Acupuncture and weight loss in Health ·
Hey ladies!
There are so many different types of acupuncture and alternative weight loss methods out there. I remember seeing a thread here a while back about the emperor and his specific approach to acupuncture. I’m curious—what are the actual, objective benefits of using this method to lose weight? Does it actually work, or is it mostly just a placebo effect?
Does acupuncture truly help curb your appetite, or is it just in your head? And what are the downsides?

Thanks in advance,
asa
Metabolism capsules in Health ·
Hey ladies!
There are so many different weight loss pills on the market these days—some are pretty mild, while others can be downright dangerous. I was wondering if anyone here has actually tried Metabolism? How does it work for you? Does it cause any side effects? Is it legit, or is it just someone selling snake oil?

Which pills have actually worked for you without making you feel terrible? Personally, I wouldn't touch Reductil; it really messes with your hormone balance.

I can’t say the evening was particularly beautiful, but it was definitely the perfect vibe to sit down and watch Amelia after everyone kept raving about it. I don't know—maybe it's just me—but this is one of those rare films that actually managed to touch something deep inside me, something most movies just can't reach. Though, honestly, maybe it's just my specific brand of weirdness. A few years back, back when late-night movie marathons were a staple on American cable TV, they used to air stuff that actually hit home for me (think things like *Chasing Amy* or *There's No Fish Food in Heaven*). I'm not talking about those massive blockbusters that sweep up 167 Oscars through flashy directing or over-the-top scripts; I mean those movies where the director's vision, the choice of locations, and those quirky, eccentric shots just resonate with someone like me—and probably some of you too.
To respond to the post by Edward Robinson6 asking, "Did the movie Amelia make you a better person?"—my answer is a short "no." However, if you're asking if watching it made me realize things in a completely different way? Then yes.

For those two hours, I was totally relaxed, just chilling out with a cherry soda and swaying in my chair. It was absolutely worth the watch, even though plenty of people have claimed this movie was engineered just to be a crowd-pleaser. Of course, no film is truly made to please just one individual, nor is any film designed to satisfy the entire masses; there's always a spectrum. But honestly, going into a movie already convinced it's going to be bad doesn't create any tension or desire to watch—it just kills the mood. Some of you will definitely relate to that.

If I started listing every single part of the movie I loved... we'd be here all night. But let's talk about how they introduced each character—how he loves this, she loves the sound of a glass hitting a table, the cat loves listening to stories, and so on. It was hilarious, and I found bits of myself in so many of those quirks. Like that part where someone unplugs the antenna right in the middle of the big game... 🙂 And then there's the mystery of the "guy who can't handle the aging process," that repairman, which caught my interest—not to mention Amelia and her mysterious collector of discarded photos (and the collector of fingerprints 🙂)...
Anyway, to keep it brief, this is one of the best films I've seen lately, purely because of the specific moods and feelings that bubbled up at certain moments. Amelia is such a charming girl—she feels like the embodiment of life's beauty, inner peace, and genuine happiness. At least, that's how it felt to me.

For me, this movie was a total knockout. 🙂

P.S. Dante... I don't know why, but I also have this habit of grabbing screenshots from movies I watch. There were plenty of great ones here. I don't know what it is, but that moment where Amelia finds out that Gina and the "man with the plastic bag" 🙂 left together—that look in her eyes... there was this strange, beautiful glow. It felt incredibly real.

Cheers

Total garbage.

Look, everyone has their own taste. I don't really listen to Justin Timberlake, but I still respect him as an artist. And Ida, honestly, most of the stuff you listen to makes me want to gag—so what? We’re just different. 🙄
Forget all those people telling you it's "cute."
Maybe it's charming when you're a kid, but once you hit your 40s, it starts feeling a bit ridiculous, and honestly, people struggle to take you seriously.
The bottom line is that it bothers YOU! That’s why I’d really suggest seeing a speech therapist—they can definitely help. Sure, you might not get a Hollywood-perfect accent, but your "r" sounds will sound way more natural.
I have a friend who struggles with his "r"s, and if I'm being honest, it's pretty tough to listen to. People he meets for the first time often have no idea what he's saying, though I've gotten used to it by now.
Look, if some guy who can't pronounce his "r"s tried to flirt with me, he'd definitely lose points in my book, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that way. You even mentioned yourself how embarrassing it feels around women sometimes; if you fix this, your confidence is going to skyrocket. Just GO TO A SPEECH THERAPIST! Seriously, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain!

Sending you love—don't sweat it too much, because this is totally fixable!
And you are definitely NOT too old to see a specialist!

I’ve realized that Americans never actually bother memorizing phone numbers.

"Hey, who's this?
Oh, it's you, honey!" and stuff like that.

ha ha.....I mean, come on, those guys are huge stars. They deserve to be paid top dollar... otherwise, you won't see them step foot on stage! 😁 😉

Look, you're telling me... it's the truth. If he actually set a reasonable price for the show, they wouldn't even be allowed to jack the ticket costs up that much. But since he’s already setting such a massive baseline, the promoter has to hike their end too, right? Just so they can actually make a profit... 🙄

btw...Gibby really went overboard this time. His ticket for the show in Atlantic City was $120... damn, what is he even thinking... 🙄

Based on some of our recent 😁 critics' 😲 takes, I’ve come to realize that Americans back in the 90s just didn't have a sense of humor. Honestly, they didn't have much of a knack for filmmaking either...😁

I’ve noticed that Americans in movies never actually eat the food they order at restaurants.

This movie is absolutely stunning! I don't want to be unfairly harsh or superficial in my critique after experiencing something so beautiful and profoundly real. This isn't just some fairy tale.
