Eckankar is the religion of Light and Sound of God.
So, writing about this falls under Religion, not just general spirituality.
In Eckankar, we chant the ancient, sacred name of God, HU. It’s both a love song and a prayer to God. (You can see this in the "What is Eckankar?" thread, which the moderator moved to Spirituality, even though every religion exists to enrich and properly guide a person's spiritual growth.

Everyone is searching for something that meets their current spiritual needs for personal growth. A lot of people have had experiences with lucid dreaming, meaningful coincidences, or meeting spiritual teachers—both in dreams and while awake. They encounter Light and Sound, which are truly spiritual in nature, and often feel an intense sense of love or bliss. Usually, these folks aren't interested in the history of organized religion. They just want to discover the truth through their own direct experience.
Eckankar offers this exact path, providing a way to gain deeper insight and verify everything being taught through personal experience. The easiest way to achieve this is by practicing a daily spiritual exercise: chanting the sacred, ancient name of God - HU.
If you're interested, you can hear what chanting HU sounds like. You can practice it regardless of whether you belong to a specific religion or none at all.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7h-U...&feature=email
This world has room for everyone. There are people who love to swear and indulge in it, and then there are those who’ve realized they need to cut profanity out of their lives entirely.
I don't judge the first group. But swearing shouldn't be mistaken for a greater sense of freedom. Real freedom requires much more responsibility.
Choosing not to swear isn't about following strict religious rules. Swearing doesn't hurt God. It might bother the people around us, sure, but the person we actually hurt most is ourselves.
Swearing is a negative habit. It shows you're a slave to your own mental programming. Think of the mind like a field where you plant seeds. If you fill it with weeds, there's no room left for actual crops.
It limits our ability to think freely and understand life on a deeper level. Our consciousness becomes narrow and dark. Consciousness is a spiritual category, not an intellectual one. We are Souls.
Here are a few examples:
A few years back, I was sitting in a park reading when a woman sat down next to me. Our conversation drifted toward spirituality.
She started telling me a story. "I don't know why," she said, "but I feel this intense urge to tell you about a dream I had a long time ago." I knew exactly what was happening. I had already finished my own research into spiritual growth. "I've never told anyone this dream," she continued. "I had it when my son was just a baby, and he's about your age now.
In the dream, a saint appeared to me and said, 'Stop using foul language, or I will take away what you hold most dear.' Later that day, my child turned pale and stopped eating. I didn't make the connection then. The dream came again the next night, and by the next day, the child had turned a grayish-blue color. It looked like he wouldn't survive. Only then did I remember the dreams from the previous two nights. I stopped the swearing immediately. The child's color returned, his vital signs normalized, and he started asking for food again.
Since then, I haven't used a single negative word, and I carry an image of that saint in my wallet."
I explained to her that it wasn't necessarily some saint, but rather the omnipresent and all-knowing Holy Spirit taking a form to deliver a necessary lesson. It was meant to prevent her from stalling her own spiritual progress—the very reason she was born.
Another young woman told me she struggled with ear infections since she was a little girl. She tried every doctor and specialist in the country, but nothing worked. Until she decided to try a spiritual exercise and pray for help...
During the night, she was told to write down every negative thing she hears from others on one side of a paper, and every negative thing she says herself on the other.
She understood the point. She stopped the swearing and the negativity, and her ears healed. She was cured.
Profanity, like many other negative habits, holds us back from our spiritual expansion. It stops us from reaching the purpose for which we were born. We can't find true happiness or deep understanding of life if we stay stuck in these patterns....
When we look at this world and try to make sense of it, we all see what we see based on our own level of consciousness. Some people will look out and see nothing but pure suffering... while others will see nothing but pure love.
Regardless, none of us sees the whole truth. Our perspective shifts as our internal awareness evolves, even if the world itself stays exactly the same.
Since an individual's consciousness changes through experience over time, our conclusions would change too—or we'd just be stuck—if our awareness remained static.
As an individual's consciousness shifts, it means love has seeped into their heart, and that automatically changes the world around them.
The only constant in this life is change, flowing according to perfect laws.
Reincarnation is the core essence of existence. You can't claim to truly understand life if you ignore that fact.
Living with integrity and responsibility is the only way to go.
