How do I upload images and videos to the forum? in Forum Help! ·
I'm actually not sure about that since I don't have an account with Google Photos, sorry. 🤷

I’m glad you finally got that sorted out. Just a quick tip for next time, though: if you have a URL for an entire webpage, you shouldn't paste that into the yellow "mountains" icon, since that specific button is designed for direct image links rather than full websites. If you follow the steps I laid out—right-click the image, select "copy image address," then hit that yellow icon and paste the link—you'll be all set.
That should give you this:

Kenneth Williams4 said:Good afternoon. I have a quick question regarding some baby gear I'm trying to sell on the classifieds. I’ve gone through the motions of organizing everything into a Picasa album and uploading it, but now I’m stuck. I can't figure out how to actually display those photos for everyone else online. I tried using "post reply," then "edit image," where I pasted the URL provided, but it isn't working. To test it, I sent a private message to myself 🙂, and all I see is a tiny white square with a red X—basically the universal icon for a broken image link. What am I doing wrong? Any advice would be greatly appreciated 🙂!!

Just right-click the image, select "Copy image location," click the icon, and then paste the link into the window that pops up (just right-click and paste). It’s as simple as that. 😉

P.S. — Make sure you are clicking on the actual full-sized image rather than just a small thumbnail. Essentially, the code you paste needs to end with something like .png, .gif, or .jpeg. For example: http://www.images.com/some_image/image_name.gif

I assume I should be looking for the New Thread button, but it’s nowhere to be found in the top left corner.😢

To make a new post, you can just hit Post Reply ( ) or use the quick reply box at the bottom.

If you want to start a new thread, just head into the specific subforum and click New Thread ().

🙂
So, is it working for you now? Usually, once you’ve cleared out the cookies and the cache, you have to give Firefox a full restart—completely shut it down and then fire it back up again.🙂
rowdysurfer13 said:The emoticons and bolding aren't working for me either—everything mentioned in the subject line is broken. I'm using Firefox. I already tried clearing my cache and cookies, but no luck. Help!!

Maybe try opening it in Internet Explorer just to see if the issue persists there.

If you aren't going to do it, then I guess I have to be the one to step up first. 😉
p.s.—It's actually about the color, not the bolding.

Gary Patel said:I’m not entirely sure if I’ve picked the right thread for this—my apologies if I have!—but I’m having some real trouble with my images. Lately, whenever I drop in links that are supposed to, well, turn into actual pictures (you know, so the image actually shows up in the post), nothing happens. Instead of the photo, I just get a plain old dead link staring back at me. I can't tell if the issue lies with the hosting sites like Imgur or others, or if there's something glitchy going on with the forum itself. Does anyone know what might be causing this? Any insight would be much appreciated!

Well,
First, take a quick look at the bottom left of the thread to see if using BBCode is permitted; if it isn't, you won't be able to display images directly, leaving you with nothing but raw links. If BBCode is allowed, just follow the steps I laid out here. 🙂
Ethan Barrett6 said:Can someone please walk me through how to get a PDF page onto this forum?
I tried converting it to a JPEG first to just upload it, but it’s not working at all. What gives?

You'll first need to ensure you can open the file using Adobe Photoshop. Once you have it open, you can proceed exactly as I described here. 🙂
How to change image size from pixels to inches? in Forum Help! ·
Well, you could always just use Adobe Photoshop.
Just open up your file, head over to Image -> Resize/Resample, and under the "Set new size" section, switch the units to inches so you can plug in your desired dimensions. Hit OK, save the file, and you're all set.😉

It looks like a configuration quirk with the Apache servers hosting the Forum. Here is the fix. 🙂

briskbison41 said:I get that, but if you don't have Microsoft Paint handy, a Screen capture tool works just fine—they're pretty straightforward for basic image editing.😉

True, but since Microsoft Paint comes bundled with Microsoft Windows, most people running Windows XP already have it sitting there ready to go.🙂

But whatever, it's not a big deal.

Christian Nelson7 said:How do I save what I'm looking at right now as an image?
It isn't technically an image file yet, but rather just what’s currently displayed—I know that sounds a bit silly, but you get what I mean.

And I mean generally when browsing the web; for instance, if I'm looking at a site and want to grab what I see, save it to my computer, and then later upload that image into a forum post (I already know how to do that part).

briskbison41 said:You're probably thinking of a screenshot.
If you search Google for "Screen capture," you'll find some good tools that offer extra editing features like drawing, typing, or cropping.

To take a screenshot, all you really need to do is hit the Print Screen key on your keyboard, open Microsoft Paint, and select Paste under the Edit menu. From there, you can manipulate the shot however you like, including saving it directly to your hard drive.

Best. 😉

It’s simply because Microsoft configured the search parameters that way within the Control Panel.

lonepilot2 said:Can we get an update on this thread? I'm not quite following the last response. Anyone else clear on this?

It looks like someone using the name Blue Eyes has clearly compromised a user's account. Admins, any chance you could take a look at this?

Regarding how to format things here, it’s pretty straightforward: just type out your text, highlight what you want to turn into a link, click the icon, and paste your URL. You're aiming to generate a snippet of code that looks like this:

For instance, if you write: click here.

Your code should end up looking like this:
[*URL="http://www.google.com/";]click here.[/URL]
-just remember to leave out the asterisk *

Tyler Price said:For some reason, I’m seeing this one specific thread where the page just looks completely stretched out, even though there aren't any images or anything else actually forcing the layout to expand.

Does anyone have a clue why this happens?

It’s likely just a case of someone uploading an image with massive dimensions that breaks the container. 🤷
