I was watching some old highlights last night, and it got me thinking about how much we romanticize players returning to their roots. You always see these massive, sweeping stories about a hero coming back to where it all started to "finish the job" or restore glory.

In my experience, it rarely works out that smoothly. I remember a few years back when a certain player I loved came back to his old club, and instead of a fairy tale, it just felt like a desperate attempt to recapture lightning in a bottle. It usually ends with the player looking aged, the squad chemistry being totally off, and the fans feeling let down when the magic doesn't happen.

It feels like a bit of a cliché in modern sports. Is it genuine passion, or is it just the easiest way to drum up hype and sell jerseys when a career starts to plateau?

Do you think these "returning hero" moves actually help a team's culture, or are they mostly just marketing stunts?
Postpartum headaches: What's normal and what's not? in Women's Health ·
I dealt with daily headaches for an entire month following childbirth—just constant, unrelenting pain from morning until night. At first, I blamed it on pure exhaustion and nerves—then I suspected the Pitocin, since a headache is listed right there in the side effects—and eventually, I tried to convince myself it was just the lingering stress and anxiety from my time at the hospital. When I couldn't pin down a single cause, I basically just resigned myself to the fact that my head was going to hurt every single day... I wasn't even taking any medication. Eventually, it just passed.
I went through with two root canals during my pregnancy—without even getting X-rays done—and now the follow-up scan shows a total disaster 😢. My dentist wants me to wait a few months for a check-up, but I’m already looking at oral surgery... I just really hope it doesn't come down to an extraction 🙂.
And my hair? It's getting worse by the day—clogging up the drain and sticking to my brush 😢.
Don't even get me started on my back. Seriously, if I bend over for even a split second—like tossing a shirt onto the couch or fixing the bedsheets—I’m stuck 😢... it takes a full minute or two just to manage to stand upright again. All that lounging around this summer is finally catching up with me
.
Putting on socks is the easy part.
The real nightmare? Pantyhose... first you have to bend over—slowly, mind you—and handle them with extreme precision so you don't snag them immediately. Then you have to bend over *again* to pull them up from the feet to make sure they aren't bunching up at the ankles... ugh, what a workout.

To top it all off, I’ve already dealt with two headaches from the clerks at Walgreens... I haven't even used my pregnancy voucher book yet, but apparently, it expired on August 31st, and now suddenly they’re refusing to honor it. It’s ridiculous—back before I had this bump, they never gave me any trouble about getting a new one if I lost it or if it expired.🙄
So, tonight—my stomach and I were out roaming the streets of Chicago—we flagged down a cabbie to see if he was available. He says he’s free, sure, but then hits us with this ridiculous rule: no ice cream allowed in the car. Honestly? It’s a joke. All we wanted was two tiny bites of a cone. Total overkill.
So now we’ve got some cab driver trying to lecture us on how to live our lives—as if he’s some kind of philosopher because he spends all day behind a steering wheel. Give me a break. Took a stroll. Home at last—saved some cash, the evening is looking beautiful... just perfect. 😕
I honestly thought the guy was joking—as if he actually gives a damn about how I look.
We laid it all out for him—told him exactly where we’re headed—and he knows damn well there’s nothing ahead of him but a brutal uphill climb and endless stairs.
Are you kidding me? Seriously? 😲!!
Honestly, the guy barely kept his cool when he suggested we go for a walk—I thought he was going to blow a fuse right then and there.
A whole lot of everything...
I am losing my mind
- why does this pregnancy feel like a freaking eternity—nine months is way too long!!!
- I actually thought I was hitting the "home stretch" and that the end was finally in sight,
but then I realized today that I still have exactly 30😲 days until my due date... I CANNOT DO THIS ANYMORE!!!
- everyone else is out there living their lives while I’ve been stuck dealing with pressure sores for over two months now, just bored to absolute death
- there isn't even a new shop opening up in town—I've already hit every single store in the area a million times and I have nowhere left to walk
- when I get driven crazy by the boredom and lack of things to do, I start causing chaos around the house because I can't help myself... I need to grab something and be productive 🙄 otherwise I am going to explode
- because I'm so bored, I just keep eating, which only makes the heartburn worse... and it hurts😢
- and then there's everyone giving me the same old advice: "Get some sleep, you won't be able to later." 🙄 Seriously? What am I supposed to be tired from? I'm not doing anything except lying around or shuffling through the house!
I am absolutely drowning in questions here:
What did you guys end up getting for the baby?
Is everything already bought and packed?
...meanwhile, I’ve got exactly three onesies and three pairs of tiny socks to show for it.
When are you all planning to actually shop?
...well, duh—why do you think that's all I have?

