R.I.P.D. (2013) in Movies ·
Let's bring this back to life. 🙂

image

Regina: Robert Schwentke, based on the Dark Horse Comics http://darkhorse.wikia.com/wiki/Rest...ace_Department

Word is the trailer is dropping soon. 🙂

Welcome to The Rest in Peace Department -- where you've got dedicated (but deceased) officers enforcing divine law while "patrolling the deadbeat...reporting to one boss." And yeah, we're talking about THAT boss. Nick Cruz was taken out by some mystery killer right when he was hitting his stride, both personally and professionally. Now, he’s basically traded a century of service with the R.I.P.D. for one single chance to hunt down his murderer. The catch? His investigation is going to take him through Hell and back -- quite literally.

Jeremy Ross said:I think someone on this forum might have sent me a virus. Is it actually possible to catch something just by opening a private message? There wasn't a link or an attachment included, so I'm a bit confused.

My computer has been acting really weird ever since I got this suspicious message a few hours ago. Now, every time I try to log into a website, I get kicked out immediately—like if I hit "refresh," it just logs me right back out.

What's going on here?

Maybe there was a link you clicked on without realizing. Most Trojans need some kind of user interaction to trigger.

Ronald Jones said:Honestly, I am getting tired of you moderators constantly scrubbing my posts on this forum. ☕ ☕

And now you’ve gone ahead and locked this entire thread: http://www.forum.com/showthread.php?t=770677 effectively preventing me from telling that guy straight up that I’m far too small to fit into his little fantasies... 😢c

What does any of that have to do with what we're talking about here?

Hey admins, can I get a key?

If there’s already a thread dedicated to Skyrim, please just post all your questions there instead of starting a bunch of separate topics.

I don't see any post from you; if someone was breaking the rules, we went ahead and pulled it down.

If this were just an issue with BF3, you could probably just disable it for the single-player mode—at least from what I remember. But it isn't just limited to BF3. 😢

Benjamin King2 said:Aerodynamics—well, performance-wise—depends entirely on your GPU and its dedicated VRAM. Your system RAM won't make a difference here. Aero is going to gobble up about 200 MB of video memory, so if you're rocking a card with only 1 GB of VRAM, that could definitely become a major bottleneck when you're running more demanding titles.

I've got 1.2 GB of VRAM on my card. 😁If that's enough to cause trouble, then I'm officially screwed.

Benjamin King2 said:You can head over to System Properties -> Advanced tab -> Performance, select "Adjust for best performance," and then just uncheck Aero Peek (or whatever else you want). Honestly, it’s probably disabling itself because your video RAM is getting totally choked by the game, leaving zero resources left for Aero when you try to alt-tab. Does this happen with every single game you play?

There’s also a little registry trick involving the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ Directory\Background\shell key.

Inside there, you create a "Restart Aero folder," and then inside that, you create a "Command folder."
In the Command folder, create a new string value, leave the name as "Default," and paste this into the Data field:

CMD /C NET STOP UXSMS & NET START UXSMS

Once that's done, right-clicking on your desktop will give you a custom option to "Restart Aero." Give it a shot and see if forcing Aero back on actually causes the game to crash.

I used to run into this all the time with Civilization 5—it just eats every resource you throw at it.

It happens occasionally with certain titles (Battlefield 3, Dead Space 3...), but not every time. I've got 16 GB of RAM that never even hits its limit, so it's a bit weird to me.

I read online that this might fix it— View on imgur —so if it happens again, I'll try your method.

Hey everyone, I’ve got a quick question about Windows 7—it feels like a classic issue worth bringing up here.

So, even though I’m running a high-end gaming rig, I keep hitting this annoying snag (usually when I'm alt-tabbing). Windows suddenly decides my performance is tanking and forces the system to switch from Aero over to the Basic color theme. Is there any way to disable this so it stops happening to me?
James Patel20 said:Geez, you're asking for a lot of links.

Alright, here’s a piece that touches on some of those names and summarizes the part connecting psychoanalysis with homosexuality.

Left-wing Homosexuality: Emancipation, Sexual Liberation, and Identity Politics

Take a look at who actually wrote this.

And notice how I even watered things down a bit—I broadened the connection to sex in general rather than just focusing on the homosexual aspect.

So, you basically cut out the homosexual part because you knew something like that would get scrubbed much faster than if you just softened the edges?

Steven Chavez2 said:That's exactly why I mentioned that the moderators on that other American forum are way too hands-off for my liking.

But this current situation is the complete opposite extreme, and frankly, it's just as bad. The whole point of having rules should be to make communication easier, not to put everyone under this constant cloud of stress where you're second-guessing every single move, terrified of tripping over some obscure regulation. It's exhausting.

