What did you guys think of Free Guy? in Movies ·
It was a decent enough feel-good flick. Though, if I’m being honest, the ending felt a bit too sugary for my taste.
My son (born 2021) in Movies ·
Have you actually sat down to watch the movie yet, or are you still making excuses? 😁
Malignant (2021) in Movies ·
This is just pathetic 👎

Tedious and frankly quite dull. If they could at least manage some decent action toward the end, it might have been tolerable.

A five.
The Avengers (2017) in Movies ·
Personally, I find Los Angeles to be quite mediocre, whereas The Avengers is absolutely superb. 👍
R. L. Stine's Fear Street Trilogy (2021) in Movies ·
Skip the line and get straight to the good stuff! 👍

My thanks 👍

Is there some kind of site out there that already has a comparison of odds from all the different sportsbooks regarding the Euro final?
The Bodyguard (2017) in Movies ·
A pleasant little deconstruction👍

It’s a shame about that CGI blood work, though.

The humor was definitely the highlight for me; you can tell O'Connor didn't handle the script alone.
The Bodyguard (2017) in Movies ·
I watched it today, so I figured I’d jot down my impressions here.👍

I caught The Bodyguard when it first hit theaters, and honestly, it was a complete letdown. A five out of ten at best.
The Godfather (2021) in Movies ·
Read the first post and felt an immediate sense of irritation 🙏

I'm not reading any further on this thread until I've actually watched the movie.

Daniel Kim15 said:How many of those B-list flicks does Liam churn out every year? Four? Five? It’s getting tedious...

Tedious, you say.

Yet here we are, with people opening threads, watching the movie, and actually bothering to write down their thoughts...

Think about how many superior films get released and don't even merit a single discussion thread. 🤷
Candyman (2021) in Movies ·
Call it a remake or a reboot, honestly, who cares? ☕

The only thing that actually matters is whether we’re in for a decent movie or just more total garbage.

Kyle Flores32 said:I feel like there have been far too many Candyman installments. I haven't sat down to watch any of them. That trailer on YouTube caught my eye, though. I see Jordan Peele (Get Out) had a hand in this one. It’ll be worth a look, I suppose.

How can you judge if there are too many movies when you haven't even seen one? 🤷

I only saw the original back when I was a kid, maybe 11 or 12, and I actually liked it.

We'll just have to wait and see if Mr. Peele brings something fresh to the table or if he's just going to rip off the original.
The Exorcist (2021) in Movies ·
I wasn't even aware the movie was slated for release.

Then one day, I happen upon the title, and my immediate instinct is to just skip 🤣
Sofia Coppola in Movies ·
Honestly, we should all just forget this movie ever existed. I have a deep-seated disdain for remakes of great classics, so The Beguiled is certainly no exception to my rule.

Amanda Robinson4 said:The Rocks (2020)

Nothing groundbreaking here, nothing particularly fresh, but still arguably more solid than almost anything else Sofia Coppola has directed since Lost in Translation. It’s worth a watch, I suppose, if only to see Bill Murray.

Look at it this way: to me, Sofia Coppola is a one-hit wonder. She has Lost in Translation, and nothing else she's done even comes close to the beauty of that film. I gave The Rocks a five out of ten.

And just to prove my point, she's moving on to make a remake of The Beguiled. 👎

She is quite simply a failure of an auteur—someone the world would have forgotten ages ago if she didn't carry the "Coppola" name. 👎

A truly stellar achievement from Poland! 🙏

It isn’t every day we sit down to watch a film where the protagonist is the villain, much less one where the antagonist treats the internet as his primary weapon of choice. There is a certain grim fascination in watching a timid young man descend into a complete psychopath, willing to sacrifice everything just to achieve his ends. 👍

Maciej Musialowski, a performer in his mid-20s, has already delivered what can only be described as a tour de force performance.

For me, this is a top contender for Film of the Year.

I found myself vacillating between an eight and a nine, though I ultimately settled on an eight. That said, who knows if my perspective might shift upon a second viewing?

As for the themes explored—kudos to the filmmakers.

They tackle a subject rarely handled with such nuance in feature films: the manipulation of public opinion through social media. Our protagonist doesn't hesitate to hire overseas troll farms to manufacture fake profiles and launch targeted attacks against anyone he deems an "enemy." We have known about these tactics for years, but seeing the sheer scale and frequency of their success is sobering. 🤷

An unexpected happy ending, though in reality 😁

First off, I suppose it’s only fair that I waited "only" eleven years for someone to finally contribute something to this thread.

I can't quite put into words how relieved I am to find out I wasn't the only one who sat through this.

It is truly fascinating to realize that, despite being filmed thirty years ago, there still isn't a superior documentary out there.

Kiarostami is a genius, plain and simple.
Romanian Cinema in Movies ·
If this is supposed to be a film from 2006, then it’s nothing more than Lovesick. I started watching it, but I ended up turning it off. Just incredibly tedious.
