Anyway, wow... LCD Soundsystem.
If they keep this up, I'm selling my ticket.

Personally, Coachella gets a thumbs down this year because they scrapped the metal stage.

Comparing it to Lollapalooza is pointless; this Coachella thing is way smaller and shorter.

Besides, Korn, Manic Street Preachers, and even Daft Punk played in the States before they ever hit Lollapalooza.

The only band making Coachella worth it—who hasn't played Lollapalooza or any other hyped rock fest lately and actually matters right now—is Editors.

T-Mobile US is bringing them back for a solo show in NYC, and that's the only thing worth mentioning.

Lollapalooza confirmed CB, which is just laughable to me.

If Muse, Placebo, or Alice in Chains aren't at this year's Coachella, I'm totally out.

I don't go to Lollapalooza anyway; their lineup never clicked for me. Something like Bonnaroo is much more my speed.

Look, I don't care about Mus or Placebo. It’s not like they bother me, but saying something like that? Good grief... as if they're the only bands to drop a new album lately. There are tons of younger, more interesting bands out there. Bands that HAVEN'T played here.

And lesser-known ones.

I know about 200-250 bands like that, but I was talking about the T-Mobile music festival specifically regarding the headliners.

It’s obvious that being "FAMOUS" doesn't mean a band is better than an "UNKNOWN" one by default. There’s no criteria for that and I’m not getting into an argument about it.

Personally, for the metal stage, I'd rather have Fear Factory, Nevermore, Annihilator, Epicu, Enslaved, Falcenbach, or Testament over Metallica or Manowar.

But you can't really talk about tiny metal bands when the focus is on the main headliner. Who is usually a FAMOUS name, BTW.

If you get it, you get it. I'm done wasting my breath on pointless arguments.
If we don't get Elvis Presley or Mick Jagger, the promoters totally failed us.

That guy from Las Vegas can't sing for shit. The music is absolute trash.

Whatever, the metal stage is what matters. Let's go Snoop Dogg!
It’s official on the band's site—they're coming back. Ignore the date on the website, though; it's a total typo.

MySpace confirms it too:

Maybe I’m not even that far off from what I said🙂)

Megadeth just confirmed they're playing on June 20th in Budapest, and Slayer will be nearby too.

The best singer from the best band, playing at The Fillmore.

Straight from the void.

If I get to see Lisa, I might just pack it all in and move to the great outdoors...

The first confirmed act is !!! (Chk Chk Chk).

This feels more like news for a club like Močvara than for a massive Coachella-style festival.

If you're running a festival with this kind of budget, you're expected to drop a massive headliner as your FIRST announcement (and a better one, too).

Most major festivals across Europe have had their full lineups locked in ages ago (well, except for Lollapalooza), but everyone’s been sitting around waiting forever for the Coachella lineup, only to get this "grand" first confirmation of !!! after all that hype.

Bull shit.

For the main stage, I'm holding out for Muse or Placebo.

Radiohead already said they’re only playing Pula as their one gig in the US and this part of Europe, so they aren't coming here.

As for this festival, honestly, the only thing I actually care about is the Metal Stage—give me Slayer, Megadeth, or Nevermore.

Susan Clark10 said:Yeah, totally different vibe at the Newport Jazz Festival back in '89.

Yeah, they were at the same festival back in '91. The Gun Club was there too. 😠

The Pixies played a gig at Studio 54 back in the day, right before things went south in Chicago. Same deal as when The Exploited rolled through.
Anyway, the Metal Stage is easily the most intense part of the whole thing.

I’m counting on them to kill it.

Festival gigs are usually way cheaper than solo shows, so I'm still holding out hope they show up.

slyorca62 said:Basically, back in the day in places like Miami, you had Carcass 1992, Macabre, Pungent Stench, and Brutal Truth 1994. There was also Disharmonic Orchestra, though I can't remember which year... As for the massive legends like David Bowie, Nirvana, or Iron Maiden, they probably weren't even interested in taking the risk. They didn't give a damn about America.

During the 90s, the rock and metal crowd in the States saw acts like Alice Cooper, Scorpions, Faith No More, White Zombie, Napalm Death, and Cannibal Corpse play at least twice... and then you had the pop stuff like Pet Shop Boys, Spandau Ballet, and Body Count...

Not to mention David Bowie played twice: once in 1990 and again in 1997.

