Sean Long4 said:It honestly drives me up the wall when my grandparents start asking if the baby is "back from the dead" or some other nonsense... I’m just totally over having to explain myself constantly. And don't even get me started on seeing people I haven't run into in ages. Their very first comment is always, "Oh wow, you've put on weight." Then, once I tell them, "I'm pregnant," they hit me with that incredibly dim-witted, "Oh, ah, sorry, I didn't realize..." If you're going to be that tactless, then please, just don't say anything at all.

-"Man, you've really put on some weight..."
-"Right? Honestly, looking at you, you have too. Anyway, I'm pregnant. You been hitting the buffet lately?"
😁
Hannah Lewis2 said:Oh, please! Give me a break! 😠 People like that drive me absolutely insane. Like, oh, sorry, does he have to pass a tiny little kidney stone through his system? God forbid! They act like a 99-degree fever is a death sentence and then proceed to complain about it for hours!

My father-in-law once told me how his wife used to pour concrete for their stairs while she was heavily pregnant, yet here I am, barely able to mop the kitchen floor. By the way, I'm currently on strict bed rest...
But hey, his son turned out fine, thank God. I don't even want to think about what would've happened otherwise. Since I became pregnant, he has done a complete 180°. For the better, obviously.

Exactly. ☕ Just like how they’d be digging up gardens until the very last second—hauling water from wells, dragging in firewood, all that nonsense... and then, oh yeah, dying during childbirth (or even before it) like flies. God, those "good old days." It's wild how selfish and reckless people could be.
Bandera, honestly, I don't even know what to say to your father-in-law's nonsense... personally, I think he deserves a good smack for being such an idiot.
I can’t even say this guy’s "help" actually works. 🤷 Like, sure, he does stuff—but HOW he does it is the problem. First example: vacuuming without touching the bedroom.
Second example: dusting. Great, now what? What am I supposed to do with the rest of the mess?
Third example: I go to clean the bathroom. Fine. But what about the toilet? Did he even look at the toilet?
Fourth: he takes out the trash. Cool. But what about the little bin in the guest bath? Yeah...

And so it goes, and so it goes, and so it goes...
To hell with this "helping" crap—what's the point if I have to go over everything eight more times with a rag, or end up doing half the damn work myself anyway?
Edward Rodriguez4, I know exactly how you feel... mine claims he did some "massive" cleaning the other day. Honestly, don't even get me started—man, if he’d actually cleaned the whole damn house, we wouldn't be having this talk. Like, okay, great, you vacuumed. What now? You want a Medal of Honor or a trophy for being the MVP of housework?
So, I finish my own marathon cleaning session in the bedroom, bend down to grab something, and what do I see? Under the bed... it wasn't even dust anymore. It was basically little balls of lint forming their own ecosystem...
Wait a second, you said you vacuumed? And there's still stuff under the bed?
Oh. So he didn't even touch the bedroom...

🤦 🙂

I am going to kill him. Seriously, I'll just end him!
Taylor Swift, that loser isn't worth a single syllable from you, let alone a tear. I know exactly what it feels like to get absolutely nothing from someone who should’ve been your rock—I haven't heard a peep from mine since my 12th birthday. Then suddenly, out of nowhere, he decides to call. Oh, poor guy's in the hospital, boo-hoo, crying his eyes out, blah blah blah—apparently, life finally bit him in the ass and he remembered he actually had a kid. Let's just say I shut him down fast. No need for details. And honestly? Zero regrets. He doesn't even need to reach out when he kicks the bucket. That's not a father—not by any stretch of the imagination. In my book, biology is a total non-factor.
As for wedding invites, my father-in-law pulls the same kind of stunts. It's always "we'll do this" or "we'll do that." Look, we aren't. "Well, we'll invite this person or that person." Nope. "But we have to." No, we don't. If we just invite our friends, fine. But then it's "it HAS to be this way" or "it MUST be that way..." and then, surprise, he won't show up because—and I quote—he wasn't involved in the planning. You won't come? Cool. Glad we cleared that up.
He didn't show. We didn't miss him, and nobody even noticed he was gone. I'm sure he's feeling pretty bad about it now (we're on decent terms), but that's his cross to bear, not mine...
Tina, sending you a huge hug... I know exactly how much this sucks, and I know saying "just don't let it get to you" is easy for anyone to say—but seriously, try it, if only for the sake of the baby. You said it yourself: your dad is who he is, and there's no changing him at this point. You’re pregnant, you're planning a wedding—even if it's just a tiny courthouse ceremony with ten people, there's still a ton of logistics!—and YOU need to be the priority here, not some offended ego!
People are just relentlessly selfish, isn't it great? 🤦
If it helps at all, you aren't alone: I got into it with my mom this morning. 🙄 My grandma is in the hospital, things are looking pretty uncertain, and she's scheduled for surgery today—this is the woman I grew up with, someone I'm incredibly close to—and my mom, instead of actually trying to comfort me, is just whining about how awful SHE has it and how she'll be all alone if grandma passes away (!!!). I mean, what can you even say to that? 🙄
Don't even get me started on my dad; I haven't spoken to him in years, and honestly, I have no desire to.
The main thing is that you and your man are okay. That the baby is healthy. As for all these emotional vampires who do nothing but drain you without bringing anything positive to the table... you've gotta cut them out of your life... or at least keep them at arm's length.
My mother-in-law was acting like a total know-it-all last night. Like, where does she even get off telling me I shouldn't drink alcohol while I'm pregnant? Who does she think she is?
Honestly, why does it matter? Whether I heard it from my doctor, read it somewhere, or just decided it myself—that's my business. She probably spent her whole pregnancy drinking anyway; looking at my husband, I can see those "genius" genes definitely kicked in at some point...
Everyone's getting on my nerves lately, but she’s definitely at the top of the list.
So, a friend of mine—she’s further along in her pregnancy than I am—was just venting about how everyone is driving her absolutely insane. It doesn't matter if it's a coworker, her own mother, or the neighbor's husband; they all just swoop in and start grabbing at her stomach. 👎 Honestly? Gross. What is wrong with people? Since when did it become okay to just jump on a woman and start "petting" her? It's her body, for crying out loud. If you have such a desperate need to be that intimate with someone, can you at least ask permission first?! Seriously, some people are just sick... My bump isn't even showing yet, but if anyone tries that kind of thing with me in a month or two, they’re gonna lose a hand...😠
