I have a few options for a comeback:
- "Yeah, you look great—like you haven't eaten since last Christmas / Easter..."
- Just ignore her comment entirely... then pivot straight to talking about sex, cuddling, and all the other joys you share with your husband... or don't have, but either way, you rub her lack of a sex life right in her face... because clearly, that's her core issue...
- Ask her point-blank: "Are you that thin because you're celibate or just lonely?"
etc.
Of course, you have to be sure the person is actually being malicious... someone who isn't being spiteful wouldn't say something like that... and if they are, they deserve a nasty reply...

🙏🙏🙏 🤣🤣🤣
My boss has been driving me absolutely insane for days now—especially yesterday. She’s an uptight old lady normally, but with all these corporate restructuring shifts happening, she can't even sit in her ergonomic chair without losing her mind. Her direct supervisor just left the company, so now this old hag is panicking because she has no clue who's taking over his spot. Basically, she doesn't know whose ass she needs to start kissing immediately. As incompetent as she is, she isn't stupid enough to realize it—and she sure knows that sucking up is the only way she keeps her desk. She's been hysterical for days, and obviously, we're all stuck dealing with the fallout.
I CANNOT WAIT to get out of this dump!!! 😠
Paul Diaz602 said:Facts. It's mostly women commenting, usually the ones who are way too thin or way too heavy. They seem totally obsessed with the scale—just watching everyone else gain or lose weight and talking about nothing else.

Solid advice😉. Now we just need a comeback for those super skinny girls who are also obsessed with body image 😛. Like, I have this coworker, she's over 30, hasn't had a boyfriend in forever, doesn't have a job, stays home, and is way too thin. The whole conversation always turns into how all our school friends gained weight because they got married and had kids and couldn't get back to their old selves, while she's been the exact same weight since high school 🙄.

Good for her, right? Total life goals. 🙏
No wonder she isn't gaining weight—all those calories are being burned off by pure spite and frustration. 🤣
neonsurfer32 said:Here’s a little tip—when some lady who’s carrying a bit of extra weight asks if you’re having twins, just give her a polite smile and say, "No, actually, it's triplets..." I find it exhausting lugging all this weight around in front of people... so I pair it with a deeply tragic expression. Then, once they've processed that, I'll just glance down at their waistline and ask, "So, how many are you expecting?" Lying to a stranger might be a sin, but seeing the look on their face? Totally worth it. 😠
If she looks like she’s a bit older, swap out the pregnancy question for: "I see those postpartum pounds are still hanging around for you." 😬
Personally, I don't think anyone will ever be brave enough to comment on my size again after that.

🙏
Plus, I've put on two pounds already... anyone who doesn't know I'm pregnant hasn't even breathed a word, it's not showing... but the old timers who know? Oh yeah, they're all over it.
Great advice—I'm definitely using that. I don't even go to church, so I'll skip the whole "sinning" part. 👍 🤣
Seriously though—has anyone actually dealt with this weight gain thing while maintaining a normal BMI? Because for me, it’s been a total joke. First off, it’s always women 😢 . Second, at least in my experience so far, it's just constant bloating that makes you look more like a bloated balloon than a person (and obviously, no, I'm not pregnant). 🙄
Got some old-school nonsense today. A close friend of mine just told me she’s pregnant 🙂. She had a little spotting—just light bleeding—and then some idiots started freaking her out, claiming ultrasounds are WAY too dangerous during early pregnancy. 🙂
I had my first scan at maybe 4 weeks, and thank God I did, because otherwise who knows when we would've caught that unlucky hematoma. It got me put on Duphaston right away and everything turned out fine. If I’d waited weeks? Who knows what would’ve happened. I barely managed to explain to her to stop listening to uneducated morons and just book an appointment ASAP. 🙄
On the transit front—today I go to board the bus and some old guy tries to shove his way past me and catches me in the ribs with his elbow. And man, he's got some strength! 😠 He hit my bag, lucky me. Proudly reporting that I instinctively reacted like I never have in my life and gave him a taste of his own medicine. No regrets either—zero conscience here.
Michael Hernandez50 said:Honestly, the absolute best part of this whole thing is reading everyone's comments... I mean, what is with all this modern hand-holding and constant caution? Back in my day, we were out in the fields every single day, digging up potatoes and lugging heavy baskets on our heads right up until the moment we went into labor! 🙂

