Pretty much a given that they'll show up.
There’s easily 500 artists worth checking out if you actually look around:

IN FLAMES, ROB ZOMBIE, Motörhead, SLIPKNOT, FOO FIGHTERS, SYSTEM OF A DOWN, MANIC STREET PREACHERS, DISTURBED, LINKIN PARK AND STUFF...

Local acts here just play the same old crap every single time.
I was hoping for the Foo Fighters, but having Grinderman headline this is absolute garbage.

It's totally fine if Nick Cave performs with The Seeds, but Grinderman? With only two albums under their belt? No way. Absolutely not.

I'm seriously disappointed. This is such a letdown.

I'm putting my money on seeing a decent lineup from some other promoter outside of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

The metal acts look solid enough on their own—we've got Slayer / Megadeth, Mortiis, Epica, and Grave Digger coming through...

I don't expect the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival to bring in any big metal names by chance (though it would be killer if they brought in in Flames), but Grinderman headlining day two of the festival is a total fail !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thomas Thompson43 said:The Grinderman site says they're coming to Coachella and starting at 7 PM... maybe they're on the main stage. Personally, I think they'd fit way better on a smaller side stage out in the woods somewhere. 😁

They're on the main stage, sure, but nobody actually confirmed they're headlining day two.

What’s the deal with FF, System of a Down, Manic Street Preachers, and Suede?
Henry Mitchell29 said:So they're the elite few actually making real, exciting art today? Yeah, right... ☕
there's plenty better out there. If you look beyond that narrow rock bubble...

Obviously there's better than Arcade Fire.

Look, I'd love to see David Bowie or even Coheed and Cambria too, but we aren't getting them. Not happening.

And if we're gonna talk about "true values"... personally, bands like Coldplay, Kings of Leon, or The Killers are straight-up trash. There's absolutely nothing to them, especially when it comes to anything deep or spiritual.
quietcobra said:Radar isn't Canadian. In Denver this year, they've got Moby + and some other unannounced headliner, and we'll see who shows up here, but I know someone's gonna be there...

Radar isn't Canadian and never was.

That festival was run by an Austrian organizer who also owns Lollapalooza, working with American partners.

Moby is part of Burning Man, which runs in Chicago and Denver on alternating days. It's driven by Mars Music (publishing and promo), which has offices in both Chicago and Denver (owned by a guy from Mexico).
Henry Mitchell29 said:I wouldn't exactly say I'm screaming with joy about Arcade Fire. ☕

Lately, I’ve been deep in a rabbit hole with this stuff... Kraftwerk, Prodigy, Massive Attack, even The Flaming Lips. I caught a Kanye set live for the first time and it just hit different. Honestly, lost track of all the other heavy hitters that actually matter.
Arcade Fire is just some basic, mid-tier indie rock to me. Honestly, they aren't gonna cut it. ☕
Someone who actually gets Brogan going. Honestly. The holy grail. . 🤣

Metal is my jam, personally. But honestly, thank God we’re actually getting bands like Arcade Fire that give a damn about real values and actually respect art.

I really hope that in the coming years we see less of the same garbage—less obsession with boobs and butts, less R&B trash, all that hip-swiveling nonsense, skinniest models you ever saw, heavy makeup, and just plain bad electronic music.

Arcade Fire isn't some "indie-alt" thing or whatever you're trying to claim. They're just a straight-up rock band celebrating how beautiful life is.

Look, we already saw how it goes. There’s no such thing as a "regional exclusive" with their Lollapalooza set. Get that nonsense out of your head. It's just fake hype. Just like last year when The Flaming Lips didn't play Lollapalooza because the organizers claimed they had some "exclusive" deal. Total garbage.

AIC and FL only played at Coachella because our promoters reached out and actually met their demands. They put on legendary sets that people will be talking about for years—hopefully, those won't be the last ones we see around here.

The US and the UK are two completely separate markets. They don't depend on each other at all.
Kenneth Rodriguez58 said:Look, you're exaggerating a bit here, but it’s nothing new. It’s common knowledge that bands demand way more than their usual fee if they aren't playing a specific tour stop—like Lollapalooza, in this case, assuming that info is actually right.

I'm telling you again, that whole mess with the Flaming Lips went down last summer.

If you're gonna keep bringing up the "region," then explain the logic to me. Why would AF play shows in places that are way closer to us than Novi Sad?

Why would someone from the West Coast even bother traveling? 373 miles If you're hanging out in Novi Sad, you could easily drive to Austria or Italy and see three times as much action in the same amount of mileage. It's just common sense.

So that "exclusive" angle? Total flop. It missed the mark completely.

It’s better this way. It won't have an impact on the whole country.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not exactly an AF fan—I'd much rather see In Flames on that stage—but honestly, you guys clearly have zero clue how these negotiations are actually going down or what the details look like right now.
Kenneth Rodriguez58 said:Of course, just like what happened with the Flaming Lips last year here. They sign a deal, pay a massive sum, and suddenly they're the only ones playing in this entire part of the country. Real logic there. 🤷

Mali_djava knows that AF signed an exclusive contract with Lollapalooza.

