Smells Like Teen Spirit said:man, you hit the nail on the head! you're one of the few people I know who actually sees this clique for what it really is. those total hillbillies just post whatever random nonsense pops into their heads, totally oblivious to how incredibly stupid they look. even when they try to be edgy or throw insults at certain groups, it just makes them look clueless.

they're absolute garbage! they'll scroll through some website, rip off a bit of content, slap a few of their own words on it, and call it "writing." honestly, the music is probably the only thing they're good at, and even then, it's just another way for them to show off how dim they are! 👎

I get what you mean. their taste in music is trash, but they are definitely entertaining (especially those photos, damn!)😉

Matthew Doyle73 said:hmm... Queen 😛

I’d suggest checking out Weird Al Yankovic - Bohemian Polka 🙂

But seriously... Queen actually did a comeback a few years ago when remixing their hits into rap versions. Was that not disruptive enough for you guys? Or do some of you feel like the late guy isn't spinning fast enough in his grave? 😛

His personal life doesn't matter; what matters is what he gave to the fans, those legendary concerts, and one of the greatest voices to ever exist.
The fact that he was gay has absolutely zero impact on his fans. Honestly, if everyone had a voice like his, we wouldn't care who they were sleeping with! At the end of the day, we listen to the music, we don't sleep with them!!!
🙂

I am just not a fan of any Queen remixes. I actually have a CD at home with various dance versions of their tracks, and oh my god, they sound absolutely terrible! 🙂

Hey panon! You’re one of the few people I know who actually sees through the cliques just like I do. Those low-life trolls just type whatever random nonsense pops into their heads, completely oblivious to how incredibly stupid they look. Sometimes they even go as far as dropping offensive remarks about certain groups or scouts.

And a piece of shit! They’ll glance at a webpage, scrape a bit of content, toss in a couple of their own words, and call it an article—it’s total garbage. Honestly, their music is probably the only place where they can truly showcase how clueless they really are! 👎

Queen are absolute legends... I was just reading an article in Rolling Stone... there was this one interesting comment, but honestly, I’ve come to expect this kind of stuff from them. Queen—they stayed on stage way too long, like 25 years too long. 😲

God dammit, do these people have any musical taste at all, or do they just live to talk trash? I dunno. 🙄
I don't actually listen to Queen, but damn, I respect them. What Freddie accomplished is incredible. The whole band is easily one of the greatest groups of all time.

Robert Cooper41 said:btw, "All or Nothing" was easily in my top three from last year. Honestly, it might be a good idea to suggest that people who haven't even sat through a single Mike Leigh movie before shouldn't bother watching this one. 😉
It’s crystal clear that the setting where the characters live isn't actually the point of the movie... I mean, they even threw in that scene with the Frenchwoman in the taxi just for those who might be confused—she acts all condescending toward the "driver," only to immediately start venting about how her son won't call her back anymore.

I'm glad you had some thoughts on the movie's controversial themes too. 😉 🙂))

Or, as Phil would put it: "Who knows why it's a good thing that people don't like this movie?" 😁

Did I miss something here? 😕 🙄

Jessica Nguyen85 said:To be honest, the only time social status even comes into play in this movie is during his encounter with the Frenchwoman. It’s really only a factor because they come from such different worlds.

If a director is being that stingy with their vision, you might as well skip the movie entirely.

What grade is this kid in? 😁

Hey, you can't seriously tell me you aren't familiar with his work, right? 😉

Regarding that chase scene... honestly, that's the one thing I would cut from the movie.

Michelle Howard2 said:There’s something incredibly grating about arrogant ignorance, but honestly, maybe nothing is worse than arrogant expertise. Just watch how Professor Mickey talks down to people when he starts lecturing on... Apropos Bergman:

Your reasons are totally valid, Mary. (The fact that she just doesn't love Bergman like she used to...)

Or even better.
It’s actually pretty great how you have such a down-to-earth, layman's take on Bergman.

Michelle Howard2, I don't think Mickey meant for this to come across as bad! Take me, for example—I read plenty of popular science books, but at the end of the day, I'm still just a layman when it comes to actual science. If I were in some debate about Schrödinger's cat and a physicist told me it was super that I had such a layperson's approach to QM, I definitely wouldn't take it as an insult.

