What do we think about Franz Ferdinand? in Music ·
AJ said:Honestly, who cares about any of that? The real tragedy here is that someone actually stole Slash's hat. 😢 😢 I mean, what is he even supposed to do now... just walk around without his signature look? It's devastating...

Absolute chaos... 🙂

Franz Ferdinand was actually one of my big musical discoveries last year. I even went out and picked up an original CD 😎
The songs themselves are perfectly fine, but once you've sat through ten or fifteen listens, you start to realize they all follow the exact same formula... it’s all very much the same mold.
And honestly, after about ten or fifteen spins, those tracks just don't feel particularly special anymore.

Did anyone catch them performing at the Grammy Awards recently? I mean, I can't quite remember the last time I heard a band sound that out of tune 👎

Why isn't Dr. Gudelj listed on the Harni Clinic website? They only have Dr. Vesna Harni and Dr. Dragica Schmidt mentioned...
Honestly, I really liked how you described this Dr. Gudelj woman—it sounds like she’s exactly the kind of specialist I’d want to see...😁

So, I just got off the phone with my doctor... turns out I have to steer clear of the sauna 😢
And honestly, it isn't even primarily about my asthma—it’s more about my low blood pressure 😢
She was suggesting things like swimming, hitting the weight machines at the gym, and so on... essentially everything I was hoping to bypass by hiding out in the sauna, but apparently, there's no getting out of staying active 😁

My boyfriend has these very set ideas about what constitutes "fun," so we ended up at an outdoor concert in Chicago when it was a crisp -18 degrees... 😁

I mean, we were driving around in an SUV, so it wasn't entirely unbearable, I suppose...

But then he takes me out for some "winter wonderland" excursion, and my feet got so numb I had to huddle up by the fireplace for about four hours just to thaw out...🙂

Your boyfriend should be keeping you warm, not dragging you out into -18 degree weather... 🙂 😁

Hang in there, old friend—we'll make it through this one eventually... 🙂

Yeah, I'm fine... at least it's warm enough in here.
I’m just getting ready to head out soon—though honestly, it’s never quite as freezing as it was this morning when I left, so I'm not too worried about the commute 🙂

Hannah Price3 said:Have you ever experienced this? Because I certainly have—started back when I was about ten years old. 😁 And honestly, there were plenty of times I ended up home in tears over it. I absolutely loathed that advice to "just run your hands under cold water"—it’s never warm water, is it? If it were up to me, I would have just shoved my hands straight into the pot on the stove while lunch was cooking... 😁

I had a similar experience during my childhood whenever my feet got freezing cold.
Once I started getting into sports, things changed—now, whenever I start feeling like I'm "losing touch with reality," 😁 I immediately have to find somewhere to sit down or lie down, and then it usually takes about 10 to 15 minutes to snap out of it.
As for whether it should be cold or warm water... it doesn't really matter to me, since my hands don't seem to register the temperature anyway.😁

Getting off the Manhattan Bridge subway today... goodness, my face was absolutely stinging from the cold. Just pure, biting frost. :2up:

Just to be clear—this is NOT the thread for anyone wanting to wax poetic about the "joys" of a legitimate winter freeze...🙂

I’m being completely serious here...
🙂
And tomorrow? It’ll probably be at least -15 degrees again.
An absolute disaster.🙄

For me, it doesn't really seem to travel from my stomach to the rest of my body... 😁 Which is to say, it does absolutely nothing for my criminally poor circulation.
I don't know... 😢

northernfalcon30 said:boldeagle3, I’m actually wondering how you’re even surviving this winter madness lately—honestly, I thought I was going to collapse yesterday because of how much of a shock it was to my system.😲
How many layers of tights are you wearing? Be honest...😁

Honestly, I don't know how I do it either... today morning was just absolutely ghastly.😢
And I still have to take the Manhattan Bridge subway and then transfer to a bus. Let me tell you, when you step off that subway in the morning, the wind just cuts right through you—left, right, everywhere—it's brutal!
It’s always a total gamble for me. The longer I spend out in this temperature, the more my hands and feet just freeze up and ache from the cold... it gets to the point where I feel like I might actually lose consciousness. If I stayed out at -15 degrees for even half an hour, I’d definitely pass out.
As for the tights, I just wear one pair of tights under some thick socks and boots... and even then, my legs still freeze.😁
I can't really layer up any more than that, otherwise I end up cutting off what little circulation I have left...😬

urbanseal6 said:Hey, I stumbled upon this little link about saunas:

sauna

Hopefully, this helps a bit! 😉

Thanks 🙂
Here’s what I managed to dig up:
"Saunas improve blood circulation in the airways, making them an excellent preventive measure against sinus congestion, colds, and the flu. They also help relax the bronchi, which can ease breathing for those suffering from asthma. However, in cases of acute asthma flare-ups, they are not recommended."