Never heard of a situation like this in the music industry.

An exclusive contract for what exactly???

To play only in Mexico, and refuse to play within 311 miles miles of Novi Sad???

Or even better, they'll play within 311 miles miles of Novi Sad, but the "exclusivity" is just a lame excuse because they won't play in Chicago for some special "exclusive" reason??!!

AF will show up if our management calls them, guarantees the setup, and their management actually likes the offer.

If that doesn't happen, don't blame your fake "exclusivity" for it!

Besides, anyone who actually loves AF can just head over to Austria, which is only an hour away from Chicago. You won't find any "exclusivity" or ego trips over there.
Kyle Wilson74 said:Forget about it. Obviously Lollapalooza has some kind of regional exclusivity. Plus, these bands aren't robots—they won't just play one show after another without stopping. They need sleep, food, and they have to travel from the US to Austria.

What "regional" exclusivity are you even talking about?
Total nonsense.

"Have to travel from the US to Austria"???

Seriously, traveling from the States to Austria takes hours, getting to Vienna takes three days, and reaching Linz would take two months.

Geographically, Austria is way closer to the territory of Chicago than Novi Sad is, and both Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and Lollapalooza are physically and temporally distinct.

Bands go wherever they're booked, unless they decide they want a day off. AC/DC knows they're huge in America; they aren't going to turn down an invite if the terms are right.
Kenneth Rodriguez58 said:hope not...

Besides, there were tons of bands at Lollapalooza last year—I’d say Crystal Castles and Faith No More stood out. Everyone was acting like they were definitely showing up, but nope, they didn't...

Just like how people in the Midwest were hyped thinking Nirvana would show up.

Well, they didn't.

Same goes for The Flaming Lips.

And both those bands absolutely killed it.

Both of them.
Kate Lopez87 said:Arcade Fire or Foo Fighters? Honestly, I'm happy with either 🙏. It feels like bringing in bands that massive would be way too much right now.

I think Arcade Fire is a safe bet, and FF isn't far off either.))

The saddest part is that the organizers are clearly just playing it safe and trying to find some "sweet spot." They want enough people to show up so they make money, but they also want bands that are actually trending.

Arcade Fire, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Tool (new album dropping soon), System of a Down, Manic Street Preachers, Placebo, Muse, Queens of the Stone Age (new album coming soon too), etc., etc...
Reflections on the Bhagavad Gita in Spirituality ·
About two years ago, we finally got a modern American edition of the two most famous epics from India—and honestly, the whole world—the Ramayana and the Mahabharata.

The Bhagavad Gita is the heart of the Mahabharata. In this version, it’s written in prose, capturing the intense dialogue and philosophical clashes between Arjuna and Krishna right before they head off to that massive civil war.

It’s probably some of the most beautiful writing on the planet.

And its value? It's eternal.
Pearl Jam
Foo Fighters
System of a Down
Slipknot
They’re just sitting around waiting for all the heavy hitters to get booked at other festivals so they can scavenge whatever is left over.

The biggest names for next summer are gonna be Foo Fighters, Soundgarden, Manic, and System of a Down.

We'll see about that.
Looks like this show is about to sell out. Better grab your tickets ASAP if you want in. I already snagged mine.
Noah Myers67 said:Look... I guess you totally shut me down with that comment. I’m embarrassed...
but it doesn't change the fact that people claiming this festival is trash if Muse or Placebo don't show up... they're just talking nonsense.

I'm not saying anything about Muse or Placebo.

I was just trying to point out that Muse from three years ago isn't the same band they are today.

It's the same way Massive Attack in Washington, D.C. back in 2002 wasn't the same Massive Attack in Washington, D.C. in 2009. Attendance numbers shift over time, get it?

Everyone has their own taste. But the real issue is that the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival organizers haven't shown any actual vision so far.

Last year's lineup was killer.

This year—so far—is a total fail, IF YOU ASK ME.

Billie Eilish is fine and the girl has hits. But overall—it's bad, just bad... Luckily, outside of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, we've got Skunk Anansie, Megadeth, and probably Alice in Chains coming to town too, so the season is saved. But this lineup? Not promising at all.

Still waiting on the real headliners. I just hope they don't screw it up with The Chemical Brothers too.

Over & out!
Noah Myers67 said:Man, screw all of you... they played in Washington, D.C. and how many people actually showed up?

The turnout was exactly the same as when Massive Attack played their first show in Washington, D.C.—not even 3,000 people.

Figure it out yourself.
urbannomad30 said:You better go at them. Tell that organizer exactly where they can shove it! 🙄 Look, Coachella isn't your personal playground just because you want them to grant you three wishes. Sit this one out. We don't need you here. 👋

What's your problem?

Read my sentence more carefully. I’m saying if Placebo, Alice in Chains, or Muse aren't on this year's Coachella lineup, I am completely out.

Can someone break this down for me? What else does Tom need to add or cut from this?

It’s pretty obvious I wasn't speaking for "you guys." I was just speaking for myself.