To quote myself—I honestly couldn't care less who gave birth to whom or how much dirt they shoveled afterward 😳. That's their business.
Heading downtown this afternoon... hopefully without getting into some massive standoff on the bus...

People like that drive me insane (been since my college days, I wouldn't even sit on the subway because of people like that, even when it was half empty), and there are always these intense "grandmas" and "grandpas" just looking for a reason to complain and make a scene. Ugh, I lose it over that stuff😠
At least you could have apologized, you brat😂
And I'm positive if you weren't pregnant, you'd soon start lecturing people about how disrespectful and rude kids are nowadays

Yeah, we're obnoxious☕
Always have been—but honestly, I used to pride myself on it. You see those pathetic old folks who can barely stay upright? Real sight. I’d always jump up before they even got near me, just to offer a hand. But these ladies—who aren't even that old, mind you—put on their high heels and then start huffing right in my ear 😠...as if a little lift would actually move me!
It's easier now that I'm sitting down (morning sickness still hits me pretty hard most days, too). And frankly, I couldn't care less about how many kids someone had or how much dirt they moved afterward... ☕...they could've stayed put for all I care. I didn't force them to squeeze onto the subway with me ☕
My mom just finished driving me absolutely insane. She calls me up just to interrogate me about whether I’ve eaten dinner yet. "Yeah," I tell her, "I had a banana, a pear, two mandarins, and now I'm grabbing some yogurt."
- Joe, Joe, that's just fruit—that isn't a real dinner! You have to eat properly, you can't just have two meals a day, and who knows if you even ate lunch... blah blah blah, endless nagging... 🙄
Look, Mom, I don't need a lecture on knowing my own body; I'm not trying to gorge myself like a pig right before bed just so I'm staring at the ceiling all night... 🙏
Austin Ramirez3 said:A few people actually asked me: "So... was that... uh... an accident?"
Even if it was—since when do people think they have the right to grill someone about their pregnancy? 😵

WTF?!?!??! Seriously, what is wrong with people? Did they not ask if I had video footage too? Like, is that just what everyone needs to binge after the nightly news? God, some people are just something else... 🤦
Oh my god, public transit 😠
So, some day I’m heading to work (where I spend 80% of my time STANDING, btw) and I hop on the bus. Ffs, wearing my jacket, you couldn't see anything anyway (okay, let's be real, you can barely see anything even without the jacket).
And of course, some old guy rolls up—not even ancient, maybe mid-50s—and literally almost drops her bag in my lap:
- You could stand up for me.
Not even a question. Just a statement. And "you"? Look, I know I look young, but I'm 30 damn years old, give me a break!!!
Usually, I'd freeze up, but this time I just fired back:
- I won't be standing up, I'm pregnant. I'm pregnant, walking to a job where I have to stand all day, and I really don't feel like standing right now either.
Then I just stared out the window. Who cares what they think? Not me.
Honestly, I don't get why all these retirees who have the WHOLE day to themselves decide to swarm the buses and subways EXACTLY when everyone else is commuting to work or school. 😠
Another reason I’m losing my mind: the mom + husband combo. Just kill me now.
So, my mom brought up the idea of me staying at her place for the first two weeks after I give birth. She’ll take her vacation time, obviously. My aunt wants in too. Honestly? I’d love that. My husband is basically useless when it comes to actual help—I mean, let’s be real, if it involves cleaning or cooking, he’s out. First off, I’d be leaning on my mom hard. Plus, my aunt works as a pharmacist (so she’ll definitely have all the supplies I need). And look, I can't exactly imagine anyone else helping me deal with potential recovery from an episiotomy wounds; my husband has this ridiculous theory that if you haven't lost an arm, a leg, or your head, you're just being dramatic—claims he hasn't even heard of Octeinsept in that context. And who else? My mother-in-law lives nearby, but God forbid I ask her for help. 😲
The other thing is, they live about 15 miles away. My mom doesn't drive, and it feels wrong to drag them back and forth every single day with pots of food and everything else—they aren't exactly in their prime, you know? At the end of the day, I think the most important thing is just me—making sure I actually recover properly during those first few days so things aren't harder later...
I can already see the look on my husband's face when I pitch this to him...
Linda Ward312 said:So, I’m at this big family get-together today... and of course, the comments start flying immediately. "Wow, you got a little thick, didn't you?" "How are you doing, fatty?" Seriously, is there really nothing better to say to a pregnant woman? And here I was, feeling myself, all dressed up and wearing my favorite 😉....
Meanwhile, everyone else looks like they just rolled out of bed—total messes with overgrown hair, and honestly, half of them look like they haven't seen a dentist in years 😁,....
I swear, I was about two seconds away from telling the whole lot of them to just go jump in a lake! :2up:
To top it all off, they were whining about when we were finally leaving, after I’d already spent two hours stuck on some hard wooden bench surrounded by a cloud of smoke from all the smokers 😠