It isn’t about following some moral code imposed on us. It’s about the job we have to do ourselves: building ourselves into something higher, more noble, and more accountable. Life actually has meaning, purpose, and a goal. And you only really grasp that purpose if you live an ethical, responsible life.
That sense of inner satisfaction you get from doing something selfless? That’s just a tiny hint of something much bigger we’re all working toward.
Sure, the path of honesty is grueling. It’s hard work. But once you understand why, you won’t regret the struggle or the pain, whether it’s your own or someone else's.
Still, we shouldn't forget that people often take "responsibility" too far. Sometimes, people think being good means sacrificing things they absolutely need just to save others.
Nobody can truly answer these questions while ignoring the reality of reincarnation.
Reaching your life's goal is a long, tough climb. But it pays off—especially if you stay honorable. Don't follow the crowd or what society pushes on you. Follow your own internal compass and your natural sense of ethics.
We’re shaped most intensely by what happens to us before we even hit five or seven years old. It isn't about the advice our parents give us. It's about the actual example they set through their behavior and attitude. Still, anyone who enters this life with enough spiritual maturity can outgrow those early imprints. You can rebuild yourself and correct the course.
It's worth reading the book, on The Breath of The Gods.

Why bother acting smart or making up some personal version of "truth" when the truth is right there in front of us. It was revealed through someone who provided perfect wisdom and teachings that are easy to grasp—but only for those with an honest heart. For a heart like that, the truth just sticks! 🙂 ?? All we have to do is accept it and embrace it!!! Honestly, one wise and perfect man, even though he was rejected by many, once said: I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the father except through me (Jesus Christ). Why is that so hard to swallow?? Who does it bother so much, and what part is unclear that everyone feels entitled to invent their own version of a shared truth??? Maybe it's just to impress others with how much they know?? Or maybe people are just disappointed in those meant to carry the message??? Or what?? Truth can only be one thing. It’s simple. You don't need a PhD to find it!!! Without truth, there is no real path, and without the right path, there is no life!!! 😉 Btw, I'm not claiming these words as my own. I realized this while studying the life of Jesus Christ!! 🙂 + On our own, with our limited abilities, we can't truly know God or the truth about ourselves. We need humility, heart, and the spirit of wisdom that God provides!!! 🙂 Your forum friend wearyrider16!!! 👍
wearyrider16,
I'd say the greatest thing a person can find is whatever satisfies their spiritual needs. It might be a certain holy book, some teachings from the East or the West, or even science. Whatever resonates with you is your next step in spiritual growth. It doesn't matter if everyone else thinks it's pointless, unimportant, or just too far out of reach. It's about what works for you.
Look, we have to face facts. Everyone deserves to pursue whatever serves them best right now. It’s simple. Whether it's tomorrow or in some next life, we're all going to keep searching for something new to help us grow.
That process takes forever for every single one of us. It drags on until we finally reach enough spiritual maturity to actually face the Truth of life.
I’d say everyone needs their own space. Everyone needs the freedom to grow at their own pace.
Look at the verses from the Bible. "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me!"
I’m not a follower of the Bible or any religion that claims to hold the "holy book." But I’ll say this: these verses represent a truth that existed from the dawn of time and will remain until the very end. Still, something vital is missing here. You have to understand that Jesus was a man who reached a high state of consciousness known as Christ. He wasn't speaking from a human perspective. He was speaking from the one called Christ, or God-Consciousness. When you look at it that way, these verses take on a completely different dimension: "I, the high consciousness or God-Consciousness (Christ Consciousness), am your way, your truth, and your life." And "No one can reach the Father except through me, the God-Consciousness."
It all points to one thing: you have to follow the highest state of being, God-Consciousness. You have to reach it. That’s the only way to get back to the Creator, to God. Since consciousness is a spiritual matter rather than an intellectual one, simply reading some holy book isn't going to lift you up to that high level of awareness. It won't lead you to God, and it certainly won't provide that sense of happiness, wisdom, or spiritual freedom we're all searching for.
A lot of people believe the Bible is the Word of God. But let’s think about this. That same Bible contains verses stating that in the beginning, there was the Word through which God created everything. Was that the Bible? Or was it something that existed long before the Bible?
No way!
The Word, or the logos—it's just another name for the Holy Spirit. It’s the medium through which God created everything that exists.
