I was watching some highlights last night and couldn't help but think about how much of modern football feels like a giant, endless game of musical chairs. Every single window, it feels like the same group of players is being shuffled between the same few clubs, often for astronomical sums that seem to have nothing to do with what actually happens on the pitch.

I remember back in the day when you'd see a player join a club and you just knew they were there to stay for a good stretch. Now, it feels like a player is barely settled into a new city before the rumors start swirling about their "impending move" elsewhere. It’s hard to build any real club identity or fan connection when the roster looks like a revolving door every six months.

Sometimes I wonder if this constant movement is actually helping the quality of the leagues, or if it's just fueling a hype machine for agents and club owners. Does a player ever truly "belong" to a team anymore, or are they just assets being moved around a spreadsheet?

What do you guys think? Does this constant shuffling make the leagues more competitive, or does it just kill the soul of the clubs?

I just realized that Samir Saïd took 4th on the rings—missing bronze by a mere 0.008—and this is the same guy who suffered that broken leg back at the Rio Games 🙏🙏

True, but they could have easily aired fewer replays and more live action. Especially during the finals—what’s the point of seeing a replay of a high jump when everyone is already hovering around 190cm? You get these situations where they play a replay of a shot put throw that landed in 6th place, while a favorite is actually stepping up for a medal. Instead of going live, they just leave it for a replay.
Or look at the high jump finish. They spend forever showing replays of failed attempts while the leaders are attacking 1.99 or 2.01 to decide the gold. Just watch the first eight minutes of the 5000m race.

This is a disaster. Why couldn't they just scrap this event entirely, or at least consider reducing the field to 25 miles for future meets? Otherwise, you end up in a situation where someone finishes and still walks away with a medal. 🙄

Maybe some championships aren't everything because they lack top-tier results, but at least the events stay tense and exciting, especially the technical ones.

I guess you could get away with that if you were being caught in a photo finish during a 400m or longer sprint (like 2103.Ohuruog - Montsho), but here? In the 100m? That’s a rookie mistake. You could literally see her panic about 10 meters from the tape when she realized she was in the lead and didn't have Thompson to pull alongside her in the stretch. She cruised into that final meter way too casually. Props to Tori, though.

Major respect to Zunic. Snagging a medal in a field like this is 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

I honestly don't get people who just barge in here dropping massive lists of bands they want to see at a festival. Like, WHAT IS THE POINT??!!!! What's the actual use in posting endless lists of performers you'd like to hear?
If the organizers are actually counting votes somewhere, then fine, I'll throw in a list of maybe 10 to 20 bands myself. 😁

Looks like they're coming back again!!! (Chk Chk Chk), and having Massive Attack and The Flaming Lips on the lineup could be huge for drawing a crowd 👍

I seriously don't get why they keep questioning who the men are among the South Africans. It's like they're afraid it'll come out. Gender testing was brought to the Olympics back in the 1960s specifically because of track and field and those "sisters" from the USSR.

Sweet 😍Shelly-Ann Fraser set a national record with that incredible performance (to hell with Amera and those comparisons to Florence Griffith Joyner's results, especially from that windless Indy meet where everyone claims it was a hurricane when there was no breeze at all) breaking the long-standing mark held by the great Merlene Ottey.🙏
The saddest part—and I know someone already touched on this—is how this is starting to look like swimming: if you don't break a world record, people act like your results don't even matter.

All this worshiping of Usain Bolt is over the top (though I get why, since he’s the golden boy right now). In what way are his 100m or 200m records more magnificent than some record held by a guy like Kenenisa Bekele on the 5k or 6.2 miles??? In case you didn't know, Bekele runs his final lap of the 10,000m in about 55 seconds!!!! Most people would struggle just to finish a casual 400m sprint, let alone after running 9,600 meters beforehand.

The Americans definitely screwed up by not filing an appeal. During the first heat, the crowd was busy cheering for the heptathletes, so they didn't exactly have total silence. I don't get how they managed to be such absolute idiots.
Massive shock for Ethiopia and losing the gold in the 10,000m. It was obvious they hadn't prepared a stronger tactic to try and kill off the competition earlier. Maybe they'll grab it in the 5,000m and both men's events.

Even though Asaf looks impressive, I'm cautiously optimistic (though I hope 😁) he can snag the gold before he's stuck fighting just for bronze. It would be even better if Justin Gatlin took 3rd and Carl Lewis missed out on a medal entirely.😁

That other guy shouldn't even be leading at these meets anymore. He’s nowhere near his old results, let alone being able to improve them.

Damn NBC!!!! Surely they can show at least 2 or 3 minutes of the 100m final. We aren't seriously expected to watch the biggest event of the season via highlights or some random stream on the internet, are we??!!!!!