Anyway, I've made my peace with my stance, so there's really no point in me just spinning my wheels and recycling the same argument. 🙂

Help me understand your logic here, if you don't mind. Almost every PDF has a chat section where, within certain boundaries, you can pretty much say whatever you want. Why does communication need to be "easier" on other threads? What exactly is supposed to be facilitated?

Steven Chavez2 said:I’ve read the rules. Truly. And frankly? I think they're overkill. An emoji is just one tiny example of what they're targeting, so there's really no point in being so pedantic about it. It’s ridiculous. Just imagine you're out at a local pub with ten friends, a conversation starts flowing naturally, and then some sour-faced lady—or guy, doesn't matter—starts circling the table with a whip, ready to lash anyone who dares to drift slightly off-topic or offers a general opinion. Like, say, mentioning you don't have a sweet tooth while Mary is right there in the middle of telling everyone how she spent all last night perfecting her homemade profiteroles. The topic is Mary's profiteroles, not the concept of sugar in general. You can't just jump in with a side comment without getting whipped!

On Reddit. Over there, nobody's going to start a massive brawl just because a thread drifts off-topic or someone replies with a single smiley face. Sure, maybe the mods over there are a bit lax or unobservant, but I don't see any reason to swing to the opposite extreme and lecture people with this level of unnecessary, suffocating strictness.

Bottom line: in my opinion, the whole philosophy behind this forum is just too rigid. It lacks the flexibility needed for actual human interaction.

On Yahoo!, you barely find any actual serious discussion. You ask a question and usually just get a wall of emojis, maybe one real answer here and there. As for the mods? They're practically non-existent.
How do I request a post deletion on Reddit? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
From what I can tell, she wasn't aiming that at you—she actually clarified that herself. It was just one of those messy misunderstandings where things got crossed during the conversation.

If I go ahead and delete her post, I’ll have to wipe out your replies too since they're part of the same thread. If you both are cool with that, I can clear the whole thing out.

Steven Chavez2 said:On other forums, this is totally normal. It adds a sense of spontaneity and a relaxed vibe.

So, the issue isn't about some tiny smiley face; it's about the lack of spontaneity and casualness here. In my opinion—and I think I have every right to voice it—the rules on this platform are being taken far too rigidly. Don't get me wrong, I don't have any illusions that anyone is going to change a single thing based on what I say.

Can you actually name one other board—something roughly the same size in terms of traffic or active users as this one—where that kind of thing is totally normal?

Look, you’re really out of line here. You are intentionally and consciously trying to degrade me.

What exactly is your motivation here? What's the reasoning behind this? I guess it's just because you don't like it.

I suppose, given my faith, it seems to me...

I guess you have some other thoughts on this.

So, the way I figured it out, things around here...

I guess that degradation is based solely on that one specific stance.

It’s exactly this kind of logic that keeps my answer a firm "no." The partial election at the university stays put.

Anyway, cheers. 🙂

Henry Hernandez7 said:Anyone care to explain why I can't see anything either?😁

Sure thing.

I’ve been thinking about this quite a bit lately, and honestly, I think we might be overcomplicating things. It feels like everyone is rushing to jump on the latest trend without actually stopping to see if it even works for them. I was talking to Henry Kim3 about this the other day, and he made a really solid point—we often get so caught up in the "newness" of a solution that we ignore the fact that our current setup isn't even broken. Why fix what isn't busted? It’s easy to get swept up in the hype, especially when people like Sophia Thomas7 start talking about how revolutionary a certain tool is. But at the end of the day, if it doesn't solve a practical problem in my daily routine, it’s just more noise. I know I’m probably being a bit cynical here, but I'd rather stick to what I know works than chase every shiny object that comes along. Does anyone else feel like they're constantly being sold a "better way" that ends up being more work?

The answer is still no. This thread has become incredibly unproductive, and since the center tag makes everything unreadable anyway, I don't see any point in continuing this conversation here.

Good luck dealing with those mods.

Bryan Jones82 said:It’s not always that simple, though. Take the case of Damir Fintić, who was actually convicted because of an anonymous comment posted on his own blog:

http://nytimes.com/news/example-blog-case.html

He didn't end up behind bars—the Supreme Court eventually overturned that part—but he still had to pay the fine.

The whole reasoning behind the ruling was that since Fintić is just the "owner" of the blog, he doesn't really have total control over what anonymous users post, which is a fair point. In the US, this entire area of law is such a massive gray zone.

Henry Hernandez7 said:I’ve got no clue what Henry Kim3’s usual vibe is, though honestly, it doesn't really change my point.

If he was keeping things chill with the clone account and wasn't causing any drama, I don't see why they’d bother stripping his partial access.
The same goes if his communication style stayed consistent with his main handle—if there was no shift in behavior, then pulling those permissions seems pretty unnecessary.

That's all I've got.

The site mods will have the final say on that.
