We already have "East being eastern," which is way better. When it comes to "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," the biggest letdown is definitely the casting for the male lead. John Corbett was only somewhat tolerable back in "Life in the North." The opening of the movie actually looked promising, but things just sort of fizzled out halfway through. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give it a shaky 4.👎
Honestly, this movie is strictly for little kids... I don't know, I haven't heard anything good about it, and after going to see it in theaters, I actually felt bad about wasting my money on a ticket...
ARE WE MOVING FORWARD OR BACKWARD? THAT’S THE REAL QUESTION NOW
The President recently claimed that life in America has actually improved significantly under this current administration—he just thinks we’re too blind to notice it. Meanwhile, look at the reality on the ground: endless strikes, massive protests across the country, and constant chatter from the grassroots claiming things have never been worse. How can two groups look at the exact same situation and see diametrically opposite realities? Whether we are progressing or regressing is impossible to answer because the question itself is subjective. Every answer depends on your perspective. Why? Because what looks like "progress" to one person might feel like a total disaster to another. For example, one person might call it progress when a local community center is shut down to make room for a nightclub, or when a family-owned hotel is sold to an international corporation and the owner ends up working there as a server, or even when a factory is demolished to build a luxury mall or a casino. It all depends on where you're standing. To get a real answer, we first have to define what "forward" and "backward" actually mean. Movement is a physical concept—moving from Point A to Point B. So, we need to establish what our starting point is and, more importantly, what our long-term goal is (something that should span generations). In this country, it seems like every new administration simply drives in the opposite direction of the last one. What was a crowning achievement for one party becomes a catastrophic mistake for the next. We create this illusion of movement, but we’re really just spinning our wheels in a circle. There is no forward or backward; we're just stuck in place, which effectively means we're falling behind while the rest of the world moves on. That is precisely why we find ourselves in this mess. I’d frame the question differently: Will we ever actually have a government capable of sitting down with the citizens—regardless of political affiliation—to collectively decide on long-term strategic goals? Only then could we establish clear criteria for what constitutes progress or regression. Once those goals are set, both federal and local officials, and every individual citizen, would finally have a yardstick to measure whether we are advancing, retreating, or just idling. Only then would we stop having situations where a leader tries to convince the public they’re doing great when everyone else knows they aren't. Otherwise, we’ll continue to act like the US Congress, passing laws faster than they can even be printed, let alone implemented. It's like people are just busy-working to pass the time, but you don't get anywhere by just moving for the sake of moving. Are we really going to spend forever begging foreign powers or the entirety of Europe to step in and tell us which way to go? (Can you imagine? Ha!) So, who’s the crazy one here?
Q-master said:Also, let's talk about the soundtrack for Highlander: The Prince of the Universe. Honestly, all those tracks they re-released were absolute bangers. I’d bet anything that anyone here listening to Smells Like Teen Spirit would also have We Are The Champions blasting while cruising through Santa Barbara.😉 Am I right?😁

Clearly, you haven't spent much time in American video rental stores lately.
Whenever I’ve got something specific on my mind to watch... I don't just sit around waiting for it to pop up on TV. I'll just head straight down to the local Video Club to grab it...
That guy from the gendarme movie is the same one who played the conductor in Great Adventure, running away from the Germans with some unlucky guy while trying to help the British (that scene in the Turkish bath where they’re humming "Tea for Two and Two for Tea" is legendary)... I'm also itching to catch Girls Want Fun and Gunise...

Honestly, that ending is so powerful in every single sense that you’d have to be an idiot not to feel it. Even my daughter, who doesn't usually go for this kind of stuff, was absolutely glowing by the end. She turned to me and said, "That was amazing, it was so beautiful... why don't they make more movies like this? How am I supposed to go back to the stuff I used to watch?"
Timothy Cox2 said:Has anyone actually sat down and watched this movie? I’ve always been low-key convinced that Delicatessen shares a ton of DNA with Amelia, but I haven't found anyone else who sees it.😁 Both of them are absolute masterpieces, obviously.
Well, duh—they were both directed by Jeunet. His style is unmistakable...
Yeah, I also find myself trying to guess how many couples actually reach the finish line (honestly, I’m better at it than playing Monopoly). It’s a pretty solid movie. I haven't seen anything by Tarantino yet, so now I'm curious—is he actually any better or worse?

Yeah, and there's even a theme for Highlander: The Prince of the Universe. Honestly, all those re-released tracks were massive hits. I’d bet anything that any Smells Like Teen Spirit fan is blasting We Are The Champions while cruising through Santa Barbara.😉 Am I wrong?😁
