If a tribute band actually nails the music and the guys have great energy on stage—honestly, I don't care if they aren't playing original songs. I've caught a few killer shows (like The Doors Experience, a Led Zeppelin tribute, and an RHCP/RATM night at The Fillmore), and those bands crushed it. They played with real soul and built an atmosphere you just can't replicate by listening to a recording. Leave the artistic identity crises to the performers—most of them have their own original projects to worry about anyway. Besides, you aren't going to win a guitar at a listening party like you might at a Jimi Hendrix tribute.
Grinderman was great, the TV coverage was solid, and Arcade Fire was amazing—even though I don't usually listen to them much. Same goes for Rage Against the Machine. Jamiroquai was a bit underwhelming, which is a bummer because I actually like them. The Rolling Stones were pretty boring, but the Boy was just something special. I don't drink beer, but those free popcorn bags were honestly delicious. I managed to dodge the entry lines by showing up early both days. Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival was incredible—seriously, what a blast. See you all for day three!

The only real proof you have is the people standing right next to you. Of course, that changes if you believe there are other souls living out their own projections in different dimensions—some of them just happening to overlap with yours right now. That would basically make reality feel like a massive multiplayer game.🙂
Jerry King11 said:The universe is infinite, which means every single point serves as its own center. In that sense, we are the center of our own worlds, yet we're just one tiny speck in an endless sequence of centers... 😍
Heh, I'm not so sure about that. A single soul can be an entire universe unto itself. Honestly? That might actually be you.
silvereagle6 said:It’s not exactly the same thing, but it feels pretty similar to an astral projection experience.
Sure, detaching from our physical shells is the starting point for both—but I think this takes it a step further. Or maybe it's just more absurd, depending on how you look at it. If you follow this theory to its logical conclusion, you could end up thinking there’s only one true being in existence. And hey—it might not even be me or you, but someone else entirely whom we’re all just projecting. Talk about a trip!
silvereagle6 said:If you feel like sharing, I'd love to hear your take. How exactly can the body be perceived as an illusion? To me, it’s just physical matter—I honestly struggle to wrap my head around seeing it any other way.🤷
Haha, let's put that theory to the test. If the soul—or the mind, or whatever label we use for our non-material essence—is what projects our physical body, which in turn projects the world around us, then we basically take that mental image as reality. Why wouldn't we? If I feel the texture of my keyboard under my fingers right now, then the "keyboard" definitely exists. But if the body is just a projection of the mind, it could theoretically take any shape the mind imagines—which would change the world itself. In principle, matter doesn't exist. It sounds absurd, maybe, but it certainly gives you something to chew on.
silvereagle6 said:The world around us shouldn't be an absolute lie. That's such a turoban sentiment to hold onto. I really hope you've surrounded yourself with people you can actually trust—people who offer that absolute truth and love that you can then pass along to others. If you find yourself isolated, try to adapt; you can't really blame the entire world for your own solitude. Honestly, there's a good chance we might be responsible for our own isolation. Humans are social creatures by nature—that's really the only way we can truly find ourselves and thrive.
Man, okay—let's reel it back in. I pulled this from a comment on a previous page where someone basically argued that the physical body is just a mental illusion. My logic was simple: if the body is an illusion, then the only thing it can perceive is also an illusion, you know? The idea just grabbed me—especially since there are so many "wake up" calls out there that don't actually say anything meaningful about the world we’re supposed to be waking up to. Don't worry, I'm not some hermit living in the woods—and even if I were, I wouldn't be bringing it up in this thread. Thanks for the kind words.
silvereagle6 said:Honestly, there’s nothing worse than isolation. You’ll just fall into a permanent sleep.
But why? How am I supposed to wake up when I'm constantly tethered to a world that feels like one big lie? Now—it’s just an assumption for now—but I'm operating under the idea that every single piece of this reality is an illusion.
If the body is just an illusion, then everything it perceives has to be an illusion too, right? If I’m following that logic correctly—and I might be overthinking this—then the most vital part of waking up would be deep introspection and a total rejection of the world around us. So, first step: isolation?
Benjamin Phillips14 said:Can someone just make an announcement as the very first post on the front page and list all the performers? That's how it usually works in standard threads. ? I won't have the time—I've got to work this Saturday. 🙂
Well, I guess that's exactly why the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival website exists in the first place.
Kenneth Rodriguez58 said:I think they start dropping announcements in April... I can't recall the exact timing.
Nah, actually—we get the fifth performer in April. Tickets drop first, then the headliners follow about a week later—it's always a bit of a trickle, really—and the full lineup doesn't wrap up until a month before Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Who knows, though? They might just throw us a curveball this year.🤷
Arthur Anderson75 said:They’re basically just waiting for all the headliners to book their slots at the big festivals first—then they swoop in to grab whatever is left over.
The heavy hitters for next summer will definitely be Foo Fighters, Soundgarden, Manic, and System of a Down.
Just a quick update from the festival!!! I was actually planning on catching Morcheeba instead, but honestly, it didn't matter—the guys absolutely crushed it. Seriously, total knockout. I was feeling twice as wiped out halfway through their set as I did after finishing day zero—that’s just how much energy they pull out of you. The music is one of those things where you can't help but jump around or throw some gay energy into the mix (which is exactly what Nick was channeling during the whole performance👍). I mean, even if you were hearing them for the very first time, you wouldn't be able to help yourself—they're just that good. Tomorrow is looking pretty chill with BSS, Lips, and MA😍
The swamp—it was there, though I honestly expected more (fingers crossed for next time)—definitely a bit of a jump scare, though. Beer—$5.00, and man, they pour it right up to the brim.😍 Restrooms—kind of claustrophobic, but hey, the vibe was cool. Kawasaki—not usually my thing, but it would've been alright. TBF—don't really listen to them either, but they were incredibly good; aside from one awkward stumble by Mr. Badovinac, which he handled like a pro. Alice in Chains—stunning, just absolutely stunning.
Also, I was pleasantly surprised by the indie student crowd—didn't get a single dirty look for wearing my Led Zeppelin shirt.🤣
Henry Mitchell29 said:Man, the crews running these festivals have been dealing with these sluggish June heatwaves for years now—they know exactly what they're doing. They really should have seen this weather coming—it's always the same story. Instead of actual decent weather, we get stuck with this mess, yet people still insist on booking outdoor festivals. It’s like expecting a sunny day at Coachella only to get rained out. 😁 They could have easily leveled things up by adding some rubber matting—at least right in front of the main stage. Let's not try to play Woodstock games. Stuck in the freezing mud. ☕
As for Wednesday—the forecast is looking way better, which is a huge win in my book. 😍
Ehehe, here’s a little something for the newer generations—think of it like a mini version of '94.😁
