granitemason8 said:Is this some universal craving for dominance, or is it just specifically targeted at a particular victim? Like, when a predator actually corners someone, why is the goal to exert that absolute control over *that* specific person instead of, say, someone they just passed on the sidewalk fifteen minutes earlier? What is it that makes a potential target stand out in their twisted mind?

There are actually several people in the world who live this way.
I recently read about a woman in Germany who has lived at an airport in Spain—I believe it was Tenerife—for nearly 15 years. She even has a cat there. The cat only leaves the terminal building to use the bathroom 😁 and then returns inside 🙂. She carries just a few backpacks with her belongings. She uses the airport WC to wash up, and the staff brings her food and coffee.
The Tom Hanks movie mentioned above was also based on a true story. It was inspired by a man who lived in an airport in the USA for about eight years. There was an issue with his paperwork. They could not let him enter the USA—meaning he couldn't leave the terminal—but they had no legal right to deport him or send him back. He preferred staying there over returning to his home country. He washed up in the WC, slept on benches, and became friends with the airport staff.

Yeah, I mean, it’s pretty obvious there are only two ways to go here: either we start running ads across the Forum, or,
we just set up a subscription model and kill the ads entirely.
I mean, how else do you think a site like this—or the people running it—actually stays afloat? You think it runs on good vibes from the users? Donations? Or are we all supposed to just pay for the server costs out of our own pockets?

I mean, seriously... who is actually this clueless? Just open Google, type in a few words, and find the answer yourself. If you want to complain about ads, why don't you just pay for the ad-free version? That's literally how the whole site stays running—those ads are what fund the entire staff and keep this place alive.☕
