Just please don't bring up The Little Prince, oh boy...😁
Kyle Jackson54 said:Hot Chip
Sons & Daughters

Last year, my heart was set on two major headliners (SY and !!!) plus one "smaller" act (The Hold Steady). This year, though, I was really leaning toward the matinee lineup (The Go! Team, Hot Chip, Sons & Daughters) more than I was looking forward to seeing Nick Cave...

Take a seat, Friday. 🙂
Nick Blitz can go ahead and play dice if he wants! 🙏

If you haven't seen a hot chip, you must be a total donkey. 🙂

There was no way around it, so I explained the reasoning behind it and that 🙂
There is only one Karl-Heinz...
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge!
Arthur Garcia59 said:It’s not even about trying to track down a Makavejev film, because with the Criterion Collection release out there, they're actually pretty easy to get hold of compared to other stuff... It’s more about the fact that we're talking about Makavejev on a massive scale...

That might be more for you advanced folks. For those of us coming in later, it was just interesting to actually watch a film we’d only ever read about... to finally form our own opinion...
Arthur Garcia59 said:Slavoj Žižek had a few things to say about John Carpenter, and honestly, the film they’re screening is just... $9.75 Just hit the stands...

I missed Slavoj Žižek because I was stuck at a capitalist Cinestar watching some modern horror flick. I actually went to see the John Carpenter film just because the company was great, and honestly, I still hadn't caught it even though it hits newsstands everywhere every third Tuesday... But I ended up walking out about a third of the way through. The anti-subversive vibe from the person sitting next to me was physically and mentally draining, so we decided to head out for some salty snacks and beer instead...
They aren't sold out, what are you guys talking about?
Amanda Lopez50 said:...I was just sitting here thinking that staying home to catch the LP finale instead of seeing Mystery might have been a mistake...😳

edit: actually, it wasn't a mistake—the game is absolutely beautiful😍
...but tomorrow, we're heading toward Slavoj Žižek👋 😍

I was thinking the exact opposite. 😁 I honestly figured catching a replay of the game would be way easier than hunting down a Makavejev film online somewhere...

Today is all about Slavoj Žižek and John Carpenter. 🙂
Arthur Garcia59 said:... but I noticed quite a few people gave up halfway through the screening. Honestly, I don't think there was ever a screening where at least 10 people didn't walk out... so I just don't get those intense types who show up only to leave immediately because they didn't bother to check what was actually playing?

That’s exactly what I’ve never understood. I guess people just want to be seen, to be able to say "I was there," or something... and then they suffer for it. 🙂

Tonight is "Mystery," me happy. 🙂 I haven't seen it yet.
The melody or the rhythm that makes you sway, groove, move, or just toss yourself off a bridge...
The lyrics where I’m basically speaking through someone else’s mouth

And one spoonful of Maggi seasoning

There’s actually one more category that sits entirely outside the rules and can't really be judged
That is when/if I tie something emotionally to a specific person or thing
In which case, every single rule goes right out the window...

Christian Garcia70 said:I don't really bother much with American film critics. Honestly, I watch such a massive volume of movies that I rarely miss anything significant....
I suppose I have a bit of a refined palate when it comes to cinema, and it isn't exactly easy to stumble upon that one "perfect" film for me...

In just the last month alone, I’ve powered through nearly 50 films. So, if anyone out there is actually looking for a solid recommendation.... I'm right here. Just shoot me a message.... Thanx!!

Well, you certainly have sophisticated taste.

Oh, definitely.

Susan Torres7 said:I’ve heard nothing but praise for this movie, but the comments are actually pretty unsettling since everyone seems so shaken up after watching it. I’m wondering, is it really that terrifying?

It isn't a remake.
I haven't had a chance to see the original yet, and honestly, I didn't even know it existed. 😕
But I guess that makes sense...
Marić overpaid at The Cave, so now he’s totally broke...

It’s a shame because, besides being out of cash, he’s completely clueless.
If he actually had some sense, he could easily talk ten different bands into playing for peanuts just to sell out a show.

Someone should point him toward the latest new National Park...
Or maybe that one thread where we were all suggesting bands for a concert.
I'm putting a ticket up for sale...
🙂

... if things continue this way.
I've already got my ticket, so I'm ready to go beat them from the get-go 🙂

Apologies for going off-topic; did you add "(The Station Agent)" to the title? I don't recall seeing it there last night... 🤔

Finbar, Olivia, and Joe are just sitting there on the porch, sipping drinks, lounging around, and staying quiet. 😁
They're sharing the solitude, just like someone so beautifully put it. 🙂

Maybe it just felt like you missed the ending; that's actually how the film wraps up.
I think they just cut to commercials so abruptly that I also thought I had missed the finale at first.

Unless I'm mistaken...
We are talking about this, right?

Oh, you mean that cute little Black waiter with the wild, edgy hairstyle? The one who's clearly on his own wavelength!

So, last night over at Route 66, people were starting to get a bit worked up about some rumors regarding a closure... Nobody actually knows if there's any truth to it, right, Tony? It looks like it might just be a wild goose chase. At least, I hope so...

But man, it was packed until late. A huge crowd showed up, looking just like a little biker/metal meetup... 😁 🙂