Last night, some guy I consider a complete moron tried to talk me into skipping the whole naming process in a truly idiotic
attempt to "explain" to me why my desire to pick a perfect name for my child is pointless.
His logic? Just pick anything, because he's a boy, and nobody ever calls boys by their actual names anyway—just nicknames.
And get this... he thinks there's no point even trying since everyone will just call him by his last name because it's short and recognizable.
....🙄 Oh, brilliant! Why stop there, you idiot? Maybe my kid shouldn't have a name at all. What's the point?
I am absolutely fed up with these fluctuating numbers—one day the scale says I’ve gained three pounds, the next it claims I’ve lost five... honestly, screw this whole pregnancy thing. As if I didn't have enough real stressors to deal with, now I have to obsess over my weight at delivery and whether I'll end up looking like a total wreck once it's all over.
Insane comments from supposedly educated people when I’m looking for actual, sensible advice.... specifically:
me—the baby isn't hitting growth milestones, measurements are allegedly identical to two weeks ago, and we're still stuck in this "wait and see" limbo
most of them—just let him lie there and rest, and feed him tons of meat and veggies and fruit so he finally grows😲
Give me a break. Seriously, if you didn't spend six years in grad school for something, what was it for? This kind of nonsense makes a person genuinely worried... though I keep hoping they were just joking
You’re sitting in the waiting room at the OB-GYN clinic, and you’ve got a group of pregnant women acting like they’ve been best friends since kindergarten... and then there’s always that one loudmouth who talks at a volume better suited for a dive bar in rural Alabama—the kind of place where she learned how to shout over a bunch of drunks just to be heard. She feels entitled to grill everyone about their pregnancy, dump her entire medical history on you, and somehow knows every single bit of juicy gossip about every doctor in the building.
So that's it—you're stuck eating nothing but junk food... looks like you've hit a real rough patch 🙂
It drives me absolutely insane watching people obsess over what pregnant women can or can’t eat and drink... just back off!! I couldn't care less about what’s considered "healthy" or what’s "too much" of this or that—nothing is actually healthy or natural anymore anyway!
I'm going to eat and drink whatever the hell I want, and honestly, I'm just happy to finally be able to stomach anything after spending half my pregnancy feeling like I was constantly on the verge of puking at the mere thought of food..
It drives me absolutely insane when the clock hits midnight. Every single damn day, right at that moment, I get hit with these random cravings... For weeks, it was nothing but a greasy cheeseburger. During the day, I don't even think about food, but the second it turns midnight, my brain snaps and demands a snack—of course, there’s never anything in the pantry.
It’s getting seriously ridiculous.
Now, for instance, I’m sitting here dying for some French fries. I don't even like potatoes; I buy them maybe once a year just to make some dumplings, yet here I am wanting fries, so yeah 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
So, I had this experience at the local Mayo Clinic just a few days ago...
-I showed up incredibly early—7:00 AM sharp, acting like a total grandma🙂—and there were already two pregnant women ahead of me at the intake desk. Even though the sign on booth #2 says "Pregnant Women Have Priority" in massive letters, a group of elderly ladies was already crowding that specific door while all the other booths sat empty. I asked the clerk if I absolutely had to use booth #2 or if I could just use any station to get my blood drawn—mostly because I was picturing the absolute chaos once three pregnant women finish using the restroom and try to squeeze through that one door at the same time. The woman behind the counter told me I could use another one, but she added—with a straight face—that I should probably hide my baby bump. 😕
By the time I got out of the restroom, some poor guy—who wasn't even old, just a dude in his 40s—was already mid-argument with those two pregnant women about who actually goes next in line. 🙂
I ended up just ducking into the booth next door, and the nurse drew my blood without a single issue (which is hilarious, considering when I first came in and tried to use a different booth, the nurse gave me such an attitude).

