Spinning classes in NYC in Hobbies & Leisure ·
Man, you know, it never even crossed my mind that they could just swap in a different word like that. I really didn't see it coming. Thanks, 🙂

So, I was doing a little digging online and the only thing that popped up was that MSFT gym over in rural areas, and they do have spinning classes, but their schedule is just... not working for me at all.

Does anyone know of any other spots or maybe have a recommendation?

The FBI's posts have been sanctioned, and they've been given a formal warning. Thanks for the link, by the way—I’ll definitely be keeping a closer eye on this thread from now on.

Thanks for flagging this post. I'll take a look right away and, if it's necessary, I'll issue a sanction.

As for the rest of it, the girl doesn't need a lawyer—so, honestly, this isn't really about your specific post or any kind of penalty for it. I already laid out my reasoning for you earlier, but look, if the admin agrees that the strike was unfair, then I'm more than happy to just wipe it away.

You got flagged because you tried to hide an insult behind those little asterisks.

As for any claims about illegal deception—look, if I missed something, I’m sorry. If you can point me toward the specific post, I'll take action right away.
Honestly, I don't even know who you are, and I definitely don't have some weird vendetta against you. I'm just trying to keep these discussions on track.

And sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I was traveling home and couldn't get a decent internet connection.

I laid out my whole point again today over in the Canada thread, and honestly, that’s where I’m leaving it for now.
If things don't start moving along, maybe we can try a different angle later on.
Canada discussion: Strict border control and entry rules in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I could, but I’m not going to. There’s honestly just no point in arguing when we’ve all already reached the same conclusion. Look, I feel bad if this doesn't sit right with you personally, but it works for everyone else, and that’s how it's staying.
Maybe you think I'm being rude, but I don't think it's okay for you to be snappy with me, especially since you don't even know me. I've been trying for ages to make the threads on this forum easier to navigate and help everyone stay happy, but let's face it—you can't please everybody.

Believe me, the moderators aren't just sitting around at home dreaming up ways to make people's lives miserable. It’s not that I haven't had the time; it’s just that I don't see any reason to keep explaining things that ambermason16, rustydrifter10, and I have already made crystal clear.

As far as I'm concerned, this topic is closed.

So, just to be clear—I really appreciate you putting in the effort and sharing those links, I truly do; but the core of the issue hasn't changed.

Look, if you’re going to quote someone, please just quote the whole thing. It’s like trying to understand a movie by watching a five-second clip—your point doesn't really hold water unless we see the full context. Until then, the decision stays unanimous.

There’s already a thread over there with all the links and responses.

urbangardener said:I mean, I totally get it, and honestly, it’s true that about 95% of what gets asked here has already been answered, which makes repeating it feel pretty pointless...

But seriously, could someone just clarify one thing for me... if someone actually comes along with a legit, brand-new question—like maybe regarding some recent change to visa regulations or something similar—where are they even supposed to go to ask that?

It’s been months, maybe even years, that I haven't seen a single fresh question that hasn't already been answered in one of the last three threads. Or, if it's something really specific, you could just call the Embassy and talk to someone who actually works there.

If anyone ever does run into a real curveball, feel free to just drop it in the thread for the diaspora living in New York City.

Alright, I went ahead and updated the clarification in the very first post, so hopefully everything should be crystal clear now regarding what this thread is actually about.

Just a heads-up for everyone: any users on this or any other thread in the diaspora section who start nitpicking the moderators or whining about "dictatorships" are going to get hit with instant warnings. If you just need to vent or blow off steam, go use the PZK.

Thanks, brightpuma. I’m glad you actually get the point of this thread and why we're doing it this way.

The discussion thread for the American diaspora living in Canada is officially open now that we've gathered all the useful links into one master topic. We had to shut down the others because they just turned into endless arguments and those repetitive "how do I move to Canada" questions that everyone keeps complaining about on the forum.

On top of that, you get a ton of people popping up with questions they could solve in a single click on Google or just by giving the Canadian Embassy a quick call.

After weighing all our options for a long time, ambermason16 and I decided this was the best way to handle things, and so far, it’s been working pretty smoothly without much drama.

