Top 5 essential/cult metal albums. in Music ·
feralstag11 said:Look, dummy, can we talk about stuff other than just heavy and thrash? (Since you were the one rambling about them anyway). If we can... well... damn, how do I even put this.....

I don't know, maybe Satyricon-Nemesis Divin, or Burzum - Aske, or whatever... there's plenty of good stuff out there if you actually look.
😁

But let's be real, you haven't heard 99% of it...😁
T-shirt slogan ideas in Miscellaneous ·
I’ve been digging through some random corners of the web lately and honestly, I’ve stumbled upon a ton of ideas for stuff like this...

1. This one is probably the best...

"I'm a lesbian trapped in this fat metalhead's body"

2. (Specifically for the bikers out there)...
Picture some guy cruising down the highway on his bike, and then you see what's plastered on his back...

"If you can read this, then the bitch fell off"

3. Pretty provocative, but it works...

What does our music taste say about us? in Music ·
fadedsailor932 said:Back when I was younger, music taste was a huge factor in who I hung out with, but honestly? Not anymore. If we get along, I don't care what's playing on their Spotify. Cutting someone off just because our playlists don't match feels shallow—actually, it’s straight-up snobbish.

Personally, music never really dictated my friendships, though I'll admit I had my fair share of prejudices back in the day. I definitely made some idiotic comments or looked down on people for their tastes, even if I wasn't being super direct about it...

But you grow out of that stuff. You start realizing that actual core values matter way more than the lifestyle or subculture someone clings to. A real friend is worth their weight in gold, especially nowadays. We're living through such weird, chaotic times where society seems to be falling apart at the seams, and having someone solid in your corner is everything.

amberfalcon172 said:Honestly, I couldn't have put it better myself. As your taste in music broadens, what you listen to becomes less about following some rigid ideology and more about just reflecting how you actually feel at any given moment.
Though, let's be real—some people never bother to step outside their little bubbles.

Look, I think belonging to certain subcultures does more than just provide a way for teenagers to blow off steam or act out. In many cases, it actually shapes a unique worldview. It’s not always about being an extreme rebel; sometimes it’s just about how someone perceives the world around them. Music can definitely play a role in that, though it isn't a guarantee... (take Punk, for example: it often fuels activism or even anarchism in certain circles)
And I totally agree that once you move past puberty and shed all those social labels, your playlist starts getting way more diverse...
I can see that happening in my own life too, even if I still stick to a few specific standards when picking what to listen to.

Honestly, you can learn a hell of a lot about a person just by looking at their taste in music, though I’ll be the first to admit there are plenty of exceptions out there where it tells you absolutely nothing about who they really are...

FINALLY, someone actually brought up Stevie!!!!

In my humble opinion, Stevie Ray is easily one of the greatest guitarists to ever pick up the instrument. The man just had an unbelievable sense of feeling...

I still remember catching a "Tribute to SRV" show once, and man, it was incredible...
I wouldn't call myself a huge Blues fan—I usually lean more toward Jazz—but even for me, Stevie was just on another level.

Are you actually some kind of Q MASTER??

Why the hell are they kicking you off? 😕 😕
Mike Patton in Music ·
Brandon Castillo4 said:Yeah, I was actually just listening to them when I stumbled onto this thread.
I'm a massive fan of pretty much everything Patton touches.😁

For example, Mr Bungle - Retrovertigo😁

Yeeah... well, Brandon, you should've mentioned you were digging this stuff earlier.😁...

Mr Bungle kicks ass...
Man, I would give anything to see them live right about now.😉...

Mr. Wrong said:Getting back to the main point here—out of all of Patton's projects, I’ve really only stuck with Tomahawk, and honestly, that was strictly because of Duane Denison. Even then, they never quite clicked for me...

like Carter USM - A Perfect Day to Drop the Bomb

You absolutely have to dive into Mr. Bungle... all three albums... then you'll see what I mean.😉

mistypanther said:Patton's favorite spot in Venice is that one little bistro. Take him there, buy him a drink, and he'll spill everything himself. Then we won't have to start a new thread every three months just to get an update.🙂

Are you guessing or do you actually know?

Man, if only it were that easy... "Hey, man, get over here to the city for a second, I gotta ask you something."

Man, I stopped downloading stuff ages ago... back when I was still messing around with my old dial-up modem. These days, I don't touch anything.
Between the monthly bills and how painfully slow the speeds are, it just isn't worth the headache.

Benjamin Clark12 said:Brandon Castillo4, every other post you make, you bring up Mike Patton and his "school" of thought. 🙂

That’s exactly why I wrote it this way.

I was active on the old forum, and I’m pretty sure I started threads about Mike Patton over there too, but since there are a ton of new faces here now, I wanted to see where you guys stand on him. He’s basically a non-stop fountain of ideas, and I'm curious to hear your take on the guy.

Aisis is playing in Chicago on March 29th...

I've heard a few tracks from Dälek... and honestly? They're killer. I'm definitely going to try and track down one of their albums soon.

Ipecac kicks ass. Seriously. 😎

Even though I was opening threads about Jane's Addiction on the last forum, and I assume I'll be doing the same here, there are plenty of new faces around now. I'm curious to see what you all think about this guy—he’s basically an endless fountain of ideas.

His main projects are:
Faith No More (definitely his biggest and most mainstream, but honestly not even close to the genius level of his other two outfits),

Jane's Addiction(Total madness—a mix of "circus prog," hard rock, new age, jazz, and pure humor (😁), all blended together through frantic, high-energy musicianship. They're a killer band, always pushing boundaries with fresh ideas and brilliant musical arrangements).

Fantomas
http://www.ipecac.com/fantomas.php
Just another one of this master's experiments, but way more extreme than Jane's Addiction.
The first Fantomas album (*Fantomas-Amenaza a mundo*) is just a collision of sounds—pure simultaneous playing combined with Mike Patton's signature vocals. The result is simply: >> INSANITY.😎 ...
The second album: >> Film Score (The Director's Cut): some of the covers on this are fascinating, like Twin Peaks, Rosemary, The Omen, and so on.
Here is what Ipecac (the label Mike Patton works with) has to say about Fantomas: "
Fantomas is the brainchild of Mike Patton. The name comes from a series of Hardboiled detective novels. The character Joker is a villain who commits the most appalling crimes. Fantomas is anyone and no one, everywhere and nowhere, waging an implacable war against the bourgeois society in which he moves. The Lord of Terror! The music can only be described as unique. From subtle and precise to brutal and explosive. It is influenced equally by hardcore/death metal, cartoon music and film soundtracks. It is made up of tiny cells of music that move like frames in a comic strip. It is certainly an amalgamation of the bands from which the members come without sounding very much like any one of them "

Beyond those specific bands, Patton's Ipecac label also hosts: Tomahawk, Peeping Tom, Pink Anvil, Kaada, The Young Gods, Moist Boys, Aisis, Phantomsmasher, Dälek, Skeleton Key, Melvins, and more. So, I'll throw this out there: >>

Does anyone here listen to these bands, or have you at least heard of them? I'm always down to trade files 😁. I've downloaded a ton of stuff online, and there is seriously some incredibly interesting and brilliant music in there.
Cheers.🙂

Alright, let's hear your thoughts.
New Ford engine in Formula 1 ·
In my opinion, they could actually pull off a race win even this season. I’m using the word "COULD," mind you—I’m not sitting here saying Ferrari, McLaren, or Williams have to crash out or anything. It just means the stars need to align and they need to stay clear of those damn mechanical failures that always seem to haunt them.

We will see.😉
