Christian Wilson81 said:Hey, does anyone know if any flower shops around here rent out vases? We need some tall ones, and buying them all would be way too expensive 😢
Just how many vases are we talking about here? Are you looking for those towering ones, like something you'd see at a fancy cocktail party in Manhattan??

Marino Photography - San Diego
he's got a Facebook page, so just go take a look at his work there.

I'm just not sure if I'm stuck with getting a cake from the specific bakery my mother-in-law keeps pushing because she's being difficult. I'll have to look into that.
Look, you aren't tied down to whatever specific bakery your boss recommends; almost every local shop offers delivery, and they can all drop off whatever kind of cake you want to one single location.

Where can I find some decent cakes and pastries without getting absolutely robbed—I mean, looking for reasonable prices here—and also, how much lead time do I actually need to give them before I need the order?
Well, you still have Viade; as far as I know, they’re the most budget-friendly option per pound. $12 They have their little stand at the farmer's market, plus their storefront right near the ExxonMobil station, and their bakery is located right off the main highway just past the gas station. I’ve picked up plenty of cakes and treats from them over the years, and honestly, they’re fantastic.

Didn't Panda tell you at the last tailgate party that you should just grab everything at once?
Personally, I’m not a huge fan of those little strips because every time I’ve been out to a few parties, every single one of them has peeled off or fallen apart; I know they’re supposedly easy to apply, but if you try using those tiny little scraps, forget about it—though, honestly, those small ones might actually work okay for me.

Honestly, some of the local florists have really bumped up their prices lately, but I totally get where they're coming from, seeing as they're running small family businesses...
Honestly, those flower shops just push their prices straight into the stratosphere... isn't it just wonderful that you managed to find a better deal? I guess all it takes is a little bit of digging to find the same quality without breaking the bank, right? Good luck with everything!

Also, does anyone happen to know where that girl is hanging out with Victoria?
Just factor in that if your bouquet is $167, the car decorations alone will probably run you at least $67, and who knows what the centerpieces might cost?
Everything really hinges on what kind of flowers you're actually looking for, doesn't it? You might want to spend a bit more time browsing the local florists or maybe checking out those independent wedding decorators who work out of their home studios.

velvetfalcon57 said:Hey everyone! Does anyone happen to know what the going rate is for Krakun? Seriously, I’ve been seeing them all over my feed lately—everyone is raving about them! I haven't actually had the chance to catch one of their sets live yet, but man, they sound absolutely incredible online. I'm actually thinking about booking them to perform at a little reception I'm hosting for some guests, but I am totally lost when it comes to what these kinds of gigs usually cost... any leads would be amazing! THANKS SO MUCH IN ADVANCE!🙂
You should probably just ask Jack Murphy7; he'll give you the lowdown on everything.

can anyone help me pick a makeup artist??? I’m seriously losing my mind here... I'm stuck between Ana Benzon and Lucija Spajić. Both get rave reviews on the forums. Does anyone have actual experience with them? And if anyone could slide some photos my way, that would be absolutely amazinggggg :-

getting married in my 9th month out here in San Francisco, and we still haven't picked a band. local options are pricey and honestly pretty mid... anyone have recommendations for bands from LA? starting to panic a little
If you look at the beginning of the thread, there are plenty of links to various groups... what exactly are you looking for? A duo, a trio?

My fiancée and I have decided we want to host our wedding in San Diego this year. However, there are still plenty of unknowns hanging over us—specifically whether it’s actually realistic to pull off the full ceremony exactly how we want it within a six-month window (since we were aiming for early September).
To get specific, we're looking for recommendations regarding venues, photographers, live bands, and lodging for out-of-town guests, among other things.
If you could go into some detail—think pricing, actual quality of service, etc.—that would be great.
P.S.
Is it even possible to find a high-quality band, venue, photographer, and the rest for a September date—considering we're already at the end of March—without settling for bottom-tier, mediocre options?
If you scroll back through this thread just a little bit, you'll find plenty of advice specifically for San Diego.
Finding a solid band is definitely doable depending on your taste, so just pick a date in September and start calling around to see who's available.
But honestly, you really need to get moving on the organization right this second.

Gregory Cook79 said:Does anyone have any good leads on dance studios or maybe some private instructors around here? MM and I really need to polish up a few moves before we're ready 😁 Thanks! 😉
There's something running out of the local elementary school, though I can't recall the specific name of the program; why not just swing by and ask around? You might even find a flyer posted on the door.