God knows if my situation counts as "acute"... 😁
Regardless, I really ought to check in with my doctor first—since I struggle with low blood pressure, and apparently, people with that condition are supposed to consult a professional before trying this stuff...

I really don't want to clutter the board with yet another thread over this one specific question... but is a sauna actually dangerous for people with asthma?
I was standing outside a spa the other day, and there it was, emblazoned right on the door: 100°C 😲
When the humidity hits a certain level out here in the States, I can barely catch my breath—so how am I supposed to handle that...?
Is the physiological reaction different? Honestly, a sauna sounds like just the thing for my pathetic circulation, but...

northernfalcon30 said:boldeagle3, just grab some chili powder—you know, that red stuff—and stir in as much as you want into hot cocoa... boom, instant kick! Personally, I find it delicious, though when I whip it up for the kids, I keep it pretty mild since they aren't quite ready for the heat yet. Actually, it’s even better if you make the cocoa from scratch using something like Hershey's dark cocoa powder... less sugar that way. Mix it with some skim milk and you won't have to worry about the scale moving upward!
I'm dead serious—anything spicy gets the heart racing and all that, you know the drill... the only thing that actually speeds up is your metabolism, which helps you stay lean!😁

For me, getting a seat on the Manhattan Bridge subway is a lifesaver... because if I'm standing, I completely lose all sensation from the cold—so much for being elegant!😁

You probably won't believe me, but if you slather on a decent nourishing body milk after your shower, you'll actually feel warmer—trust me, I've tried it!
Don't laugh at me now.
🙂

When things get really rough, just remember being stuck on a subway during a heatwave... you know, mid-afternoon when the car is packed, the metal frame is scorching, and everyone is just dripping with sweat...😁

I might give the chili thing a shot, but since I can't handle spice very well 😁 we'll see 😁
And what was that you said about SITTING on the subway? I'm always sitting... there's no way I'm standing if there's a free chair available 😁
At first, I thought you were talking about just stepping onto the train... as if it's somehow warmer inside than outside... please, forget it, the temperature swings just wreck me 😁
That moisturizing after the shower thing does help circulation... I shouldn't laugh 🙂

As for that last part, I can handle the heat way easier than the cold... 😢

Hopping on the Manhattan Bridge subway—where your feet finally start thawing out after a few minutes...
Layering up—but not in that "bulky winter coat" kind of way. I find I’m much warmer if I just throw on an undershirt or a tight microfiber tank top (since they actually hug the skin!) under a slightly thinner layer😁. It works better than bundling up, plus my favorite coats aren't really cut to accommodate a dozen layers of extra gear.
Sliding into some stylish boots paired with double sets of thin, calf-high socks.
And finally... losing my cool entirely.😁

(my own authorization)😉

Good grief, where on earth am I supposed to find hot cocoa with chili in this city?🤔 😁
As for that bit about your feet thawing out on the subway? Depends on you, I suppose—mine certainly don't work that way...😁
The rest makes sense, though.😉

Hannah Price3 said:The temperature shift is just massive—if I walk in after a long stretch where nobody's been using it, the air feels incredibly dry and stiflingly hot... then suddenly, someone walks in right behind me, splashes water on the stones, and the whole thing turns into a literal furnace. That intense, humid heat just suffocates me, making it impossible to stay in there for very long.

Yeah, a sauna is definitely NOT my scene😢
How cool are mustaches? in Miscellaneous ·
Michelle Chase3 said:Look, I think this kind of sweeping generalization is a bit much—suggesting that anyone with a mustache is automatically crazy, primitive, or dim-witted! That’s definitely not the case...

Well, I never actually claimed that... I simply suggested that your environment plays a role in your psychological development.
If you were raised in an environment where facial hair was the norm and no one ever told you a mustache was anything less than acceptable, you’d likely view it as just another minor detail on your face, wouldn't you? Capiche? 😉
