Two questions together just drive me absolutely insane: "How are you? Are you gaining weight?" It’s like—yeah, obviously. You're pregnant. You aren't exactly doing anything else besides expanding like sourdough starter; nothing else can be good, bad, or even a "change" except for the number on the scale going up. 😠
I totally botched it. She pulled her makeup bag out from under the table—it was wobbling, clearly about to go flying—and instead of just letting it land, I played the idiot and tried to wave my hand to catch it. Big mistake. Of course the damn thing still fell, but on its way down, it ripped my thumb nail right off. It's bleeding everywhere. God, it hurts so much at 3pm. 🙂
Honestly, I’m already totally fed up with all the unsolicited "expert" advice from everyone around me—I’ve decided I’m only listening to actual doctors. If I absolutely have to deal with family, I might listen to my aunt first, mostly because she actually works in a field where she knows what she's talking about, even if she hasn't had kids. But that whole "you haven't raised a kid, so you can't talk" logic? It gives me the runs faster than Donatello.
The in-laws teamed up last night. Total tag-team effort. 🙄 I was bracing myself for the Treaty of Kiel, but surprisingly, we dodged that bullet. But here’s the real kicker—what kind of diapers am I supposed to use? Cloth? They said no. Honestly, I can't be bothered with all that extra work—disposables seem fine, maybe even better. Oh, sure, because that's "better." Doubtful. Not happening. Fine then... have it your way. You'll end up doing what you want anyway... though you're definitely going to need disposables at the hospital and for at least the first month regardless. 😕 What am I gonna need for the first month? Cloth ones? Are you kidding me?! Well, you HAVE to. It’s mandatory. Until your follow-up appointment, you absolutely have to use cloth exclusively. No other options allowed—zero. Just cloth. Don't even think about disposables. Just wait, they'll tell you at the maternity ward—they only use cloth there too (I'm just picturing the hospital staff running straight to the laundry room). 😕 Are we talking about that mandatory hip-healthy swaddling thing? : blank stare : Let me explain what I mean... Oh, right, and you don't have to do that with cloth? 🤦
Just my luck. The second I bring them up here, my husband asks if we can swing by his parents' place in twenty minutes. 🙂 Guess I'm going. Once we're back, I'll be sure to report exactly how many times my mother-in-law makes a comment about my weight. ☕
I'm done. Seriously, I am officially done reading this thread about amniocentesis... I can't take it anymore. 🙂 And honestly? It’s just exhausting when people can barely string a sentence together—kind of like that lady whose posts drive me up the wall.
Steven Barrett6, reading this makes my skin crawl. Honestly, I’ve gotta hand it to you—your patience and tolerance levels are insane. If it were me, I would’ve lost it a long time ago. I’d have already heard all that "concerned mother" nonsense: *I’m pregnant, so keep your runny nose and germs far away from me; kids are exhausting and poorly behaved, so finish raising them before you even think about visiting; you gave birth to them, so you deal with them (and seriously, what do you even do all day?!).* Just let people think whatever they want. It's simple: people like that will drain you of every last bit of energy, willpower, and cash you have if you just let them. And don't bother being nice—they won't get it. They're rude, selfish, and frankly, dim. You’ll end up looking like the villain, sure... but who cares what they think? It’s about WHO is doing the thinking, right? Why give their opinions any weight anyway?!
@Jeremy Thomas5, what, you haven't heard the rule that if you're young, you're legally forbidden from being tired? 🤣
Oh my god How many years am I looking at if I take out my husband? If it’s not too much, I might actually start planning the method. FINALLY the guy would be gone—God, between him and this stupid closet, I am losing my mind. Seriously, screw that closet too!!! 😠 😠 😠 😠 😠
Something gets under my skin every single day🤣 Honestly, if I wasn't pregnant, I’d probably be losing my mind over this whole circus surrounding the census. Seriously—as if it's some huge deal. It's just a census, for God's sake...