What a bunch of losers 🤦
Good for you, micek—I wouldn't have stuck around that long if I were you. As soon as that first cigarette lit up, I'd be out of there. People can think whatever they want about me; I don't give a damn what they think.
Jeremy Thomas5 said:It honestly drives me crazy because he just isn't being supportive at all.

I suppose I’ve just become a bore to him; he thinks I’m completely obsessed since all I ever talk about is this pregnancy... and then he just shuts down and refuses to listen.🤷
Then, my friend drops by—someone who also knows absolutely nothing about babies or parenting—and she throws out some random comment. It doesn't even matter what it is. Maybe it's actually decent advice, but he hangs on her every word like it's the most fascinating thing he's ever heard.😠
I swear, I'd love to just kick them both out of the house.🙂
The whole situation is just so frustrating...

Same here!!! 🙏 🙏 🙏
God help me.
My friends who actually have kids, books that matter, my aunt who works in pharmacy... nope. Instead, he’s listening to some story from his mom's cousin's neighbor's daughter's mother-in-law's godmother... 🙄
It makes me want to scream!
Right now, I'm just scrolling through strollers on Axelrod's site and enjoying the peace. Heard some good things about Jane, so I might just drop one of those right in front of him. :P
Brenda Bishop2, I feel you. I’ve been watching this show lately, and man—my guy is already getting under my skin. It’s not even that he’s wrong about strollers, it’s just that he doesn't have a single clue about anything. So, the other day, he runs into an old elementary school friend he hasn't seen in like 20 years. They’re catching up, she happens to have a stroller and another baby with her, and she mentions how the Peg Perego was a bit too narrow for her kid. God knows what the woman actually said or which specific model or age group she was talking about 🙄
. Then yesterday, I bring up Peg Perego, and he goes, "Not that one." 😠
Like, seriously? Get outta here. You don't know what I'm talking about, you haven't seen it, you haven't lived it...
It drives me nuts when I hear something that stupid—he doesn't know the details, doesn't know who said it, yet he clings to it like his life depends on it
. I'll just find what I want and buy it myself. Who's even listening to him? 😳
Adam Evans62 said:I am losing my mind over this name! 😠

I have no idea why some of my relatives think it sounds Canadian—clearly, geography isn't their strong suit since they don't realize the Mississippi River is just a border between us and Canada 🙄

Like I said, I'm not changing it for anyone unless my husband turns out to be a brave enough man to actually hold my hand during labor (yeah, right—not happening)😛

I actually had my favorite girl's name "saved up" for years, waiting to give it to my little girl, my sweet 😍-Lola (we got her because I fell into a deep depression after being told we couldn't conceive naturally, so I gave the name to her immediately, and honestly, she feels like my actual child 😁)
Then I spent months trying to come up with a replacement and fell in love with UNA.

