Nah, you didn't, and yeah, it's not my place to judge—but since a bunch of mods have already checked your application and nothing happened, I guess you're just sitting there waiting on the admins, huh?
Anyway... good luck with that. 👋
placidorca16 said:Look, I respect your opinion and your right to have it. But if I wanted advice like that, I wouldn't have started this thread. A feminist, obviously, comes in all varieties.

Can you just admit you're wrong when you go hunting for people to get banned over posts like those? That’s all I’m wondering...
And yeah, I'm with you there—there are definitely all kinds of feminists out there.
placidorca16 Look, here’s some straight talk from a feminist who doesn't usually clog up the feminism threads but had to fight tooth and nail just to get a seat at the table in real life. I’ve read through everything you flagged as offensive or punishable, and honestly? I don't see anything worth banning. You really need to chill out and just get on board with the rest of us here.
Does it actually bother you when someone claims women aren't as smart as men? So what! Unless they can back it up with actual studies, they aren't smarter than me. Besides, do you seriously think you can just police what people think? People have the right to be wrong, even if their takes are totally out of touch. Sure, we can call that kind of talk backward, but it's still part of our social reality. What do you actually gain by forcing these things to be banned? Maybe a "more progressive" forum, sure, but it won't make anyone more realistic!
So just relax—you aren't going to turn every single person into a progressive woman. There will always be guys who think they were born superior and that women are just weaker beings in every possible way. You shouldn't waste your energy fighting them; just deal with them in real life, put them in their place, and move on.
Anyway, that's my two cents. Hope you take it to heart.😉
I’m all for this idea, but I honestly don't get why the admins are just throwing around insults instead of actually giving her a straight answer so this whole back-and-forth nonsense can finally die down.
Casey Bennett said:Maybe the reason I don't feel insulted by certain descriptions is simply because they don't apply to me? 🤷
Did that possibility ever cross your mind? 😉

When someone (regardless of whether they are male or female) points out that there are plenty of women who are just plain boring, spending their entire lives glued to soap operas and gossiping, believe me, I won't feel the slightest urge to scream, "How dare you, you misogynist!" because, frankly, it’s the damn truth.

I have no interest in defending or representing anyone just because we share the same chromosomes, and I certainly don't want anyone speaking on behalf of women without my express permission.

Real struggle should be reserved for the disenfranchised, the oppressed, the hungry, and the helpless—regardless of whether we are talking about a child, a woman, a man, or an animal.

To summarize: feminism is, in my opinion, far too narrowly specialized, overly aggressive, and completely devoid of any sense of humor. I won't go so far as to call it fanaticism, but if anyone finds themselves offended by this, I wash my hands of their feelings.

Actually, I don't have an issue with your post—I even agree with most of it—but that one sentence was totally unnecessary. Do you realize what you just said?
If it weren't for the women who fought through history to secure a place in the sun on behalf of all women, you might actually end up being one of those stupid hens wasting your life away on soap operas.
It’s not about whether a specific comment hits home for you personally, because feminism wasn't designed to cater to a few specific women; its whole purpose is to ensure equality for both men and women. Maybe it feels a bit too aggressive for you, but labeling feminists as nothing but "feminazis" and such isn't cool for a forum, no matter how much placidorca16 rants about it...

So, AT&T’s revenue took a massive nosedive in Q2—should we start a charity fundraiser for them too?

Oh, absolutely! Because when you're playing the slots, dropping a chip in is just a simple matter of bread and circuses.😂🤣

Was it just hot air or actually nothing? Does he still think he's got some "ace up his sleeve"?
Is he actually going to apologize to the mods and everyone else on the forum? ☕

Nope. He’s been in a similar spot before and made it crystal clear he doesn't give a damn.

Major props to the moderators for putting up with this crap!

Wait, why are you even coming for me?!

I feel like I’m constantly getting targeted by some random guys online, and honestly, it's starting to get under my skin a little bit😳

Look, I don't know why you're being so biased, and it's really not my place to step in—I wouldn't go assigning blame if I were you—but I'm not the moderator here, so just don't act like you're actually winning some big intellectual debate🙄

All that cash spent and not even a decent spec sheet. What a joke.

Yeah, unfortunately we're fully aware of that... I mean, when you actually hold the flooring in your hands and feel the difference between what he has in his shop versus what actually showed up, it's night and day. 😢
Partly because of all that damaged stock caused by shipping and storage issues, his next move was trying to count how much he had left so he could short us on the install—basically hoping if there wasn't enough to finish the job, we'd just leave one room empty until he gets more, hahaha!

Ashley Mendoza6 said:Look, you have to understand that there is a massive difference between raw lumber and finished flooring. It’s night and day.

So—if he’s showing you a polished, oiled floor in the showroom, don't expect it to look identical to the raw material I’d be hauling over to install for you.😉

Regarding the color: if it looks too pale, we can always tone it down a bit. If it’s looking too red for your taste, I can add more oil. Honestly, natural oak doesn't even come out red on its own, so we usually have to stain it anyway—you could practically make it neon orange if you really wanted to...

The one thing I can't fix, though, is the grade. If you opted for Grade 1 or Grade 2, you shouldn't be seeing heavy knots, insect holes, or major imperfections.