I just managed to piss myself off big time. I started tackling my closet—you know the drill, swapping out the winter gear for summer stuff, wiping down the shelves, hanging up some new Raid wipes and all that... God, I am such a DISASTER. Seriously, what kind of absolute vermin was I collecting all this junk for?!!?? I’m already dragging my third trash bag to the curb 🙂
Just got off a Skype call with a friend—she’s two months further along than me. - "Hey, you feeling the baby yet?" - "No." 😢 - "Still nothing? How far along are you now?" - "Hit my 20th week today." - "Whoa, okay, so you're pretty deep in it then... how is that possible?" 🙂 I swear, what is wrong with people? How can she just drop that on me first thing in the morning, knowing damn well I'm already stressed because I haven't felt a thing... 😠 Some people really need to learn some tact, seriously... 😢
It’s not even that they annoy me anymore—they’re driving me freaking insane. Heartburn from basically everything I touch. Plus my hair is a mess 😲—I’ve gone through like ten different clips in the last forty-eight hours alone. Since I couldn't find anything else useful, I ended up grabbing this random thing from Target and now I'm stuck wearing this monstrosity on my head. If it turns out to be some cheap green garbage, I might actually lose it. 😠
I am actually going to lose my mind. It’s been 19 weeks—full 19—and I still don't feel a single thing. Nothing. I’m losing it. I’m convinced I should’ve felt movement by now; all I can think about is whether something is wrong, and honestly? I just eat everything in sight. My next ultrasound isn't until April 4th, and I'm about ready to jump out of my skin waiting. Then there’s my husband, who makes it even better by telling me I’m worrying over nothing. 🤦 I was venting about all this today to a friend—she’s only at 7 weeks and has her scan tomorrow. Last time they checked, they could only see the yolk sac, and she’s already spiraling, terrified that tomorrow they won't see anything else, that everything just vanished, and there's no baby... 😢 The bottom line? We’ve both completely lost our minds. 😢
Michael Barrett11 said:😂😂 you're out of your mind!!!!
but just remember how that mother-in-law treats you when you eventually become a mother-in-law yourself, so you don't end up acting just like her.
This was basically my mantra during the ultrasound... 🤦 I’m gonna start putting money into a college fund the second they're born, then once they move out, they can figure out their own life and who they want to hang with. I’m staying out of it... (someone please remind me of this later)
Rebecca Vaughn7, hang in there... and don't listen to any of that nonsense—not even from your own mother. I know it sucks, but just try to tune everything out as much as you can. Besides, you can always come here to vent! It actually helps, trust me... I just happily crossed off another workday; didn't talk to a single soul from my husband's side of the family, so it was a win in my book. Meanwhile, my poor mother-in-law is probably sitting there hoping I'll end up looking like a tank after pregnancy, just like she did. And who knows, I'll probably lose half my teeth too—women in their forties are already losing half their gums... damn, if they actually brushed them once in a while, maybe they wouldn't be falling out... ☕
So, last night... my mother-in-law. We were out at the family farm, stopped by for coffee afterward. A few weeks back, MM took some of my old clothes down there—stuff I don't wear much anymore but is still in great shape—to give to my goddaughter. So yeah, I do this REGULARLY. And immediately, the old hag hits me with this - "Hey, Anthony Watson35, can I give those girls that jacket of yours down there and those few shirts? I looked at them, though everything seems a little small... and since you've put on some weight lately, there's no way you're ever fitting into them again." 😠 What an absolute nightmare of a woman!!! First off, I send them clothes CONSTANTLY, so this isn't some special thing because of the pregnancy. Second, I could still fit into all of it perfectly—I've only gained like four pounds. Third, if my stuff is even down there, it's obviously for them; it's not like I'm building up a wardrobe in the middle of nowhere. 😠 Honestly, I completely froze. I couldn't find a way to shut her down gracefully, so I just said—"Yeah, sure, it's for them. Why else would my clothes be down there?"
The only thing that ticked me off yesterday was my boss—an absolute, bitter, hypocritical piece of work. Thank God I won't have to deal with her much longer...