If you end up on Manhattan Island, maybe look for Holy Cross. As for the Coastal Cities, there’s a new spot called Castello just past the park in the Old Palace right by the water, or maybe Baltena—depends on what kind of vibe you're actually after.
I actually need a recommendation for a cake. I was thinking about hitting up the Mississippi Delta, but they really let me down with their service. 🤷

Olivia Lee5 said:Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't think that's going to work for us. Honestly, the food there has been absolutely incredible for quite some time now... 😉
So, look... I was there last year and they were fine by me, nothing to write home about, but nothing bad either.
Does the location have to be right by the coast in the San Francisco Bay Area for it to count?

Ladies (and guys, if any of you are lurking), I could really use some advice..
I'm looking for the perfect spot for an elopement, maybe around 40 to 50 guests, somewhere in the San Francisco Bay Area. For the ceremony, we’d love to do something religious—perhaps at a Stafilics chapel (maybe near Our Lady of Loreto, the biblical garden, or a local parish church), or even something in Savannah near the waterfront cathedral. We need a beautiful location, either right by the water or with a stunning view, that has enough space for a live band and a dance floor (doesn't matter if it's indoors or outdoors). I'm not really looking for a traditional banquet hall; I'd much prefer a charming little restaurant or a cozy bistro. It's going to be a biker-themed wedding.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
We are still debating whether to go with this smaller group or scale up to a larger wedding (around 150 people max). Either way, we are aiming for late May or early June 2012...

gentlepilot9 said:So, I just got back from the bridal expo, and honestly, I spent most of my time wandering around checking out all the little extras because I’ve actually already checked the venue, the photographer, and the DJ off my list... I was mostly interested in
jewelry, specifically, so I picked up a few discount vouchers to go hit up some local boutiques downtown. As for the flowers, I haven't really figured out what a decent wedding bouquet should cost around $167... what do you guys think? To me, it feels a bit like
they're overcharging just because they slap the word "wedding" on everything—if it were just a regular bouquet, it would probably be way more affordable, right? But overall, it was a decent experience. Just a heads-up if anyone else is just starting their planning process: watch out for those vendors who make big promises but don't really deliver on the details
It really all depends on the kind of bouquet you're dreaming of, but I'd say you can probably find something basic for about $150, and then it goes from there. Personally, the flower prices at the expo totally caught me off guard—every single vendor gave me the same old line about how it "depends on the season" or "this specific bloom is hard to get," which wasn't exactly impressive

crimsonsailor2 said:Hoping I don't come down with something before tomorrow. Feeling a bit under the weather 😢
Yeah, I’m also wondering who all is exhibiting. How long does it take to hit every booth at this expo? I'm short on time, but I'd love to see everything 😁
Is everyone offering discounts, or is that just wishful thinking? Anything from the formal wear or bakery sections?
p.s. Looks like I finally found a photographer. Stipe Marinović (he has his own site)—I expected him to be way more expensive, but I really dig his work 🙂 I was planning on vetting every single photographer at the show, but honestly, I'm too exhausted to keep looking 😁
Are most exhibitors based out of San Francisco and the surrounding area, or are people coming in from further away? 😁
It would be such a shame to miss out, and I’m personally hoping to head over there today as well... though, if you plan on stopping at every single booth to look at photos and ask questions, you could easily spend two hours wandering the whole floor
From what I understand, some vendors offer discounts while others certainly do not; for formal wear, there's Gena and a few others whose names I can't quite recall right now
As for photographers, you'll see names like Photo Marko, Photo California, Photo Brzica, Photo Mladen, and Photo Toni
Regarding bakeries, they have Mediterranean and Delta
Plus, there are plenty of jewelers, shoe salons, hair stylists, and a few florists (though, frankly, those flowers didn't impress me much and were overpriced)

Charles Gomez4 said:Quick question—are there any jewelry stores around here, and do they offer any discounts? Also, which bridal boutiques are showing their collections?
From what I gather, a few of them offer those typical trade show discounts, and as for the wedding dresses, you've got La Perla, Sposa, and Galic—I think that covers the main players, though there might be a few others hiding in the wings.
There are also fashion shows scheduled for 12:00 and 5:00 today, and then again tomorrow, though if you ask me, last night's show wasn't exactly anything to write home about.