Best advice ever: don't tell a soul what the name is until the baby is born 👍

If I remember right, you mentioned your sweetheart is a big fan of the South? Why not just gift him a massive, framed map of the US? Let him try to figure out where Mississippi actually sits. 🤣
Don't let them grill you about the name—it's perfect!
I was waiting on a girl...up until this morning's ultrasound... 🤷...now we're just waiting on Andrew. 😳
Adam Evans62 said:Stupid reasons. It’s actually embarrassing to even bring this up because half my family turned out to be total nationalists. 🙄

To them—not everyone, most people just stayed quiet with shocked looks on their faces—that’s a Canadian, basically a Muslim name. 👎So what? What's it to you?
It feels like "certain people" would only be happy if my kid was named Joanna, Anna, or Mary. What can I even say? He’s from the South and I’m from the Midwest. Talk about a clash of cultures. 😛)

Look, I'm definitely not changing my name just because of their narrow-minded bullshit. The only way I’d even consider changing it is if MM actually grows some backbone and stands by me when things get real with the family. 😉 With my luck, they probably won't even like the name. Who knows whose name Frank actually is, anyway? I doubt it's even a typical American name. 🤷)

😲
First off, you hit the nail on the head—who cares?
Second, maybe tell them to actually pick up a book once in a while... ☕
It's Middle Eastern? Please. Ever heard of Latin? God, some people are just clueless...
Given how they're acting, I totally get why they're into Frank. Honestly, I have no clue where the name even comes from or its roots; probably just a derivative of Francis or San Francisco or something along those lines... Personally, I can't stand it—not even because of the name itself, but because I know this one obnoxious, insufferable girl who carries it...
Adam Evans62 said:My blood pressure is through the roof today. 😠 😠
We finally settled on a name and updated everyone who asked (not to mention dealing with a ton of backlash 👎), but now he’s second-guessing everything again. He wants it to be "his suggestion" after all. 🙄

I think the negative feedback from his family and a few "friends" really got to him... 👎

So now we have a deal: he can have "his" name if he stays by my side in the delivery room from start to finish (unless they kick him out or the whole thing falls apart 🙄). Up until now, he refused to even consider coming with me.

There was no way I was agreeing to anything unless "his" name was fine too (Frank), but honestly, I doubt he'll actually show up. Once the drama starts, he'll be out the door running 😁
At the end of the day, there's a 99% chance I'm having a girl, but this constant indecision and breaking of our agreements is driving me insane. 🙂

Adam Evans62, don't let them get to you. If I'm lucky enough to have a girl too, we'll have two little United Nationses 😍
It's one of the most beautiful names out there. For what it's worth, nobody said a single bad word to us (and frankly, I wouldn't care if they did ☕); why are your relatives and friends acting like such jerks? 😢
Even if I wasn't pregnant, this would be driving me nuts: I lost an earring. Now I'm staring at the site for Križek wondering if I should just order a single replacement or bite the bullet and buy a whole new pair—because they're gorgeous and, frankly, pricey. But seriously, when does that price tag hit over $1000? Is that even legal?? 😠
I remember them being way cheaper than that...
My OB-GYN is such a hypochondriac. She’s sending me for tests that half my pregnant friends haven't even heard of.
Stupid question: "Wait, is the baby alive yet?"🙄
She’s alive—thanks for asking—been for a while now. I mean, last time I checked, corpses don't exactly have beating hearts or dividing cells.
If you want to ask which week or month I'm in, whether it's moved past the embryo stage to a fetus, or if we're through that first "critical" window... maybe try doing a quick Google search first instead of just talking nonsense.😠