The Bible says it clearly: "Whoever listens to the Word of God will never die." To me, that means anyone who establishes a connection with the Holy Spirit—the Word of God—undergoes a purification process. Their consciousness begins to rise toward that ultimate goal: God-Consciousness. The Holy Spirit is like that Living Water Jesus offered the woman at the well instead of just plain water. Once you experience that Holy Water, you aren't thirsty for water anymore. You become thirsty for the highest truth.
At the end of the day, everyone just needs to enjoy whatever works best for them right now.wearyowl29 said:That's great for you👍 but honestly? You've just embraced one specific version of "truth" because it happens to fit your own personal criteria perfectly. It’s easy when things align! But others don't see it that way. They don't have that ready-made humble heart to just accept an answer; instead, they're out there searching, clawing through life with nothing but their bare teeth...
Truth just has infinite levels. We all exist at whatever level we've managed to reach.mellowangler59 said:Spirit directs spirit, the psyche, and the mind. Matter just moves matter.
The problem with matter is that it pushes us toward sin. That's why after death, the souls of those who lived wickedly either rise to heaven or find themselves reincarnated back into a physical body.
Once we pass away, you either become an eternal spirit in heaven or you're reborn into a new body through reincarnation. Deep down, all matter carries this primal seed of evil, which is why temptation and sin exist in the first place.
A person truly breaks free from sin only when they die and release their spirit from the bondage of the flesh.
The Almighty God of Good decides whether that spirit will be reborn into a body or ascend to become an eternal spirit in heaven.
The Spirit (holy spirit) or the Word of God is the creator of everything. In the lower realms, everything functions according to the laws set by the Spirit.
Matter isn't inherently good or evil. It all depends on the person—on their state of consciousness—and how they choose to use that matter, whether positively, negatively, or neutrally...
Zachary Mendoza2 said:We consider humans more intelligent than animals, possessing mental capacities far beyond them. Speech, abstract reasoning, technology—these define us. At times, it feels as though we have grabbed fate by the reins, establishing ourselves as a unique species: creators and rulers over nature.
Conversely, psychology views the human psyche through two lenses: genetic inheritance and learned behavior.
Regarding learning, we acquire knowledge through experience, meaning we absorb whatever we encounter.
In this context, I want to introduce the concept of "original thought," which I will attempt to clarify, as it is something I am curious about.
Unlike simply adopting what already exists, true insights occasionally emerge. These are breakthroughs like mastering fire, or the use of tools and weaponry. The first person to conceive of such things could not have observed them beforehand. It was not programmed into their genes. They simply thought, and they realized. They did not copy an existing insight; they created a new one. I would argue that such moments are what make us creators. Without them, we are merely blank slates upon which the environment can write anything, potentially leading to total indoctrination (Goebel's successes serve as a known example supporting this view).
Now, I am interested in this human creativity we take such pride in. Truly, we enjoy countless blessings today—the fruits of human genius—and we can trace their development through written history over the last few millennia. Writing allowed us to accumulate all this progress across generations, moving from very simple lives to our modern era in just a few thousand years. One might assume humans are highly capable of "original thought" given how much has been achieved in such a short span.
However, if we expand the timeline to several million years since the first human appeared, we see that over those millions of years, humans did not invent fire, weapons, agriculture, or anything else that significantly improved life 😕
There were thousands upon thousands of generations of people born, living, and dying without anyone ever conceiving of anything new. 😕
Based on this, one might say that humans are actually quite incapable of "original thought." Indeed, looking back at recorded history, the knowledge that accumulates is largely learned through experience; "original thought" is only required when creating entirely new knowledge, which is relatively rare considering the number of people and the length of their lifespans.
This is what puzzles me—how capable is a human, truly, of creating or independently gaining new insights? Currently, I have the impression that we are not particularly gifted in this ability. Even my own life experiences suggest that most people are simply dullards who lack the capacity for independent thought. 👎
I might be stepping outside of psychology here. But here it is:
It’s best to view a person as consciousness in a constant state of maturing or expanding. A consciousness that grows through life experiences, slowly recognizing new needs and possibilities.
I won't beat around the bush. I'll be direct. Mendeleev brought the periodic table to life because he saw it in his dreams. That system was refined later.
The question is: Who gave it to him, and how?
Kekile had a vision of a snake swallowing its own tail. That gave him the idea that the benzene molecule has a ring structure—which is true.
Again, the question remains: Who gave him that vision?
