Dealing with hemorrhoids – any advice? in Health ·
Michael Diaz4 said:Has anyone else ever dealt with something like this...

I’m not really in the same boat—I’ve been working for about 30 years now... and honestly, I can't wrap my head around all the complaining and shouting. We live in a society where there are actual doctors and hospitals available—so if you don't have any other options... you just go see a doctor.

Look, you’re free to post whatever you want, but why just dump random thoughts here? If you want to talk about kiwi, you should actually know how to eat it properly—and if it tastes too sour for you, well, that's on you! Kiwi is one of the absolute powerhouses when it comes to Vitamin C. Forget oranges or those other citrus things... And please, people, stop acting like it’s some kind of miracle cure!
In my humble twenty years of experience, kiwi doesn't have anything to do with digestion issues or hemorrhoids, but there is one rule: stick to just one a day! What happens if you eat a pound of them? You might end up with an ulcer! Or if someone tries to wolf down five pounds at once, they might just lose their mind.

Good grief... Looking back at the recent comments—saying it easily turns into a tumor? Seriously? Who even says that?! Hemorrhoids turning into tumors? Was that some fortune teller's advice? What total nonsense.
And honestly, FedEx completely wrecked me. Not only was the price absolutely outrageous, but I ended up bleeding for more days than before and just tossed the whole thing in the trash. And all those fancy theories about "sealing" things... did a psychic tell you that, too? Inflamed, swollen capillaries don't just "seal" shut.

Can we please have a little more science and a lot less witchcraft here?

Forgive my bluntness here—but when the blood is basically "spraying" and hitting the toilet bowl with every single heartbeat, it’s genuinely terrifying. You start thinking about needing a transfusion or something... Honestly, though, cold water helps constrict those capillaries! Just apply some pressure, wait a bit, and it usually settles down. And if you want to prevent them from bursting in the first place, try using a good ointment with horse chestnut extract—I've found that after a few years of consistent use, they just don't pop anymore.

For anyone using Hädensa: just a heads-up, sometimes symptoms, bleeding, or even ruptures can actually get WORSE because it doesn't always work for everyone. I ended up having to toss mine out after a couple of days because things were getting pretty rough! Still, it's probably best to get a professional opinion from a good pharmacist.

I don't think horse chestnut has a direct link to hemorrhoids themselves—it's more about helping those "crazy" capillary walls. Since you almost always see horse chestnut extract in vein creams and gels, any of them should work. If you pair it with another ointment that actually does the job (and honestly, everyone reacts differently—for me, nothing from Hädensa worked at all, but I swear by Proctolyn), it helps strengthen those swollen capillaries. It makes them much tougher so they don't burst nearly as easily! Just keep in mind, though—you really have to use it consistently for years to see the real benefit.

Fortune tellers, fake prophets, and so-called "doctors"—it’s honestly wild how many scammers and frauds seem to pop up everywhere lately. It really makes you wonder about the state of things. My only advice? Ask questions—that's why we have this forum, after all—but also make sure to share your own experiences so others don't fall for the same thing!

vividcrane25 said:Jessica Grant56; were you actually one of those people who went under the knife? If so, what kind of procedure was it and how did it go? I remember you being a big advocate for just living in harmony with your hemorrhoids.

Well, I wouldn't call myself an "advocate"—it's more like I've been trying to coexist with them for decades now, and honestly, I'm doing okay. Everything feels pretty much the same as before—they stay "inside-out," under control, and there's no bleeding. I suppose all that vein gel helped toughen up the walls, so they aren't acting up as much. It’s almost like they aren't even there, despite me not spending hours hunched over at work—because if I did, I’d definitely notice when they decide to make an appearance, and let's be real, it's not easy to coax them back inside once they're out.

I use some Proctolyn cream—an Italian brand that I'm definitely NOT advertising, but it’s easily one of my favorites. So, combined with a more careful diet (I don't even touch spicy or peppery food), keeping things regular, staying a bit cleaner, and using just a reasonable amount of ointment and gel—well, it works great, so thanks for asking... No surgery required.