Look, if you’ve spent several years studying a specific field and you actually work in that industry—in this case, the movie business—you can pretty much bet on the fact that you’re going to have a deeper understanding than someone who just watches movies for fun on the weekend.
When you study cinema, they drill critical analysis into your brain. It’s like Mickey once thought it was super to just watch a movie as pure escapism, but once you've been trained, you can't help but see every single frame through that analytical lens. You lose that ability to actually relax and just let the story take over.

If that isn’t the definition of a disgusting, arrogant, patronizing ex-dean approach, I don't know what is. And this is coming from someone the professor is actually being kind to! In one of those classic ex-dean power trips, Mickey starts throwing these completely off-topic exam questions at her like, "So, what do you think about Tarkovsky?" or "What movies are you into lately? (Keep it brief, though)." Pay close attention to that "brief" part. You can totally feel the condescension in his tone. He’s basically just sitting there waiting for her to beg him for a passing grade.

Honestly, I think you’re projecting here... it's the exact same thing Mickey did back when he posted on your thread about film critics... Mickey wrote: Short. I mean, let's be real—this wasn't exactly a thread meant for discussing Tarkovsky or those kinds of movies... just trying to make sure we don't drift too far off topic.

I feel like people keep trying to tell me exactly why I should or shouldn't love someone. Legit. Or maybe the Movie God is just blessing me with my own ignorance. laymanHonestly, I feel like I'd just grab him by the throat and squeeze until I saw his eyes start rolling back in his head like that. 🙄

From what I can tell, Mary didn't feel insulted at all... I honestly don't know why you took it personally. If anything, it feels like you're implying you don't actually have a strong opinion on Mary's film knowledge, especially since you chose to frame Mickey's questions as arrogant and patronizing instead of just seeing them for what they were. She didn't even give him a proper comeback.

I have to hand it to Mickey—his knowledge is impressive—but showing off like that just comes across as totally uncool and like a total nerd.

People are saying you leave the exact same impression. 😉

Seriously, give me a break...

Hey, Mickey, just be clear—what exactly counts as spamming this forum? I want to make sure I stay on the right side of the rules!!

You probably shouldn't have said that. Now you can look forward to reading through all the official forum guidelines.

blueranger12 said:So, what do you guys think of my review?!? Yeah, I wrote one—just scroll up a bit. Let's actually talk about the movie... unless I wrote too much and you're all just too lazy to read it?!

What you wrote isn't even a review, it's just a plot summary (and a pretty bad one at that)... and yeah, Titanic is a total piece of shit. 🙂
All or Nothing in Movies ·
White, it’s honestly mind-blowing how little you actually know about movies, yet you try so hard to act like an expert when you're clearly clueless....Were you bullied as a kid or something? Is that why you have this weirdly masochistic urge to be a jerk?

Okay, he definitely crossed the line this time... I mean, Luke actually told him not to hang out with me because he said I'm a bad influence.😁

Seriously, where does this patronizing arrogance from White come from?

And now I could tell you that you're being incredibly stupid if you haven't realized that the movie depicts the absolute worst parts of London, because it DOES...

It feels like White is just arrogantly forcing his opinion on everyone as if it's the only truth... but if I had to choose between sheer arrogance and actual film knowledge, I'd pick Mickey every single time.🙂))) It's obvious that Mickey and a few others are the ones who actually live and breathe cinema (even if I don't see eye-to-eye with him regarding Insomnia 😉)).🙂))

I wouldn't even trust White with my pet parrot... let alone ask him to teach me how to pronounce Titanic...🙄 😁

Michelle Howard2 said:That’s just not right. I wasn't reacting to Mickey because of him personally; I was reacting because that kind of "know-it-all" attitude kills any actual conversation. If the "authorities" here immediately shut someone down the second they step out of line, who's actually going to feel safe sharing a different perspective? As for Vuce, I jumped in because his behavior was pretty much mirroring Mickey's—being overly aggressive and forcing his views on everyone while insulting anyone who disagrees. Let's look past what movie we're talking about or whose side we're on based on whether we agree with a specific take. The real issue here is *how* we discuss things. Everyone has a right to their opinion—even if it's a stupid one—but nobody has the right to be a jerk about it or insult others. Even if you're 100% right, being an asshole doesn't make it okay. So, I'm not trying to defend some aesthetic theory; I'm trying to defend the basic principle of having a decent discussion. That's why I got involved in both cases, even though I haven't actually seen 🙂 and since it involves the moderators.