-After the clinic, I headed over to the Social Security office...
There was a line of at least ten people. A pregnant woman was at the front, followed by an elderly lady who looked like she could barely stay upright... and honestly, I felt terrible just cutting in front of them (even though usually I’d just walk away—you know how it is, the sheer embarrassment of someone saying, "Oh, I can stand, it's not like it's hard for me"). It was only 7:30 AM, too; I assumed everyone was rushing to get to work, and after that hospital nonsense, I was bracing myself for a huge scene if I dared to move forward... but then, to my complete shock😲, both the woman in front of me and the woman behind me were incredibly polite about it. They basically told me to just go ahead and skip the wait. 😲😲😲 ...So I went to the front, and not a single person muttered a word or gave me a dirty look. 😁 I have no idea where that sudden wave of kindness came from😁, especially from women—and older women, no less, who are usually the most cantankerous people on the planet. Either I happened to hit the jackpot that morning, or I just looked so exhausted and miserable that they took pity on me.
My stomach is officially starting to block my view... today I slammed right into this tiny stool that was just sitting there on the floor where it didn't belong—couldn't even see it because my gut got in the way 🙄
Now I look like some victim of a street fight, sporting a massive bruise and a nasty scrape on my shin... and the worst part? It’s too damn hot to be wearing pants, so I have to parade this bruise around for the next two weeks—which feels like an eternity to me. And please, spare me those "remedies" for bruises suggesting you rub margarine or butter on them—total garbage. I slathered butter on my leg immediately and it still turned blue anyway.
Ethan King75 said:My nerves were absolutely shot today at the OB-GYN clinic. A bunch of husbands and partners just sitting there comfortably while a crowd of pregnant women are forced to stand...

Man, one guy actually made my skin crawl... he showed up at the clinic with his wife, who was clearly past her due date—huge belly, visibly struggling just to stay upright... there wasn't a nurse at the desk at that moment, so she's stuck standing right there at the counter, and this absolute jerk just sits himself down in the waiting room chair... seriously, gross. How can you be such a pathetic excuse for a man?!...
It would have been the decent thing to do if he’d told her to sit down while he stood there by the desk...

I gotta stop posting about my vacation and these tourists. Ever since we hit the coast a few days ago, I can’t go to the beach without everyone staring at my gut. It’s like a cartoon—every time I head toward the water, I feel the whole beach tracking my every move. Like, seriously, WHAT IS SO INTERESTING about a pregnant belly?? 😕
The worst part is when people on the beach try to strike up a conversation, asking what week it is or trying to give you unsolicited advice. I’m just sitting here waiting for someone to ask if I’m actually getting any sun or how I even manage to get into the water.

Ugh, gross. That sounds like one of those beaches packed with bored older ladies... I was at a spot where nobody was over 35 or under 15, and my bump went completely unnoticed. Everyone was too busy eyeing those fit girls in bikinis with tattoos on their backs—and honestly, I was looking too, 😁those girls were absolute perfection
Benjamin Roberts5 said:I’m way too high-strung for that; I’d end up getting into an argument immediately..
so I'd rather just wait until it's my turn—then I'll go.

Oh, please—that sounds great! You pick a fight, blow off some steam, deal with being cranky for ten minutes... but then comes that moment where the adrenaline drops and you're left with nothing but pure satisfaction and a grin. Then you can just hop onto this forum to brag 😉 and all the other expectant moms will be happy for you.
A couple days ago(🤔) I told my husband—right after he bought three bars of chocolate and we polished all three off that very same day—that we are officially done buying that stuff! No more chocolate, no more cookies, no more pastries. I can’t find any peace when that junk is sitting in the pantry; I feel this frantic need to devour everything immediately. And then, this morning, out of nowhere...
"Want some Coca-Cola?"
..."No!"
"How about a chocolate croissant?"
..."HELL NO!!"
And people wonder how I'm supposed to eat healthy... I haven't even touched it yet, but I can't stop thinking about it 😢—about how it's just sitting there in the box, drying out in the draft from the AC, getting stale and gross until it eventually ends up in the trash... I swear I can actually hear it calling my name, begging me to eat it...
Ugh, I am so incredibly on edge right now!!
Because of this, my dear husband won't be eating lunch today until he finally remembers that his steak is still sitting in the freezer.

These pregnancy hormones are going to be the death of me!
Kate Cox2 said:Well, I find myself getting annoyed over even "smaller" things too.. 🤦
Ever since I became pregnant, I don't know what it is, but other people's children have been driving me absolutely crazy (with the sole exception of my one little niece)...🤷
And it gets even more grating when I realize that people suddenly expect me to lose all composure and fawn over every single baby and toddler just because I'm expecting myself..😕

As for me? Every single kid drives me up the wall—including my own husband when he smiles at a child and comments on how cute they are. It's annoying. I don't look at kids, I don't smile back if they stare at me, nothing... the only time I actually look is if I spot an incredibly ugly one, just to see if it's God or Mendel's fault.
