn't actually some medical PhD
you don't need to be a chemist to figure this one out😉

Angela Wright said:Well, you know how surnames work! Just look her up in the phone book—I bet your daughter has her home number, too. Honestly, just reach out to Mrs. Smith or whoever, introduce yourself, and explain that you’re worried based on what you found. It isn't "snitching" at all; it's actually being responsible. If it were your own kid, wouldn't you want another parent to give you a heads-up if something was wrong?

That isn't always the best way to handle things.
It's easy to say when dealing with reasonable seniors, but unfortunately, there are plenty of them out there who aren't exactly trustworthy.
I have daughters aged 21 and 19, so I've heard just about everything!

Kimberly Nelson5, please sit down and have a real heart-to-heart with your daughter first to see what her living situation is actually like before you make any moves.
And as for the seniors, wait until you have more of the story before you say anything to them.
You don't want to accidentally make a bad situation even worse!
Metabolism issues... any tips? in Health ·
Just looking at how long your doctor's appointment lasted isn't enough to decide if you have a super slow metabolism.
If you're basing that conclusion on your medical history or checkups, then suggesting someone just go grab some over-the-counter pills from a drugstore is, to put it mildly, totally unprofessional.

If my doctor acted like that, I’d take it as a total joke and a slap in the face.
I'd find a new one immediately! ☕

Raymond Gray2 said:By cutting back on certain foods and making smarter choices, I managed to bring my blood pressure down from an average of 150/100 to 130/85—all while gradually tapering off my meds (Iruzid and Atenolol).

Just because it worked for you doesn't mean it'll work for everyone!
People deal with health issues for way more reasons than just eating the "wrong" stuff or overindulging.
Honestly, claiming otherwise feels a bit arrogant.

So, go ahead—run out and buy the biggest candle you can find, then go burn it on your doorstep as a little "thank you" since you solved all your problems so easily!

I think I might just go ahead and grab myself some lasagna! 🙂
I definitely will!

Honestly, anyone who keeps posting "here, here, here..." on this forum this year is just being silly!
I swear, I am actually going to track you guys down! 🙂

A few different people have already shared their experiences about this in this thread, so definitely take a look at the older posts! 🙂

wearycrane11 said:But the only issue is I can't find it anywhere here in the city. Does anyone know if it's available near you, and what kind of price we're looking at?

It also comes under the names Psorcutan and Dovonex
I'm not sure if they stock it on the regular shelves at the local pharmacy, but I'm pretty sure you can order it here, or maybe even find it online!
Amy Lee18 said:Hey mods, can we move this over to the "topics that had us dying laughing" section? 😂

Not quite yet!
I'm still waiting for someone to spill some tea about E350 😉

😂 😂 😂
So, what exactly is bothering you? 🙄

Why wouldn't she be?
She's anything but! 😁
You really hit the nail on the head there
 :very sad:
Amy Lee18 said:She mentioned she wants us to work together to build a list of products we've spotted that contain GMOs. 🙂

Here is my starting list (I'll definitely be adding more as I find them!):

Just curious, what makes you think those specific products have GMOs in them?
Sudden weight gain: What's going on? in Health ·
I definitely don't want to step on any gynecologist's toes here, but I’ve always felt like those high-dose pills are just a bit too intense
Nowadays, they usually start you off with much lighter options
But honestly, you should probably find a specialist who can walk you through the specifics better than I can

There is so much out there to read about thyroid issues, so definitely do a little digging online regarding symptoms
Your best bet is to ask your primary care doctor for a referral to an endocrinologist and request blood work for thyroid hormones and antibodies
Since waiting lists at places like Mayo Clinic can be such a nightmare lately, it might be easier to just book a private appointment—though, of course, that comes with a price tag

How tall are you, and what's your weight? I just want to get a baseline so we can establish if you "look pretty much normal" to everyone else.

Who suggested Diane to you? I'm a little confused—was it your OB-GYN or a dermatologist?

Also, which hormones do you think are acting up?

Megan Williams5 said:I stepped on the scale again today after a bit of a break... and wouldn't you know it, the number is up another two pounds compared to just last week.
Honestly, I am at a total loss here. I’m eating balanced meals, I’m staying active—I'm moving plenty—and yet the scale just keeps creeping upward. It's been happening for a while now.
About three years ago, I was actually underweight for my height. Then, out of nowhere, the weight started piling on. Within a single year, I gained over 20 pounds. If I had just stopped at what most would call an "ideal" weight, everything would be fine, but instead, this slow, steady gain continues.
There isn't any obvious culprit. My diet hasn't undergone any drastic changes, and I haven't suddenly become a couch potato.
Given that other symptoms are pointing toward potential hormonal issues, I have to wonder if there's an underlying imbalance at play.
If anyone else has dealt with something similar, please, let me know.
I'm also looking for advice on how to adjust my nutrition to stop this trend. It feels completely illogical to slash my caloric intake—when I'm already eating a normal, reasonable amount—just to force my weight to stay stagnant.

So, what did the doctor end up saying?