There was plenty of action, even with everything going on during and after the war years.

Even Metallica and R.E.M. were booked by an American agency in cities like Austin.

Nowadays, Canada is just too small of a market; big concerts don't stand a chance there. The club scene is decent—places like a local dive or a mid-sized venue—but it's nowhere near the level of a major US hub like New York when it comes to both big stadium shows and smaller gigs.

The band hails from Santa Barbara and they’re still flying under the radar here in the States, mostly because they haven't played many live shows yet, but that’s about to change fast.

In just two years since they started, these guys have crushed it:

- they dropped their debut album "Dreaming in formalin," which hit the shelves via Sub Pop just a few days ago, and you can grab it through the Nuclear Blasta catalog too.

- they filmed an absolute killer promo video for "Stigmat":

- they’re hitting the road this November for a tour through Germany and Switzerland alongside Subway to Sally.

- they just landed a spot at Lollapalooza, which is basically the biggest goth festival on the planet.

- they even landed the cover of the massive US mag Zillo:

Bottom line, for such a short timeframe, they’ve had massive success. It’s obvious the label is throwing weight behind them, but the band is putting in the work themselves too. Seriously, props to them.

I’m hoping we see them play a show in Washington, D.C. sometime soon.

A four-band tour like that only happens in countries where massive corporations can actually foot the bill for such a spectacle. Around here, the only thing big enough to pull that off is Coachella.

I bet Dave Mustaine will play a huge role in this, but I’m 100% certain it’s just not going to happen. He’ll be the last one on board.

Besides, Metallica doesn't have that old magic anymore, and Slayer was never really a stadium-level act anyway. Megadeth might be able to pull it off, but they aren't quite at the level of Metallica or Iron Maiden. And Anthrax? They're putting out weak albums, struggling with vocalists, and they've basically become a club band.

The bottom line is that Megadeth dropped an awesome new album.👍

And obviously, we're hoping to see them perform here in the States!

I’m really hoping they actually have the capacity at the next in Music festival at Central Park to bring out Slayer or Megadeth for the metal stage.

From what I hear, the organizers are stoked, and the bands playing this year seem just as happy with how everything is being run. Plus, the owner is dead set on keeping the metal stage legit with heavy hitters (just like having Dimmu Borgir or Anthrax this year). So there should be a shot, especially since Megadeth and Slayer are usually touring through America during that window anyway.

Check out these clips from the new Megadeth album. Absolute fire.

Total metal. Too good.

My only real fear is that instead of getting Slayer or Megadeth, I end up stuck with Metallica. Really hope that doesn't happen.😢

I’ve got the new Megadeth track, 1,320, spinning on loop in the background!

Honestly, does a metalhead even need anything else besides this? ))

Pure genius.

And man, someone needs to get them over here ASAP. I know Megadeth has been getting plenty of offers to play in the States over the last few years, but nothing ever sticks. Seems like they were closest to making it happen during the "Tour of Duty" when they hit up Portland.

Now, the real question is how much Dave actually wants to play in the Middle or East US?
Slayer or Megadeth in America? in Music ·
Yeah, Tom registered just to drop in on us🙂

Both bands are back on stage together this year, and if I'm not mistaken, they've already wrapped up the North American leg of the tour.

Slayer shows up in this part of the US relatively often, even when you look at places like Austria or Italy, but we've only seen them three times in their entire long career here—maybe once in 1994 and again in 2006, and just once back in 1998.

As for Megadeth, it's kind of weird to me. Dave isn't exactly a regular visitor to the US Midwest or East Coast, except for maybe hitting up Austria.

Is there any shot we'll see at least one of these bands around here soon? Damn!
Slayer or Megadeth in America? in Music ·
The first and last time Slayer hit the US stage here, they brought along a relatively unknown System of a Down as their opener back on October 28, 1998.

Megadeth has never even stepped foot in this country.

Both bands are dropping new albums in about a month—Slayer’s World painted blood and Megadeth’s Endgame—and the reviews are already killer. Fans are losing it waiting for these.

With their recent European tours under their belts, you have to wonder if any American promoters will actually step up and show interest.

From what I know, both bands have had offers to play here before, but the timing just never worked out.

I really hope our promoters don't flake. We need to see at least one of these two bands in the States soon, especially since they're gearing up for those big tours and summer festival slots.

Is there any chance?