The inventor of the photocopier experimented with countless powders and failed every single time until one day he heard a voice: Try graphite powder! He tried it and succeeded.
Who whispered that solution to him?
Tesla had visions that he simply materialized in this world.
Who gave him those visions, and from where?
Do I even need to mention the composer who, despite being deaf, heard the most magnificent music, which he then transcribed to leave behind something to uplift and inspire humanity?
How did a deaf man hear music?
There are endless examples like this.
If we want to see the truth without exhausting ourselves, we have to realize that a human is primarily a spiritual being. A Soul. As such, it is a multidimensional being. Because of that, depending on their level of consciousness, they can simply bring down new knowledge from higher levels of reality into all areas of life. Quite simply, a person doesn't invent anything out of thin air; they just bring it down from higher realities.
Most people fail to understand their own spiritual growth. They try to find balance between masculine and feminine energies in the world around them instead of within themselves. That's impossible.
Mutual respect between genders is vital, sure, but true equilibrium happens internally.
If you want to understand how to balance those internal flows, read The Breath of the Gods by Ariel. It’s an incredible book about gender dynamics and inner polarity. Once you finish it, I don't think anyone can look at themselves or others the same way again.
Yeah, quite a few people here have already touched on the markers of human consciousness evolution and how that shapes our internal ethics.
The whole issue stems from something we need to examine if we want to understand why humanity keeps making the same mistakes. It comes down to negative mental passions. Even with how much our awareness has evolved, we still lack any kind of organized education to help us recognize these patterns or teach us how to keep them in check. We're talking about greed, envy, attachment, vanity, and anger—though there are dozens more.
Real spiritual and ethical progress won't happen until we actually master those impulses.
wearyowl29 said:Truth seekers pour out their very souls, their lives, and everything they have just to catch a glimpse of it.
They scramble up mountains and tumble through valleys, doing whatever it takes to grasp it—weathering the dark nights and celebrating the bright mornings along the way.
Some will eventually find it, though never the whole thing, just a fragment. But honestly? Even a tiny sliver can be worth a fortune. Still...
Don't you get the feeling that Truth, with a capital T, isn't looking to be hunted down by everyone? It’s not like it wants to reveal its entire self to the masses, but rather chooses to show us one little piece at a time.
All those seekers, thinkers, and independent souls who push themselves to the limit to find even a shred of what we call the Great Truth—aren't they actually chosen by the Truth itself as it slowly reveals its face to them? 😲😉
istina was never hidden, and it isn't now. The illusion that it's being kept from us comes from our own current state of consciousness.
You have to expand your awareness first to recognize istina. Awareness isn't an intellectual thing. It's purely spiritual.
Consciousness isn't an intellectual thing. It’s purely spiritual. Science and the economy will only truly advance once spirituality finds its rightful place. That's when people will finally see how beautiful life can actually be. Instead of fighting external problems, we have to win our own War of the Worlds. It's always an internal struggle. If you have enough love inside you, you can make a massive impact on the world around you.
Life was never a mystery, and it certainly isn't one now. The only real obstacle is humanity's single greatest "ailment"—a total lack of interest in finding true meaning, purpose, and direction...
casualtiger2 said:Why would anyone actually want to remember their past lives?
I’m assuming nature has its reasons for keeping those memories locked away from us.
It isn't about nature. It's about our capacity. Specifically, our stage of spiritual growth. As spiritual beings—Souls—once we gather enough experience in this world, we start to grasp and accept the reality of previous lives. Then, we reach a point where we can actually peek back at those past lives to see what needs fixing with certain people so we can outgrow specific problems.
The lady here mentioned the journey of souls, which is a term used for conscious travel to higher realms, where you can glimpse your own lives through the causal world while dreaming.
To be precise, it’s a method for the conscious expansion of awareness, which is a spiritual category, not an intellectual one.
So, nature isn't hiding past lives from us. It's our own mental sensor protecting us from facing higher truths and realities before we are spiritually ready.
I'd say there's a slim chance hypnotic regression would reveal the most painful moments, or at least the ones where we were the cause of the trouble. That's how the sensor protects us if we aren't capable of taking responsibility yet. Usually, people still prefer to see someone else as the culprit. Because of that, instead of regression, it might be better to try a solid spiritual exercise using dreams to help solve certain issues before we are truly ready to face the actual cause from the past.