And I'll say that ridiculous piece of advice again: take a photo from below!! Put the camera on the floor, aim carefully, and finally, you'll see exactly who your enemy is and what they look like! Plus, by next year, you'll be able to tell if the enemy has made any progress.

goldenhawk75 said:I’d say it’s just a perfect storm of endless stress and a pretty terrible diet.
Since nothing else seemed to work...
...I can see those damn purple hemorrhoids right on the edge. They aren't really tucked away inside, but they aren't fully outside either—they're just... there.🙂 Neither in nor out.
What am I supposed to do now?

Easy questions, easy answers: sure, stress is a huge factor... and let's not even get started on the diet. Honestly, you probably need to cut back on sitting too—maybe try working from home if you can manage that!
- Most creams for this kind of thing have a little local anesthetic in them, which should help take the edge off the itching. Maybe ask a pharmacist if they have something with a higher concentration?
- Well, that's just how life goes. You start small, things grow... then you're bigger, and suddenly everything is shifting around, sometimes inside, sometimes poking out...
- Man, the answer to that is complicated. You definitely need to see a doctor, but if they're far away, you've got to figure out transportation—a plane or a car is better, because a bike is probably a bad idea right now. When you head to the clinic, try to keep a cool head—it won't just vanish on its own. In about 80% of cases, topical creams or shouting at the problem doesn't do much; eventually, you end up having to go with one of those physical removal methods. And—there you have it.

which means they definitely exist.
1. internal
2. both internal and external, because internal ones can basically trigger external ones...
and that’s really it...
everything else just isn't quite right!

No, you don't get to decide that!! There are internal-external types... How? Well, they start on the inside, then after a bowel movement they pop out just a little bit, and then you push them back in (and they vanish completely!) and that goes on for years and years...

Some people swear by it—but honestly, I just THREW that expensive money down the drain. I could've just bought a six-pack of Budweiser instead... it probably would've had the exact same effect as Excel.

I’ve run out of that vein gel I usually pair with this Italian cream—Proctolyn (not an ad, I promise!)—which I’ve honestly found way more helpful than anything else I've tried. When I stopped by the pharmacy, they showed me about five or six different types of gels, and the pharmacist actually confirmed that using these gels can be super effective for managing hemorrhoids. Since I haven't seen any blood in quite a while—knock on wood, knock on wood, knock on wood—we're talking years here—I really think that staying consistent with this cream and gel combo has helped toughen up those "wild" capillary walls enough so they don't burst anymore. They've been sitting at about a grade 3 (from inside to out) for years now; they aren't growing, and while living with them isn't exactly a walk in the park, we've kind of reached a peaceful coexistence.

Look, I've been dealing with this since back in the day during the war, and since I haven't done anything about it, I can tell you for a fact that you can actually live with hemorrhoids. Sure, it might take a little bit of a toll on your stamina or how you handle intense physical activity, but it's not a total dealbreaker. That said, after two or three hours of heavy lifting or hard labor, things can definitely flare up. This is why I think it’s just plain wrong to claim that everyone needs surgery—we aren't all built the same!

vividcrane25 said:I went through two whole boxes of Detralex, and honestly, those little pills didn't do a damn thing for me; maybe they work for some people, but not for me. I think I'll give Pilex a shot—it's officially available here in the States now too. Has anyone actually had any luck with it?

Not for me. I dealt with bleeding for seven days straight, and the result was still a big fat zero... negative. And all that stuff isn't exactly cheap, either. But hey... if you've got the itch and the extra cash to burn, go ahead and try it.

I think it’s just smarter to get back to our everyday struggles and actual advice, rather than wasting time on these total frauds. Mind you, I’m not closed-minded—I’ll take anything if there’s real proof behind it. But for now, I’m not buying into this "three lights," higher energy, or Hadensa nonsense, no matter how many long-winded essays that gentleman from Canada posts here. Honestly, I tried it myself (an Austrian version, obviously—they don't exactly whip these up in a garage over here)—and the result was the exact opposite. I ended up with some pretty decent bleeding!! For me, that’s the end of the discussion...
I believe there are already three options, besides Pilex, Hadensa, and Detralex. That first one personally caused me seven days of bleeding! And it didn't even work at all...