Today's warnings were handed out after people started nitpicking the moderators again (here we go AGAIN) and drifting off-topic. I've mentioned several times before that this kind of thing isn't allowed, and if anyone has an issue, there's a PDF specifically for appeals, so the warnings shouldn't really come as a shock.

I hope that clears things up enough, and I don't really see any need to keep debating this.

That warning about the mimosa was actually aimed at those comments about "Americans," not me.

I don't want to sound biased, because I really am trying my best to tackle every issue the second it pops up. Life just got a little chaotic on my end over the last few months, so keeping up with every single thread hasn't been easy.
Honestly, I actually appreciate it when people send me a private message to let me know if I missed something. At the end of the day, this forum is a community, and we're all in this together.

Unfortunately, Vilko hasn't really taken anything to heart. We had a private discussion about him coming back, and the decision was made that he won't be returning.
Look, I get it—he’s a great source of info and he genuinely wants to help. But flooding threads with massive walls of text that have nothing to do with the topic, throwing out provocations, trolling, and just straight-up spamming? That's where I have to draw the line. Even after several warnings, nothing changed. There's nothing more I can do there, and I truly am sorry about that.

Sorry I missed that post, I’ll go ahead and take care of the sanctions right now. Thanks for flagging it.

Look, I’ve already made my stance clear on this whole issue.
The post from Mimosa didn't even touch on the actual topic; it was just a personal jab at me and the fact that she's living out in Los Angeles, so honestly, it was just total off-topic noise.
I feel bad if you guys don't appreciate me trying to keep everyone on track and making sure we actually stick to the point so things stay organized.
It’s funny how there's always some kind of drama involving people in Australia, isn't it?
Anyway, I really hope we can all work together better moving forward. I'm totally open to constructive criticism and I'll definitely start using it to improve how I handle things here.
Thanks to everyone who reached out.
IRS Moderator in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Actually, no, because even though you signed up a month ago, you clearly didn't take the time to actually read the rules.
If I already gave you a heads-up about staying on topic and not leaning on DMs or FEMA, and you’re still pushing it, then yeah, that’s a warning card situation.

I don't need a lawyer here. ambermason16 just happened to be around before me, but Mimosa also totally called out my work, and it was pretty obvious in that post. Objectively speaking, deleting this and handing out a penalty is the same thing I'd do if someone else did it to you.

The whole thread is supposed to be about Australia, not about me personally. I asked a few times for everyone to stop making it about me, but since people wouldn't drop it, I had to step in.
I delete off-topic posts. This Australia thread is huge as it is, and when people coming from outside are looking for info, they don't need five pages of useless spam cluttering everything up.

ambermason16 used to be a moderator for the expatriate community for a long time, so she really knows her way around some of the regulars here. She’s always happy to step in and help out if I’m away or just can't get to the moderation duties myself.
IRS Moderator in Feedback & Suggestions ·
So, ambermason16 already mentioned this, but regarding whether I’m being fair or not—look, I always try to give everyone a heads-up via a post before I actually hand out a ban.
I rarely hand out red cards, but I felt forced to step in after warning you all to stop the flame wars and get back to discussing the topic about Australia.
Since you didn't listen and kept attacking my moderation—with some users (like Mimosa) insulting me directly while the rest of you just cheered them on—I had no choice but to issue the red card.
It isn't even about me personally; I’d hand out a red card if anyone else here was being insulted too, which I’ve definitely done in the past.

It’s funny how it’s always the exact same group complaining, and usually, it's the same group that refuses to follow the rules.
I really hope we don't see another outburst like this, and that we can all just get back to having good conversations in the expatriate community.

We already have a thread dedicated to engineers, so there’s really no need for a new one.

People actually told me themselves how much it bugs them when we ask about their chances—it’s like, even when we’re trying to step up and help, we’re still the bad guys.

The banning in Australia happened because certain individuals kept breaking the rules after being warned a few times, and that was all decided alongside the admin and the mod team.
It’s impossible to please every single person in the diaspora.

Regarding the general discussion topics, I’ll be working on those over the next few weeks, but just a heads-up: we aren't going to allow duplicate threads, so please just stick to the ones that are already here.
There won't be a separate chat thread, and there's honestly no reason to go looking for one.
