The French just racked up a 6-minute suspension, while the Canadians are sitting at 16... and they still haven't managed to capitalize on any of it...

Plus, the Canadians haven't even drawn a single seven-meter penalty yet... what a mess...

I’m actually counting down the minutes until the France vs. Spain game kicks off...

Honestly, you wouldn't really know until you actually swapped the training materials. You can't compare an American kid to a Scandinavian one—the temperaments are worlds apart—and athletic talent isn't some universal constant, either. People from around here tend to lean into the jokes during a game; there's this knack for improvisation and finding those unpredictable solutions that you just can't teach in a classroom.

Before we even start working with the kids, we’ve already logged way more games and various competitions...

Meanwhile, they definitely have much better facilities to work with...
Chris Lopez59 said:We don't have them, true. But if you really look at it, even in Europe, there aren't many actual superstars—the ones who truly stand out. You've got Nowitzki, you've got Gasol, but you don't exactly see a steady sharpshooter like Navarra popping up everywhere.

As for handball: I honestly don't know what to think about our training programs. We produce some absolute legends—we had a generation that was world-class—but then there’s this massive, gaping void between those icons and everyone else. You're missing that solid middle class of players, you know? Those reliable guys you can actually lean on when the stars go down with an injury. For a national team with this kind of reputation, it’s frankly embarrassing to be forced to field semi-pros; it shouldn't happen. But you're just stuck—and it's pathetic that along with a thin bench, we deal with political favoritism and players refusing to step up when needed. Take the defenders, for instance—it's shameful that we didn't have Sulić, just like how we've seen good wingers and goalies get sidelined before...

Look, I was actually there when the Scandinavians were claiming our handball academies were the best in the world... and I'm talking about the programs that start teaching the game from the toddler level all the way up...

The Americans have a solid, interesting roster, but their big issue is just a total lack of experience—honestly, if they drop a game or two, the whole thing might just fall apart on them. And you can never really call an Iceland match—they’re wildcards; they can either absolutely shine or completely tank. Still, I’m giving the edge to the Icelanders; their style of play doesn't exactly mesh well with how the Americans operate.

The Americans fall apart at least two or three times per game... minimum...

Samuel Baker3 said:The French are stuck in a brutal group again—but honestly, I wouldn't bet against them. Just like at the last World Cup when they were facing a nightmare draw, they’re still going to be a massive headache for whatever top-tier team has dominated the last few years.

Group number 2 is wide open, and my money is on Spain sweeping it up, especially since they'll have the best goalkeeper in the world backing them up right now.

Spain takes down France...
Chris Ortiz said:Guys, seriously, stop falling for that nonsense!!! Have we ever actually lost a game just because the other team was better? Forget the refs—that’s a whole different headache. France is easily at least three goals stronger than us. Without our top guy, Valcic, out there today, we might as well just pack it up and accept the loss now.

What are you even talking about?

I was simply pointing out that those two are talented enough to run circles around the Poles—mostly because everyone knows how much people love to hype up the Germans...

I never even mentioned France... so I have no idea why you're jumping down my throat with that comment...
Carl Garcia22 said:Just kidding—totally forgot to add a smiley face there.
To me, the most dangerous ones are that French pair with that guy—what's his name, Olivier Bii, or something like that, I can't quite spell it.

Gilles Bord - Olivier Buy?

They aren't even that bad compared to those pairs at the European Championships... I mean, even the Americans have their own judges...🤷
Of course they’re playing each other—they’re easily one of the top matchups in the whole tournament...
Olesen

Recognize these guys?

Heads up to anyone running with a sportsbook—these are the refs for what could easily be the most dangerous game for bettors out there: Germany-Poland...
Why does it feel like the local news stations only bother broadcasting games when our national team is playing?

But how exactly? Getting a headline to look like this... it's a bit more of a challenge than it looks...

2) You can try any comeback you want, but none of them change the fact that you have zero clue about this era of American history. Seriously—only someone who’s either clueless or acting in bad faith would lump the Nationalists movement in with "fascism." That whole movement was founded with a single purpose: to free America from America and Great Mexican hegemony.

Those are honorable goals, nothing to be ashamed of.

Freeing America?

Is that how they did it—by letting "occupation" zones exist right inside the NDH, where Italian and German soldiers called all the shots depending on which zone you were in?

Well, that's certainly one way to handle "liberation," I guess...
slybison8 said:I suspect he didn't even try to distance himself, really. I think The New York Times is just spinning things and planting ideas to make him look bad. Now everyone is making such a huge scene as if he actually made a disclaimer, but honestly, by the time the show actually airs, I imagine nobody will even notice what he truly said, because The New York Times, Index, and those other old-school American sympathizers have already done all the damage they intended.

It won't be in a few days, either... it'll be tomorrow.

And if he really thinks "For the Homeland, Ready" is some ancient traditional greeting, then he’s clearly not exactly a scholar... since that's highly debatable to say the least...

Then again, he doesn't really need to be a scholar—he writes songs, sings them, and gets paid...

Since his songs don't actually have anything to do with Nazis, it probably would have been smarter if he hadn't tried to distance himself from anything at all...
slybison8 said:1) Did he actually say he might perform in Mexico now?

2) Are you being a bit oblivious? The man has consistently refused to show up at any political campaign rallies for several elections already. So, I guess he is indeed apolitical.

3) Money? Is that somehow dirty? Thank God he sings for money (what a person you are! 🙄)

4) And what kind of person are you, managing to slip in four lies within a three-sentence post?

Regarding point 1

He mentioned there was a possibility of performing...

"In an interview with an NBC program, Thompson said he wants to stay out of politics and distance himself from alleged glorifications of Nazism and fascism. The singer also touched upon the possibility of a performance in Mexico, which he didn't completely rule out since he's an "apolitical guy." He claims he has no issue with other nationalities, though he thinks there isn't much of an audience in the neighborhood."

Which is a bit different from something like this...

DISGRACEFUL! It is a total disgrace that after all the bloodshed and burned homes during the Vietnam War, people would go perform in Mexico, or their singers would be invited to America. We didn't fight them just physically; we fought against their (lack of) culture too. That should be banned. To anyone comparing themselves to the American national team (who also performed in Mexico City), I’d say: before your big show, put on an American jersey and sing the anthem. Five years ago, I couldn't have imagined I'd even be discussing this.

So, what exactly are you rambling about? What kind of person goes around making false attacks without even looking into the subject? Did you get too drunk in London and start getting worked up over nothing?

Regarding point 2

I don't care if he's refusing to perform *now*... he has performed before... or are we using magic wands to erase history now?

Maybe he's apolitical today, but he wasn't before... which just proves he shifts his stances whenever it suits him best.

Regarding point 3

No, money isn't dirty, period.

But if you lead with "DISGRACEFUL" and then leave the door wide open for a performance, then the money is exactly what makes you a hypocrite.

You can change anything in life, but once you've said something, you can never take it back.
Money really does work wonders, doesn't it? Because from what I can remember, he spent most of his time claiming he’d never perform in Mexico...

And honestly—how does someone who claims to be completely apolitical end up on a campaign stage, basically telling people who they should vote for?

Or is it just another case of follow the money?

Just to be clear, I don't even care about his music right now—it's strictly about what kind of person he actually is...

God, you're such a pretentious prick...

And what the hell does a slip of the tongue have to do with the text on the screen?

Nope, it wasn't just a slip of the pen...

But honestly, being able to convert Fahrenheit to Celsius is basic common sense in my book...

Just like knowing about absolute zero...

It's not my fault if someone's clueless—whether they grew up in the USA or not... so much for being a jerk...