I wouldn't say Mickey's approach was anything to write home about either... but your involvement here felt pretty one-sided. You completely ignored words like moron and stupid used in Vajtin's posts. And yeah, I totally agree that everyone is entitled to their own opinion... but I also have the right to state my belief that White isn't understood in this film. Of course, I should back it up with arguments... which is exactly what I've been doing.
🙂

Michelle Howard2 said:If I can jump in here as an outsider, I’d say this has been a really solid, deep discussion. 👍 Honestly, it wouldn't have gotten this interesting without White. 🙂

I don't know if you're actually an outsider or not, 😉...but I definitely agree we've leveled up this boring little subforum. Usually, posts here are just stuff like... "Just saw some movie, 2/10, skip it..." or "That flick was amazing, loved the lead actress, check it out..." 🙄

Taylor Cruz7, who exactly beat me and where? 😳 😠 🙂 😁

Michelle Howard2 said:Yeah, you nailed it. 😢 My excuse was that I was just trying to defend Innocence on principle without taking sides, but let’s be real—White, when Blue Eyes speaks, the debate is over. She's just always right. It's frustrating, but it's the truth. 🙏

Nah, you were just sucking up to White just to avoid agreeing with Mickey... don't tell me the same person who attacked Vuce for having zero "taste" when it comes to movies... is suddenly defending that exact same lack of taste...

I'm not into people playing games with me... or bowing down 🙏 ...I want an actual, reasoned debate with people who hold different views... but after dealing with White, I know that's just not happening... 🙄
Carlos Santana in Music ·
ruggedjackal46 said:Look at it this way—when you first start listening, you honestly can't tell the songs apart.

But... like I said, if it sounded any different, it wouldn't even be Santana. He actually chose to collaborate with all those differenticons on Supernatural because his guitar tone has always been his signature. I'm not saying it's bad or anything, just consistent.🙂

slyrider16 said:Haha, this totally reminded me of something. I was reading this little booklet recently (part of a festival program) where some guy—maybe it was Peterlic? Honestly, who cares—completely mixed up Star Wars with 2001: A Space Odyssey. You just don't see mistakes like that from people who actually know their cinema.😛

That’s a bit of a low blow... I mess up sometimes too... I'll say right when I mean left... though, okay fine, I *actually* know my left from my right. I bet even Peterlic had a brain fart once or twice. But look at White—he didn't just mix them up, he genuinely BELIEVED Bergman directed 8 1/2... he wasn't just wrong, he truly thought it was true!

I know you love it. 😉 You were the first one to come at me... you actually wrote that if someone doesn't think "Stealing Beauty" is a good movie, they basically don't understand cinematic art. 😁 So, now White has shown up to play defender. 😁 Unlike White... your film knowledge has actually gotten a lot better. 😉 🙂))

Michelle Howard2 said:Man, even we act like moderators sometimes. But who’s going to moderate us?! Liberatore is probably flying back to the USA right about now. (We were grabbing coffee yesterday and had a great chat about the movie.) Mickey, I’ve got a feeling you aren't actually this much of a bore in person. Please tell me I'm wrong.

Just a quick reminder, this thread is specifically for "All or Nothing"

Mickey is definitely not a bore, and I bet you aren't either 😉 🙂))

I honestly think if you two met in real life, you'd totally geek out over movies together... I just don't know what your current favorite is right now??? 🙄 😢

Michelle Howard2 said:Mickey, seriously, stop digging yourself into this hole. Honestly, on that other thread, you came across as totally clueless—just shallow, dense, and full of hot air. It’s like I have to explain everything twice just for you to get the point...

I agree that Mickey probably left that kind of impression on that specific thread... but you're dragging him into this one now using personal attacks, and you haven't even seen the movie yet...