Hadensa might seem like a good option to some people, but honestly, it caused me a massive amount of trouble—I actually dealt with some bleeding and all sorts of issues, so I ditched it pretty quickly!! It seems like it doesn't work well for older folks at all; maybe it’s fine for kids, but I've heard from plenty of other frustrated people that once they tried it, they were "never again." So please, be careful with recommendations—we don't want anyone else ending up worse off.
It isn't even available here in the States, and nobody seems to know why—which makes me wonder if there are certain ingredients in it that wouldn't pass our FDA regulations.
Just to be clear, I'm not trying to push any products or anything, but after trying a bunch of different things, I found that the Italian Tylenol works best for me, and it's actually pretty affordable.

Honestly, someone needs to put you in a frame... maybe give you a little hope for once instead of just the constant venting. Seriously—I just hope this lasts for you. But look, you aren't really saying (without me going too far back) what the actual size or scale was like? If we're talking about something roughly the diameter of a pinky fingertip—long-term issues, but they're under control—how does that work with this specific method when dealing with those "in-out-in" movements? Even though I still stand by my usual thought—that we manage to endure things for a long time and relatively well—it’s never a bad idea to have more details on the table!

amberseal6 said:Has anyone actually tried using Pilex?

Look, you aren't really going to "prevent" it... If you lean over, it’s going to happen—you might just delay the inevitable if you're careful.
People seem to rave about Pilex. Honestly, though, I think most of them are just "newcomers" to this whole ordeal—people who are just starting to deal with these issues. Maybe it works for some "younger" crowd?? As for me, my experience with Pilex (and let me tell you, I’ve been dealing with this issue for 30 years now—we have a very complicated relationship!) was nothing short of a disaster. Unless the Chinese manufacturers were just selling me flour, the effect was absolutely zero. To make matters worse, I dealt with quite a bit of bleeding while taking it—which, frankly, almost never happens to me otherwise. Plus, the irritation was a bit much, unless they're adding some magical herb from the peak of the Himalayas or something... It's pretty obvious there are no refunds, and they don't even care about the "failed cases." So, between the rare successes and the massive failures, the takeaway is: it's hit or miss depending on the person. You're left facing the problem of dropping hundreds of dollars for a result that's basically a zero-percent chance of success.

Eric Chase12 said:what's up with you, Jessica Grant56? It feels like you're totally missing the joke—either you're just having one of those days, or maybe you're just a bit prickly when things don't go exactly your way. If you've actually got some new info, please share it, but let's not start jumping down people's throats over nothing.

Now, who exactly is jumping at whom? I'm not sure here. I took my response as a way of agreeing with what you said about not attacking anyone—unless that wasn't how you intended it? You made a great point, and I was just backing you up... I guess besides using scalpels or lasers and all that, we can try to coexist. Is that what you meant?

Honestly, this belongs right in a book titled "The Bloody Tales of Little Ivica"—and I definitely wouldn't recommend trying any of this if the hospital is more than a couple of blocks away. Anyone who’s actually seen how much blood sprays when one of those big ones bursts can only laugh... though, I guess everyone has their own way of doing things. Maybe the moderators should pull this post before someone actually loses their mind and tries something crazy!

P.S: I heard about one guy who actually tried to cauterize himself with a desk lamp...

That cream burns so much—like, for about 15 minutes after you put it on—it feels like that area is just on fire... I don't know if that's actually normal?
Thanks

Just be careful with Hadens—I've heard there's a reason why you can't even find it here in the States. Honestly, it’s one of the weaker creams out there (I ended up tossing mine), so maybe try looking for something better. If you can get it delivered, Proctolyn worked best for me, but there are plenty of other solid options. A decent cream really should take the edge off the pain pretty quickly, since they usually have an anesthetic in them!