And listen, if he signed off on a delivery range of 0.5 to 2 feet, that doesn't mean every single plank is going to be two feet long. If that were the case, I'd basically be sawing through half a tree just to get three planks! Finding top-tier, premium wood is hard enough in standard lengths, let alone in extra-long pieces...

Unless he actually signed a document explicitly stating, "We will deliver planks between 2 and 3 feet long," I wouldn't go expecting much on that front.

Edit: You end up cutting the flooring at the edges anyway. Having about 30% shorter planks is perfectly fine, provided the room you're working in isn't longer than, say, 50 feet. You're going to have to cut them regardless.

Of course there's a difference... but we aren't talking about raw planks here. This is finished flooring that requires absolutely zero extra finishing work... the deposit paperwork clearly states it's "finished, sanded without beveled edge, model relax."

The guy is actually lying now, acting like he didn't know it would need polishing just so he can try to squeeze more cash out of us, even though his own order explicitly says "finished, sanded."🤣

Heaven knows I haven't been messing with the color or adding any stains... I'm not paying extra for the flooring just so I have to babysit him for another hundred bucks $67 per square foot... no chance!!

Man, he didn't sign off on a single thing for my benefit... it’s not explicitly stated anywhere, but surely there's got to be a section in those flooring specs that lists the available lengths, right?

I swear, I’ve been staring at this screen forever and I still can't find those damn specs anywhere. 🙄

So, like, about 60% of them showed up as these ridiculously massive 6 to 10-foot boards.

So, if you’re looking at a 1,100 square foot place and you end up with like 30% extra flooring just because of all those random 15 to 24-inch gaps... what the hell are we even supposed to do with that? I mean, once you start cutting everything down to fix the waste, what is this thing even going to look like by the time it's finished? Is there actually enough left to make it look decent? 😕 ..

Why does it have to be those specific lengths? You can find premium brands like Bruce or even bamboo and exotic hardwoods for way less money...

😲😲...good grief. Was this somehow custom-made specifically for you guys regarding the dimensions?? You could get way, way better high-end flooring for much less money!

The price tag is insane... honestly, if I were you, I'd be asking for a refund. If he won't budge, call the Better Business Bureau immediately... sent you a DM

The whole reason we went with this specific type is because of those long planks—it’s built with nine layers, which is basically its only selling point right now... everything is about 21mm thick and 20cm wide..
The wood itself looks amazing, though; it's steamed oak with that reddish tint we were looking for, just like the sample we saw at Home Depot...

Well, obviously the price is huge... but that's the "cash discount" price for you..🙂
MAYBE HE THINKS WE'RE EASY TARGETS... BUT HE'LL BE HANDING THAT MONEY BACK ONE WAY OR ANOTHER!

Oh, and one more thing... when we asked to see the product specs, he suddenly couldn't find them, claiming they were left with the shipping company... even though he was bragging earlier about how he could show us the paperwork whenever he wanted. Total joke.

jadedrifter2 said:Maybe try uploading a larger photo next time... which one is the actual flooring you bought versus just the sample, the left or the right? Also, what kind of hardwood are we looking at—what species, how was it finished? And what did it run you? The more details you can throw my way, the better I'll be able to give you an honest assessment of the situation

here’s the high-res version 😉

http://i42.tinypic.com/30lmjgz.jpg

it was supposed to be steamed oak with an oil finish and a high polish... but instead, we got this absolute disaster. the photo doesn't even do it justice, but honestly, if you felt the difference between these two pieces, it would be night and day.
first, he tries to gaslight us into thinking it's the exact same stuff, claiming he'll just "polish it up" a bit for us... then, when he comes back for the second time, he starts making excuses, acting like he doesn't know anything, yet still insists that the floor needs a final polish after installation.. obviously, none of this bullshit was mentioned when we paid the deposit. on top of all that, about 30% of the planks were only half a meter long when they were supposed to be between 6 and 10 feet long... again, totally unmentioned at the start. the flooring showed up without any actual packaging, just tied together with some cheap plastic straps. because they were stacked so poorly during transit, the edges of some boards turned this weird shade—like they'd been sitting out in the California sun or something.
that polished sample he supposedly made for us is the one on the left in the picture, and trust me, it feels nothing like the mess on the right that we actually ordered.

the price per square foot was $297...

jadedrifter2 said:What's the actual difference we're talking about here?? Maybe post a photo—or just drop a link if the company has a website—of the display model versus what was actually bought, just so we can compare them side-by-side

Which flooring are you referring to, and what kind of price point are we looking at?

I already attached a photo to my message 😕 basically, this is how the sample looked at the store compared to what we ended up buying..
Know Your Consumer Rights in Economy ·
Not really sure where to vent about this, so I'm just dropping it here...

So, we went ahead and bought some hardwood flooring based on the sample they had sitting out in the showroom. We even dropped a $30,000 deposit upfront, only for the actual wood to show up looking—in my humble opinion—like a completely different species in terms of quality, finish, and color compared to what we actually ordered. Now the salesman is relentlessly hovering over us, trying to talk us into sticking with it by promising they can just polish it to look like the display model and swearing the color is identical...
What’s the move here? And am I crazy, or can you guys see the massive difference too?
