I feel like that sense of affection Enchantress was talking about isn't actually dependent on "love." Think about it—when you get into a fight with your best friend over something stupid, it doesn't have to be some massive blowout. You might not want to hang out with them for a bit, but if you’re truly tight, even when you're pissed off, you still know deep down that you care about them. Even if you won't admit it in the heat of the moment... or think back to being kids and fighting with your brother or sister; you never actually convinced yourself that you didn't love them, at least not for long.

Not everyone is dear to me, but I try my best not to actively dislike people... at least as a starting point.

I think "affection" is a much more accurate way to describe how I feel about humanity than saying I "love" people. 😉

Loving the concept of humanity as an ideal? That’s easy—anyone can do that. The real challenge is actually liking every single individual person. Can you really say you love people if you don't care for every single person out there? Personally, I can't love everyone. At most, I try to offer acceptance, and even that can be a struggle sometimes. 😉
